Interface Sketch 8
The original website design does not have effective layout of showing the connection towards the neighbourhood and the trees. I put both categories side by side in order to show the comparison easier and also make it easier for the viewer to play around with the visualization.
Stretch Quest - Physical
I followed these exercise Youtube tutorials from Blogilates in order to do something physical for 30 minutes. I did the workout routine for 30 minutes. It was very tiring because I was trying to focus on watching the video and doing the workout as well. What I ended up doing was to pause the video after each set, do the set then continue the video. It took way longer than I expected.
Stretch Quest - Curiosity Conversation
I recently contacted Intact Insurance to inquire if they are planning to get a summer intern for graphic design. I was very nervous at first because this is out of my comfort zone to contact people that I have no clue about let alone a company. Thankfully, they contacted me back and accepted my offer. They have decided to offer me the position of doing freelance work for them. I’m very glad that I went through with my decision to email a company that I’m potentially interested in working for.
Interface Sketch #7
This type of website is a very excellent tool for aiding businesses in turning huge chunks of information into graphics that are more readable and understandable to their customers. Having the option to pick whatever chart is good as well. The horizontal layout is very effective in a sense that the eyes go automatically from left to right, therefore, guiding the user.

Stretch Quest: Professional
Rating Scale: 5
For this stretch quest, I decided to ask my boss who has a design background on what are the areas that I can improve on and give me an evaluation regarding my design skills. I was so nervous because design opinions are very dependent on each person’s standards and views. Also, he is my boss who has more than 10 years of experience. It actually went well! He pointed out great areas that worked well for me and gave me advice on the areas that I need improvement on. I thought it was going to be bad because we don’t share the same design style. Instead, it became a good experience for both of us to do this evaluation.
Rating Scale after: 3
Interface Sketch - MyMru
The redesigned version of MyMru still contains the same elements that we have in the current version but it is simplified and more appealing to the students and professors, the main stakeholders. Having it simplified and more organized, it is easier for the stakeholders to find what they are looking for.
Palace
I changed my topic to the top palaces in the world.
1. The exclusivity of palaces is now tangible to the public.
2. For rich or for poor?
3. The luxury status of previous royalties is now a part of the cultural heritage.
4. Do palaces still hold an important value in today’s society?
5. The juxtapose of grandeur that palaces provide and a constant reminder of the economic divide.
6. Taste the luxurious lifestyle by paying the entrance fee.
7. Reveal the secrets of the rich.
8. Your doll house in real life.
9. A house, only 10x bigger than yours.
10. The house that you can rent for a day, live like a king!
Facebook Redesign
www.facebook.com (Homepage)
I noticed in the Facebook homepage is that there are a lot of repetitions of specific functions such as the messenger. It is redundant. I do understand it is better for usability purposes but it is not good design wise. So I split the Facebook homepage into two, mainly the newsfeed and the messenger options. I also put into icons with text the most used functions as well for the newsfeed on the bottom. The redesigned version looks more simplified to me which I think is necessary considering the use of Facebook by its users. Also, by assigning the same icons used to represent functions makes it more visually appealing and easily understood by the user. Overall, the redesigned facebook is simpler and less overwhelming to the users.
Stretch Quest 2: Social
I signed up for a language exchange app where I can set the language/nationality of people that I want to meet. It is called MEEF. I have heard about it but I am skeptical of online “friendship/relationship” apps because of the possibility of catfishing or dangers of meeting people through the internet.
Rate before signing up: 4/5
I was really nervous because I don’t know if people will be interested in meeting an online friend and to speak or practice English with. I choose Korean because I am already interested in the culture and learning the language as well which speaks for the 1/5 of the rating.
Rate after signing up: 2:5
It turned out not so bad. Now, I’m in constant communication with about 5 people from Korea and they are real people! There is a bit of language barrier but we all use translators to be able to talk comfortably. This summer, I will try to visit them so that will be another challenge!
Because of this experience, I think I have more confidence now to talk to people online and possibly talk to random people that are also designers. In a way, it pushed me to not be nervous about presenting myself out there, similar as to how I feel whenever I talk about my designs. I always have this fear that people do not understand my design choices or whenever I have an interview for a design job.

Website: Electrifying Times
url: http://electrifyingtimes.com/
The design of this website is terrible. The main home page’s design does not follow the same design for the Staff page. It is very messy. It has another window within the page that has a scroll. There is no theme whatsoever for the whole website. It is full of colours and it also has the eye-catchy new icon that attracts your eyes right away which is a distraction from the overall colour scheme.
Interface Sketch 3
The design is very simple and straightforward. The task was to find out about what Sleepmore company is.
Website: sleepmore.net
Stretch Quest 1 - Mental
I watched the Japanese version of The Ring which is 1000x scarier than the American version.
Scale before watching the movie: 6
I am really terrified of watching horror movies. I have only watched them during daylight with more than five people and I have to cover my eyes the whole time. But this time, I actually watched it at night so I was not able to fall asleep at all that night.
Scale after watching the movie: 10
It really pushed me outside my boundaries since I did this all by myself. I know that my career in design solely relies on my own efforts. Whatever designs I come up with, I have to work on them on my own. I was able to appreciate the cinematography of Japanese horror movies and realize how different the techniques of storytelling are compared to American ones.
