"you attract what you are" - this sentence is stuck inside my head. Whenever i leave the house i am a nobody. I question myself, my identity, so much by interacting with others. I feel like i have to change myself to be likable for other people. It is so hard for me to find connections and i know that it is getting harder to make friends the older we get.

I don't think people fall apart only because of lack of love. No. Sometimes there is love but no respect. Sometimes actions surrounding that love hurt like pins and needles to your chest. Sometimes people keep that love locked away in a treasure chest and ask the other person to jump loops and holes to earn it. Sometimes people leave cause despite love, something so essential was missing in the relationship that it was either them or that bond that has to break.

Showing empathy doesn't mean sitting down and processing someone's trauma until you get a full understanding of their situation.

You can do that if you want to but it's not a requirement. You don't have to be anyone's therapist.

Most of the time they just need you to listen. Just consider the possibility that someone out there is having a rough time in life. You have your collection of terrible life events. They have theirs too. We're all struggling with something and knowing that binds us together. That's human connection. That's empathy.
