Mac Goes Identity Mad
my thoughts on the backrooms (copied from my notesapp)
i thought it was incredible. the backrooms being a representation of clark’s deteriorating mental state was so genius. the house scene where he admitted he’s “right where he wanted to be” was so heartbreaking because a lot of depressed people feel comforted by their own misery because it’s the only thing they’re used too, and the unknown is scary to them. i think clark also being an unreliable narrator was cool. at first i pitied him but later on with the focus on mary gave the audience a more balanced perspective. he isn’t a bad guy though. he’s just a guy??? you know what i mean?? i could relate to him a lot not in a “literally me!!! :3” type of way just the portrayal of depression was so realistic and well done idk it was so impressive to me… i feel like everyone focuses more on the visual horror (which was amazing!) but the psychological elements were just as impressive to me. i also liked that we never got a concrete conclusion of what the backrooms really is because the whole concept of the backrooms is larger then life itself really. its like an eldritch type of thing which i really enjoy!
ALSO ONE MORE THING!! pirate clark clearly represented the worst parts of clark. by being eaten by the personification of his worst traits show that his depression consumed him. i think mary and clark are two examples of how people can process depression/trauma. mary has experienced a lot of trauma from her mother. instead of letting these feelings consume her she tries to become better (she probably became a therapist to help understand what happened to her mother) but on the other hand clark internalized these feelings and let it kill him. so you can either use your experiences in perspective to become a better person or suffocate in the misery.
thank you for listening to my ted talk
also clark is sexy
Genuinely the only other person ive seen that also understood that Clark being eaten by the Captain is literally him being consumed by the worst parts of himself after deciding that it was more comfortable to be that way than the discomfort of change
My hot take is that it doesnt make any sense for Christians to not believe in dinosaurs. Is it so far fetched that God sent the astroid
Being absolutely ravaged by OCD but it's fine because I'm on a waitlist for intense therapy and want to get better
every 14-16 year old is the bravest person on the planet to me
talking to a 15 year old like wow okay you are like if scrambled eggs was a person. I don't know how to save you. the way you move through the world is reminiscent of a stray cat whose soul got punted into a human body. said human body is currently undergoing changes and floods of hormones that would result in cities being levelled if you were perhaps a big dragon and not a medium sized primate. been there. good luck I love you
you don't have to excuse the behaviours of shitty teenagers, but you DO have to remember that they've been on this earth only as long as your cat. you have to ensure that the way you respond to said behaviour reflects this. yes they're an entire person. they're also going through a period of the most insane rapid transformation (physically, mentally, emotionally and socially) a person can experience in life. are they an irredeemable monster or are they just a very impressionable young person floundering through their first Strong Opinions based on what they've seen online, with ridiculous amounts of Hormone That Makes You Hate Everything in their bloodstream?
YOUNG TEENAGERS. are YOU an irredeemable monster or are YOU just a very impressionable young person floundering through your first Strong Opinions based on what you've seen online, with ridiculous amounts of Hormone That Makes You Hate Everything in your bloodstream? I'll give you a hint. it's the second option. cut yourself some slack too! try your very best to be kind, try your very best to consider people with differing experiences to you, and maybe take a step back from discourse that does nothing besides make you upset. you've only been an animal alive on this planet for a decade and a bit. there are artisanal cheddars at your local supermarket older than you. take it easy. eat more fruit. save up for a second hand bicycle. join a local club. it's impossibly difficult to be a teenager but you have it in you, whether you're aware of it or not. I hope you can be kind to yourself, because you DO deserve that kindness. kia kaha [:
No matter what happens at least I'll never be 14 again
I Love You with all my Art (with clouds and a heart)
help
Agree so mmay years i finally got diagnosed with anxiety and ocd yippee.. it feels strange
Not trusting yourself because of ocd with medical issues really does suck because ill call a helpline being like "so sorry im being so annoying but I have these symptoms and they kinda suck a lot can you help me :3?" And they pause and say they'll call an ambulance for me yesterday because what the fuck
kicking my feet. twirling my hair. etc.
check out my other art here :)
timelapse under cut:
When someone jokes about acid reflux and I look at them like this because ain't nothing funny
Remembered that my parents used to lock me in dark rooms for hours on end while telling me that at some point a "nasty man" was going to come kidnap me... not sure that was developmentally appropriate
My immediate thought:
actually hate that the bodys response to anything is nausea. ate too much? nauseous. ate too little? nauseous. an imaginary threat got you scared? be nauseous. on your period? you guessed it. sawed into your hand and need to go to the emergency room? perhaps throwing up into your open wound will be of help
My stomach is in my oesophagus and every morning its a suprise to my body and we gotta be real sick about it DHLAHSLAJSHDHLQOSUDYDIAKKDHD
