Tangled limbs intertwined in a mess of sheets, surrounded by paintings of both your eyes, your lips, your body, and mine.

I've seen the world, done it all, had my cake now
The pulsing, flashing lights of cameras had started to exhaust me by the time promotion for my new film was done. All I wished for was the freedom to disappear for at least a month. Or two. Maybe run off to our secret haven of an apartment in Versailles, indulge in decadent delicacies that filled rooms with the rich scent of fresh butter, paired with a glass of lemon honey spritz and laze away in bed with Timothee, soaking in whatever weather the world offered. I didn't really mind. All that mattered was that we were together. Finally able to spend more than an all too short week together. I strayed my head away from the cold windowpane, opening its latches to allow the brisk night to seep into the space that was our bedroom. Sitting back down on our bed, allowing myself to finish a book whilst waiting for him to come home.

My body ached to finally touch him after days of not being able to see each other with the nature of our filming schedules. But that was done now. Yet he insisted to wash off the grime of the day before coming back to our bed. The trickling sounds of the water from the shower leaked into our bedroom as if teasing me with the temptation to at least see him again. Trickles slowly started to fade into mindless drips. The yellow light turned into a shadow of darkness through the crack of the door. And he almost burst into the room, leaping onto the bed to tackle me with kisses in the most deliberate of places. Almost as if they were planned, as if he had been thinking about placing his lips over each nook and cranny of my torso, my chest, the little rivers that lead up to my face all month.
"Mh, I couldn't wait to finally be with you again, my beloved y/n", he uttered with utmost sincerity, taking my chin into his hands as they cupped around my face.
"I thought about you every second", I replied, an even bigger smile morphing onto my features, almost seeping into his own as his eyes crinkled from his own expressions of joy.
I climbed onto his lap, wrapping my arms around his waist as my face nuzzled into his neck, peppering kisses over his face as his hands clung onto my back, pacing them so that I could get in a word in between each breathless touch.
"My sun", a short caress of his knuckle, "My sweet", one peak to his shoulder, "My fawn", a final kiss of his lips, long, and sweet, almost without effort.
Just organic intimacy.
Hot summer nights, mid-July
A condominium in Versailles. A small flight that lasted a third of the day, suddenly planned right after we woke up. Along with some messily packed suitcases, tucked into the corner of the bedroom. The quintessential warmth of Frances summers perfecting the tone for such a trip, a flight away from avoiding the heat of New York. Each rooms symmetrical design had become changed over time. An easel there, a briefcase side table we found at a small market placed next to the couch, even the bedroom’s slightly out of place paintings we had never hung up placed neatly to the side. It was charming, enchanting, just us.
I've seen the world, lit it up as my stage now
Camera lenses that used to aim at our figures, flashing and pulsing were fogged over by clouds when we were here. His languid morning eyes staring into me, his head propped up by the pads of his fingers, brushing through his hair. Sounds of scraping pencil over thickly textured paper were our usual morning noises. One of us would wake up, and draw the other. My hand was still intertwined with his, the sketchbook propped up on my bent thigh with the aide of my hand offering it support. The song of the birds still hung in the air, the sun yet to overcome the mystery of the clouds.
"You were talking in your sleep again, were you dreaming of me?", my voice muttering my words through a smile, still focusing on defining his features with feather-light strokes of my fingertips.
"No, I was thinking about you, and I still am, my dearest"
And all the ways I got to know
Your pretty face and electric soul
The effervescent nostalgia of an old French album being played on a record player twirled, swayed, and wrinkled through the air, creating a visage - a blank canvas almost, for our own array of chaotic works of art. We stared at our creation, two figures dancing on a balcony in broad daylight, their bodies almost disappearing into the background as their own colour palettes started to blend together, forming soft hues of pinks and peach and peony. Timothee’s hands draped over my body, lightly kissing the tip of my ear when I put down the brush, releasing a puff of air.
"I don't know how you did it, but I'm even more in love with you right now", his whispered breaths sending tingling sensations of mellow heat into my skin.
"I’m not doing anything", I laughed
"I know"
All that grace, all that body
With the natural course of a day - fluffed with freshly baked pastries bought from the bakery across the street and a finished painting standing in the middle of a light-filled piazza-esque room, came the sunsets golden hour. My legs tangled into his as we melted into the benign snug of the water, summoning a light splash as our chests rose, then fell in harmony. The comforting presence of his body embracing the homeliness of the bath seemed as if it was the direct cause of a sudden bout of sleepiness.
"Are you tired yet, Mon amour?"
I slowly shook my head, leaning back into his chest. Noticing a distinct urge to preserve this closeness I didn't want to end.
"We have more time you know. We'll always be able to do this again tomorrow. Then the day after. Then even when we get back"
"I'll cherish every single one of those moments as if they were the first", I hummed. The steam of the room and its nostalgic yet regal atmosphere feeding into the idea that this was a dream. Yet such a lovely dream could never be as lovely as a time such as this.
"You don't fear that it'll get boring after a while?"
"We could just sit in a room, without talking or moving, yet it would still be filled with fondness". The movements of his chest slowed into a calm wave, my fingers fluttering through his damp curls as I turned to face him, "Because it's never a boring moment with you, my beloved", I kissed my lips into his, gathering up the last of my energy to mutter, "My beloved Timothee Hal Chalamet".
He's my sun, he makes me shine like diamonds
What is the perfect weather to doze in with your lover? Maybe a rainy day, barely paying attention to a movie because of your adoration for each other. Maybe a usually horrid summer, still finding a way to be tangled together in the midst of the summer heat. Maybe the current comfortable sunrise that provides a natural light without its aching glare, not too temperate or lukewarm. Just right. Just enough to snuggle into each other with a blanket layered onto the shadows and meadows of our sleepy bodies.
It’s funny actually, the weather is something so mundane, yet at the moment - even after further contemplation, I couldn't help but think, how wonderful.
So I ended up falling back into a peaceful slumber.

"No, I think she chose to love her. Isn't it so much more romantic that way? They know their love will never exist outside of their own boundaries yet they love so strongly that they choose to pursue it anyway", I stated, placing streaks of soft, thick paint onto the brown canvas. Each stroke mixing into a portrait bursting with colour, telling a tale through its tone, along with the sketched outlines of his eyes.
"Or they fell into a natural song of love, and couldn't control it so they just fell prey to their spontaneous feelings, I think they had a mix of both unconscious and conscious desire"
"Is that how you think of us?". My voice turned soft, sensitive to how he nuzzled his nose into the side of my stomach, an arm coddled around my bare leg whilst he idled in the love seat he had moved into the room just for this moment.
"Well, I'm glad. That it turned out this way I mean. Because whenever I look at you, I can't help but think of how much you became my whole world, the fuel for my passions, my ambitions, my affections".
Will you still love me when I'm no longer young and beautiful?
From the view of our quaint little balcony, the city looked so small. The smells from the nearby bakeries and markets sometimes drifting in if we got up early enough to notice. An abyss of rain started to trickle onto the roof, chilling the air - yet the sun still outshined the clouds. We walked back into the lounge room, closing the lock on the doors with a creaked snap. The painting I had done this morning was still drying, its thick layers turning it into an agonizingly slow process, but there was usually a film or some music playing in the background, and Timothee cuddling me in one way or the other, so it grew into something calm, domestic and pure.
He stood by my side, both his arms hugging into my side as he kissed my temple.
"Do you think that kissing in the rain is truly that great?", I asked, rubbing my hand over his neck, bringing myself closer into his side so that we practically became one.
"I don't know, maybe we should try it out, just for curiosities sake", he laughed. His lips sending small kisses, little love letters into my soul.
"Of course, purely"

The light trickles of rain had softened into a faint sprinkle, barely enough to notice if you weren't paying enough attention. His hands gripped onto my waist, taking mine to rest on his neck, and slowly sway in a messy dance to the loveliest music of all, the thumping of his heart that sung with mine.
"I love you so much". I said, each tone, each inflection of my voice crooning into the air only softened his eyes, a lovestruck grin appearing onto his face, encouraging a small grin and laugh of my own. "I love how even after the music ends, we keep dancing", I continued. "I love how if I could do everything on earth, I would only want to do it with you - but most of all, I love you, because that's the best part".
His lips parted slightly, speechless and hopefully in awe. I took the moment to cup his face with my hands, taking his lips into my own, kissing in a rain-filled sunset with light streaming in from the little stars of the day, and the sun lighting up a spark in our bodies.
I know you will, I know you will, I know that you will
Thank you so much for reading! I also feel the need to say that I don't listen to Lana Del Ray, listening to her would be quite off brand for my over descriptive, flowery (hopefully healthy??) romanticized writing. Also - there's an an obnoxious amount of portrait of a lady on fire references and one my dinner with Andre reference. Okay bye!! I hope you have a lovely day <3
