Ok, so Iâm a female gamer and Iâve read all of this bullshit. Letâs be clear - being a female IS A LEG UP. The amount of down-sides which you females are claiming like sexual harassment, negative shit is all crap as well. Iâve worked in numerous organisations, played in a few female teams, and the leg-up is far greater than the negative comments.
Yes being a female does mean you get bad comments, but guys also get negative comments in their games. If a team do shit at LAN, reddit will be filled of negative comments against that male. Infact, iâve even seen posts where people are taking pictures of ugly guy gamers and turning them into memeâs. Iâve seen guys being told to get cancer, to go die, that they deserve to have their families die of aids. I rarely see these kind of comments in this extent directed at girls. To be honest, the comments girls get are the standard âget in the kitchen lolzâ and if that is so hard to deal with by some randomer who you donât know in real life then you shouldnât be on the internet. Every single post from a female iâve seen so far sees this as a down side to being a female on the internet, and itâs actually far less than the abuse that males get in terms of harshness and the only reason the girls bring this up is for once again - ATTENTION. Maybe itâs a little annoying, but donât over dramatise the situation.
I also find it pretty ironic that the majority of girls who have backlashed in this are girls who are known to have boyfriends in the public eye in e-sports who are usually high up in the scene who will boost their esports female and boost their popularity. If they really didnât like the attention so much, letâs be honest girls, you wouldnât fuck your boss in an organisation so that you get free LAN travel or a step up in your eSports career.
Also, the blog here dribbles on about how girls have to prove their worth 10x harder. Thatâs also bullshit. The girls in eSports are not the most knowledgeable, they are not die-hard fans in general who would spend 12 hours a day following their favourite team. The girls who DO do that in eSports arenât interested in getting a job in eSports or getting attention or being in the public eye. They donât give a shit if theyâre on stage hosting a tournament or interviewing a pro player because they play for a hobby. The people who are in the public eye do not see it as a hobby they see it as a career opportunity doing something they enjoy which is fine, but there is also many others out there who are far more knowledgeable of the game. Girls donât have to prove they know more, they just have to prove they know enough the same as any other male. In fact, males would have to know MORE then the average because the increased competition.
The reason why most females donât get taken seriously is because of this bullshit. Seltzer sitting there claiming that she doesnât get a leg up, while openly admitting in an interview on youtube that she thinks sheâs far prettier than other girls in gaming. Seriously wtf? Do these girls actually walk into a room and judge if theyâre prettier than anyone else? They give themselves that reputation and thatâs why the female scene is so fucked up. Then you have girls like sunset backing them up acting like they are in the right and they have a point, cry me a river girls and put a ward in it because this is nothing more than pure attention. The contradiction between the posts is amazing. Richard Lewis wasnât flaming Seltzer in any way, he was simply asking about a leg up, what does Rachel reply with? Basic feminism bullshit.
The main reason why they donât get taken seriously is because if you compare the female interviewers to male interviewers it generally goes like this: Female interviewer: hey hehe that was a really nice long game how do you feel? where are you going after the game? what did you eat? male interviewer: what were your thoughts behind xyz?
Iâm not saying all female interviewers are like that, but the more known ones like Sjokz are. Their interviews lack knowledge and thought and are rather more like a conversation between friends. Males however work hard, they provide a lot of thought while watching the games to come up with hard hitting questions which will get an in-depth insight into the games and the surrounding circumstances.
tl;dr females get leg-up, the downsides of insulting or negative attitudes doesnât counter-act that given the fact that males probably have the same flame in the public eye to a more excessive extent.

Even know the whole. "dickwolves" thing is out of hand also, I feel both sides gets it in a degree that it can become a mental causality for players.
PTSD, depression, anxiety etc... can cone up from all of the harassment ...
I do feel dudes get it worse in this sector of society, and it needs to end before someone kills themselves over what you think is "harmless"...
