Cain looks away as Hitomi reads his poem, a bit flustered at just up and showing her his poem, especially since itâs not something heâs terribly pleased with. His fret doesnât show in any other way than avoiding eye contact, though.
Heâs glad to hear that she likes it, though! Again, it doesnât quite show, but, well, the feeling is there. â..Thank.. you,â he bows. ââŠI.. suppose Iâm⊠somewhat fond of⊠the diction, as wellâŠâ Cain muses, moving to take his notebook back. He drops it, and just decides to leave it on the floor.
âAh, the⊠lowercase.â If Cain was going to be honest with himself, he honestly just didnât feel like writing in the capitals to make the poem grammatically coherent, but⊠He can come up with something on the spot. Sure. Yeah.Â
â..It⊠represents softness⊠gentlenessâŠâ A pause. âMelancholy.â Another pause. ââŠBut⊠art⊠relies not only⊠on intent, but⊠audience interpretation⊠as well.â Cain glances over at Hitomi, finally finding willingness to go for eye contact again. ââŠDo⊠you have⊠any⊠thoughts?â
... She still doesnât entirely understand! That must be what makes it good!
I see! S-So, that means youâre a kind person, too, huh? Ah, I-I um, knew that, though, ehe...
Um, my thoughts... promise not to laugh?
Does Cain seriously look like the type of person to ever laugh out loud? Hitomi realizes that immediately after asking, and feels ridiculous. So, she clears her throat as if thatâll make them forget what she said.
... By âscar the windows of my soul,â i-it um, it makes me think of, like, blinding someoneâs eyes... And, the next lines, âwinterâ and âcold,â i-itâs like... After that, itâs âheart?â Itâs a letter off from âheat,â and thatâs like... It... makes me think... it um, I imagine a selfish person, diving into somebodyâs um, t-taking advantage of someoneâs kindness, to warm themselves... An unhating, but unfair kinda song...
POEM. I mean poem I Iâm so sorry--
