I think this is the most anticlimactic way they’ve ever announced a girl of the year. “Hey. You can pre order her book now.”

#tbh i am curious about how the doll looks cuz i do think she will be cute #but i also think that the girls in the background would have been just as good/probably a better choice for goty #i talked about it on the reddit but i do think a world by us equivalent with these 5 would have been so cute #like they all meet at camp and become great friends (not without some turmoil) but over all wholesome best friends a la babysitters club #but then they all go back home in different corners of the country but they all still keep in touch to talk about their struggles at home #like first half of their book is their pov of camp maybe in one situation 2 of them are fighting and depending on whos you read you think #theyre in the right but if you read both books you notice the nuance of how it was more complicated things like that #and then the second half of the book is them at home dealing with school friend trouble bigotry etc missing camp and keeping in touch #idk i just think it leaves me wishing it was maybe more then what it will be #anyway still curious tho to see the doll and her collection #ooooh also the molly of it all #lowkey i hope she isnt directly related to molly i think what could be better is just a little nod to molly #like maybe at camp there is a display of pictures of campers of the past and maybe we see molly in the photo #or something molly did gets an article written and put in a frame idk what happend in the molly book tbh i dont think i ever read it #and if i did it was so so long ago i dont remember #but yeah since the Samantha connection was so direct i think it would be silly to do that again so soon after #or again at the very least not have them so directly connected to one another #or or what if she is Emily's descendant she does seem to have red hair after all

#so happy they brought back these #i hope they stick around longer then the last outfits #like in in two minds with these #like 1 i love any and all outfits they bring back #BUT i wish it was more like Kit or Molly's rereleases #were their stuff was around at least for a few years #i just double checked some of there things are not available anymore idk if they will comeback or not #but still they had like 3 outfits and 3 extras sets available for like 3 years #the birthday outfits from last year was out what 6 months #like Josefinas birthday outfit is the only one still around #literally the only reason i was able to get that one cuz #sorry AG 9 time out of 10 i cannot buy the things the second they come out #also luckily i already have the Samantha outfit from my childhood it shows the wear and missing the head piece but i wont buy the new one #i think i many try and get Addys eventually if it sticks around long enough #i really wanted Kirstens birthday outfit but i missed it and they even show on the website a link to get it like remove that if your not #selling it #also they should know it sold well make another batch #also also i get selling the book with it but like also it just makes it like 10 dollars more expensive #and so many of us already have it #like sell it separately if your to sell it #there are so so so many of the original books around sold second hand now #also the josefina book from her birthday outfit it happened to be one of the 2 books of heres i already had #so now i have 2 #so sorry for the long tags but i just had to rant a little #that all said YAY rerelease

It’s interesting that a lot of doll companies that previously catered to girls that were like 8-13 in the 90s and early 2000s have had to change their product to market to younger girls or like 30 year old collectors because kids stop playing with dolls at like 8 now

#id say are kids really no longer interested in dolls #or are they just not making dolls intended for their age?#as someone who played with dolls past the 'normal age' to stop playing with dolls in the 2000s #i think there are always gonna be older kids who still like toys #just there might not be anything appealing to them anymore #like bratz were cool and they were mature and had cool older girls fashions #where is that now #id say rainbow high had that for a bit #but then they said fuck you were making slime toys again #just i think toy companies think tweens are lost because they probably arent their largest age to sell to #so they think its not worth it isolating those kids #who probably already feel pretty isolated because all their peers want to be older and they still want to be a kid #i just have a lot of thoughts and feelings about this and i really feel for kids like this in those rough ages
