A Sacrifice From Heavens { Ch. 2 }
His wings were as bright as the morning sun, his smile as sweet as it could get. There was no denying the purity of the angel, the good that lay within. A creature so sincere, even God himself had never second-guessed his actions. There was a certain aura that radiated from the angel that could simply lure you in. Dangerous, it could have been. Dangerous, it would have been, if only Jinyoung had happened to have even the slightest bit of darkness residing inside of him. Powerful, yet fair. Never once had he used his powers for anything that God would not approve of,
and yet nobody was able to fight the power of love.
Demons and angels alike had one thing in common: they were not made to fall in love. Angels had to serve God, whereas demons simply were not able to feel love at all. That was the lore, the past, that was everything they had ever lived by.
That was the biggest lie of all, for even the purest among the pure could sin when love had entered their lives. Oh yes, dear Jinyoung, favourite among angels, he had fallen indeed. Fallen in love, so to say, with the darkest creatures of the universe. A demon. Gayoon, his love was called. She was the complete opposite of what he had ever been or wished to be, her wings as dark as the night. Like summer and winter, the two would never be able to be together, had never meant to be together, and yet both had to exist for the other to be able to.
He had fallen, and he had fallen hard. It was the very first time that God did not approve of his decision { -- and obviously, neither did any of the other angels }. A perfect example for the rest; he had always been the one to look up to. God was forgiving, but God recognized sins and he did not approve of them. Neither did Jinyoung. Their love was strong, but it lasted for only a few days after he had given in to his feelings. A few days, and he had made his decision. True love or not, the angel would never be able to live in the knowledge that he had disappointed God and the rest of the angels. God had given him a choice, and Jinyoung knew what to do; the only thing that was left to do.
'I will be gone when morning calls. Do not look for me, do not follow me, do not ever think of me again.' The words were sweet, powerful and strict all the same. A honey-laced voice had always fitted him perfectly. 'You don't have to do this, we can start a life together. We can do this, Jinyoung, we don't have to be limited to where we came from!' There was desperation overflowing the woman's voice, but there was no turning back anymore-- there never had been. 'There's a time and a place for everyone to die, even for us, Gayoon. Even for us. This is the least and the best thing I can do for our God. Our creator, the one we should respect. I have disappointed him, it is the only way to set things right again. Do not fret, precious, your life will once become the way it was. My existence will fade and so will my memory.'
A smile, the sound of fluttering wings, and he was gone. There was no reason for him to keep the demon so close in his last few hours. Earth was calling him, and he would like to spend the last few hours of his life in the heavens he had always called home.
Hours passed and even that night came to an end. Prayers and wishes had been spoken and Jinyoung was finally on his way home. The final destination of each and every creature in the world.
'I'm ready,' the angel spoke as feet landed on the earth, the sound of his voice carried by the wind and left forgotten. It was a lonely place indeed.
Thud, thud. Even the sound of his footsteps was loud against the rotten grounds of the planet. Questions filled his head for just a mere moment; but questions were wrong if they doubted the actions of their very own God. What he was going to do here was the very best he could. Jinyoung knew no fear, for he knew that God would never sent him to a bad place for the sacrifice he was about to make. The sacrifice of life itself.
Wings were spread, the sun blinding as it shone against them, and with another jump, he was gone. He soared through the sky, letting the sun shine down on him as he did so. 'When you get there, you will know what to do,' he had been told. And he did. It was as if the sun burned out all of the memories of goodness, of love, of peace. Burned them out and spread them beneath the angel's wings, coloured the grounds with memories that dated back to thousands and thousands of years ago. When days had passed and the aura of light could be felt around the complete environment, placing a protective layer around what had to become the Academy's grounds, the angel was completely exhausted. Jinyoung gracefully landed on his knees, his heartbeat running low as he layed himself down on the ground, his body completely emptied from everything that had ever been. There were no more memories of the past. Nothing, but the memory of Gayoon; his very first and very last sin.
'I call to you, dear God, and I ask for my final forgiveness. I have done what you asked for, and I'm ready to go.'
And with those words, the angel disappeared into dust, leaving a bed of white roses as a final goodbye.
With a loud gasp, Sumin woke up again, dirty sweat trickling from her forehead as she sat up from the couch. Everything had felt so wrong. So completely wrong; she was still not sure what exactly had happened, but she knew that she felt seriously uncomfortable. Not once in her life had she had an experience so filled with love and light as this; and it made her feel sick. Almost as if she was vanishing herself. After all; she was created from the complete opposite; hate and revenge.
Without casting even a single look at her teammates, she left the teamroom to get some fresh air. Being in this place with some true creatures of the light was the last thing she wanted.
