I HAVE RETURNED AFTER WATCHING THE WHOLE FIRST SEASON… okay I actually didn’t like it when I first watched it. For the first couple of days I was like ehhh no this was bad but I have marinated on it!
I still feel like it was too short for me to really get good into :( at first I said ‘oh it seems like they rushed it’ but then I saw how tiny the Hedge Knight book actually is so I’ll retract that! Still, I wish I could’ve had mooreee … IDK like filler episodes I know that sounds weird to say but like it felt very straightforward and I would’ve liked some nonsense sprinkled in. LIKE PERSONALLY MORE JOUSTING

This show was gross. There’s literally no nicer way to put it. The diarrhea scene? That dude constantly snotting and spitting everywhere?? All the vomit?? I’m literally trying not to gag even writing those words eugh 😭 I have a weak stomach when it comes to like… puke and snot and stuff so I was NOT having a good time
Aerion’s hair. Awful. Horrendous. Tragic. His one redeeming quality could’ve been that he was pretty to look at but NOPE
The Targaryens felt… weird 😭😭 OKAY MAYBE THIS IS BECAUSE I PREFER TARGS AT THE HEIGHT OF THEIR POWER BUT LIKE why did they feel like randos here. We didn’t get to see as much Valarr as I would’ve liked either. For that matter, we barely got any of the Targs at all. And I knowwww it’s supposed to be about Dunk but how about idc show me pretty evil men… SKSKSK

FINAL CONCLUSION!? I think… that the reason I didn’t like it initially was because of the fsct that it’s not really about the Targs. Hotd is fun BECAUSE it’s like Targaryens all the time! And also dragons… paper dragons are not enough for me I need DRAGONS
BUT it also encouraged me to download the hedge knight on audible ( I think I actually got the hbo tie in edition that has three prequels?? Idk it’s what they had on audible available ) so I can hear more! Once I finish listening to it, I might go back and rewatch the season!
