Schedule update!!📣

That's right! We finished another fic! That means it's time to adjust the schedule!🎉🎉

Here's what the new schedule's gonna look like starting in May.

1st Mondays — OAK & BB

2nd Mondays — OCH & SMH

3rd Mondays — OAK & BB

4h Mondays — OA & BDK/LEG

5th Mondays— New One-shots or Sequels (when I can)

Do you see it? Do you see what I did? With the finishing up of HOD, not 1, but 2 more fics are getting upgraded to monthly updates! I'm so excited!

SMH will be replacing HOD for monthly updates every 2nd Monday. But since that leaves me with three fics remaining, I decided to make OA a permanent owner of 4th Mondays. The remaining two fics (BDK & LEG) will alternate each month.

The only change for fifth Mondays is that I might not always have something ready. My writing time's taken another hit, and I've been feeling pretty burnt out lately. But I'm still working on side fics when I have the time and energy.

Hope you're as excited as I am! I can't wait to get things moving in SMH and OA.😁🥰

A boom echoed in the distance. 

“What the–” A stone slammed into her with such a speed that it instantly dissipated into dust on contact. 

But not before knocking her out of the air.

She caught herself before falling to the ground and roared in outrage. “Who dares!”

The ice around Bilbo cracked, and he shook it off with a chuckle. “What? Did you think I was so desolate that I’d take a road trip alone?”

She snarled. “I’ll kill you and your little friend!”

“Oh, no,” Bilbo smiled. It might be considered friendly if it weren’t for the rows of teeth it showed off. “I wish you hadn’t said that.”

Reaching up to the sky, Bilbo stretched his arms. “Oh, you know. I decided to get out. See the world. Collect some treasures. Taste some delicacies. The typical roadtrip stuff.”

“So you came to Gondor?” She sniffed the back of his shoulder. “This is the Stone General’s territory. Where is he?” she hissed.

“Oh, him?” Bilbo extended his pinky claw and picked his teeth. “Would you believe me if I said he was on vacation? I’m territory sitting for him.”

“Do you take me for a fool?” Scatha snarled in his face.

“Do you want me to answer that honestly or . . .”

Hissing, she pulled back and slapped him, her claws digging deep jagged grooves into his face.

But Bilbo stood firm and took the full force of the blow. He didn’t even turn his head. Staring her in the eyes, his marble-like skin pulled itself back together.

“I’d say you hit like a human, but that’d be an insult to humans everywhere.”

But Thorin stepped into the study and closed the door behind him. Bilbo was standing at the hearth, one hand on the stone mantle. He was facing away from the door where Thorin had come through. 

His head was bowed and his hand to his face, but for what, Thorin couldn’t tell. “Are you alright?”

Bilbo spun around and breathed a sigh of relief. “It’s just you.”

His eyes were dry, but it didn’t make Thorin feel any better. Not when there was such evident distress on Bilbo’s face. 

He wasn’t crying.

But he looked like he should be.

“We, uh,” Bilbo faltered. His eloquence failing, he shrugged his hands and sat on the couch. With a deep sigh, he buried his face in his hands.

Thorin sat down beside him. “Do you want to talk about it?”

“No.”

“Who said that?” Thranduil demanded, looking around again carefully. “Why don’t you come out and speak to me face to face.”

“I’m afraid your nose is held too high for us to ever speak properly.”

“Enough with your insults!”

“Father–” Legolas tried to interrupt.

“Silence!” Thranduil snapped. “If you do not reveal yourself, I will have no choice but to hold the men responsible for harboring a wanted criminal.”

“What–”

But Bilbo didn’t give Bard the chance to protest.

“If you wish to see me, I’m afraid you’re going to have to kneel,” Bilbo returned.

“How dare you–”

Go back to your books… and your armchair. Plant your trees. Watch them grow. 🍁☕️

(The whirlwind with which these two characters have cemented themselves into my psyche. I adore them so much... l'd like to think this takes place in the depths of Erebor. While they have a still moment together. Soft, shy confessions before the raging storm.) 🥲

Thorin could feel him. It shouldn’t take long to catch up.

He set a hand on the door and pushed. 

It budged slightly before clunking against something solid.

Thorin froze. 

No way.

He gripped the handle, pulled, then gave it a firm shove.

It knocked against the barrier again.

The iron bar.

Had Bilbo locked him in?

How did he even lift it?!

Starting to panic, Thorin rammed his shoulder against the door. The wood groaned, but the bar didn’t budge.

Flicking off his hood, Bilbo pulled down his face covering. “You sound like you’ve never seen a hobbit before.”

“Bilbo!” Kili and Fili exclaimed and rushed at him.

But Bilbo wasn’t having it. He knocked them both over the head, altering their trajectory. “I’m not in the mood.”

“Bilbo!” Balin approached him with a sigh of relief. “I’m so glad to see ye safe.”

“Where’s Thorin?” Dwalin asked gruffly.

“He’s resting,” Bilbo said cryptically.

The dwarrow exchanged tense looks. It sounded so much more sinister when he said it.

~And I forgot yesterday's blip, too. I'm off my game.😩~

The door had still been barred. There was no other way in or out. Thorin had made sure of it. True, the door wasn’t in the best shape, but even Bilbo couldn’t have squeezed through any of those holes or cracks. He couldn’t have gotten out on his own at all.

So where was he?

He had to be there somewhere.

Jumping to his feet, Thorin cursed. 

The door had been barred. 

Until Thorin removed it.

He raced back out into the bedroom and flung open the door. He looked up and down the hallway, but still there was no Bilbo.

Thorin hadn’t been in the washroom for long. Bilbo couldn’t have gotten far, even if he had gotten out. 

Did that mean he was still in the room somewhere, and Thorin just wasn’t seeing him? 

That was entirely possible.

“You knocked down the tower?” King Théoden repeated. “How?”

“Boom powder!” Pippin mimicked the sound of an explosion. 

“It was just like one of Gandalf’s fireworks!” Merry laughed.

“Boom powder?” Boromir echoed.

“Eru have mercy,” Gandalf breathed. “It’s a wonder you survived! What in middle-earth were you thinking?!”

The hobbits exchanged a sheepish look, mischievous grins growing on their faces.

“I’d be one hell of a prank,” Merry answered quietly, and they both broke out in giggles.

“Eru save us all from the mischief of hobbits!” Gandalf shouted and spurred his horse on.

With that the small company followed the line of rubble in silent curiosity. It wasn’t until they’d nearly reached the camp that had once spread out under the tower’s shadow that answers began to present themselves.

Legolas gasped softly.

“What?! What is it?!” Gimli gripped his axe, ready to wield it at a moment’s notice.

“What do you see, Legolas?” Aragorn asked, scanning the rubble.

“Perhaps the most fearsome creatures to ever walk middle-earth,” Legolas said seriously. “I understand now. It makes perfect sense.”

“What are ye talking about, ye daft elf!” Gimli tried to see around him.

“Legolas?” Aragorn prompted.

But Legolas turned to him with a grin. “It’s alright. They’re on our side.”

“This time,” Gandalf muttered under his breath.
