Regarding fanfictions, I have not written a single one. But I feel like I want to. And yes in my hc, Ominis becomes the dom over Nancy for very valid reasons and here are my thoughts:
Ominis has many insecurities about many things. He is being underestimated for being blind and being discriminated for being part of a pureblood dark wizard family.
Throughout the school year, Nancy has a stronger friendship with Sebastian. She often accompanies him in his missions and she works in favor of Sebastian like trying to access the Scriptorium and casting Imperio on Ominis.
In their 6th year, (in my hc) Sebastian separates himself from Ominis and Nancy due to guilt and trauma over his family affairs. Since then, Ominis took the opportunity to be closer to Nancy and Nancy falls for him.
Ominis becomes the dom because Nancy has a high and well-respected reputation in Hogwarts. After having defeated Ranrok as a Dragon saving Hogwarts, being the biggest contributor to winning the House Cup, and also for her intelligence and adaptability in learning 4 years of academic workload in a year and taking the time to help other students and townspeople.
Because of her strong image in the Wizarding World, when Ominis gets into a relationship with her, this skyrocketed his self-esteem and ego. Being able to control and dominate a high-value woman like Nancy makes him feel so much more powerful.
Also Nancy finds him attractive for being able to control and tame her. She wants a man who is stronger and more powerful than her.
Though Ominis looks like a softie at first, but when they are both alone, Nancy enjoys the unpredictable nature and unexpected dominant side of Ominis. And this is actually very attractive and irresistible to her. She becomes the submissive one in private, giving in to anything Ominis wants and she trusts him very well. But in public, she knows how to carry herself with class and dignity.
So yeah, those are my thoughts and I hope this answers your question π
