So I finally finished this piece of art, the first piece of art actually since I moved countries. I've been staring at this for so long it doesn't even look real anymore and it feels weird to look at it... Anyway, what is done is done, right?

Disclaimer: I did use AI for the proportions and pose, but the rest is drawn by hand. Drawn with keyboard and mouse actually, and I have the layers in Photoshop to show for it.

SUBNAUTICA BELOW ZERO SPOILERS!

Finished Subnautica: Below Zero, had to draw some fanart because I think this lad is cool.

Tidbits:

I draw with keyboard and mouse.

Estimated time spent on the art is around 36 hours.

I don't know how to draw backgrounds at all.

The original size of this artwork was 7200 x 10800, but as it was too big I downsized it 50%.

This was the first artwork I've done in this style, as I usually experiment with styles. Also the largest artwork I've done in my life.

Shading is off because I don't know how to shade.

I've not posted a lot since my work-life balance has been so out of whack as of recently. I've had no enery or willpower to even make the most bare minium. However, the past few days I've been working on my new tier 1 emotes for my twitch: a goth vampire. I guess? I guess. Here's to not dying in a heatwave.

The thing that makes me sad about the Eurovision results is that Loreen’s victory lacks everything that makes a Eurovision victory great:

A lesser known artist catapulted into stardom? She’s been internationally known for years.

Their country getting a chance to host after never/rarely doing so before? Sweden’s had it 6 times already.

An underdog taking the crown by being an audience pleaser? She was the bookies’ favourite from the start.

Eurovision being one of the biggest, most exciting things they’ve ever done? She’s done it all before.

None of these things are personally Loreen’s fault, and I actually feel bad for her that this win will be remembered as one that the public clearly wanted to give to someone else. But it does all feel extra slimy and calculated on Sweden’s part, especially given the 50th anniversary of ABBA’s Waterloo just happening to be next year. It all feels very hollow.

I’m so salty rn you’d think a pagan tried to banish over how Finland was highkey robbed over the Eurovision victory because jury screwed them over. And how the jury just screwed over Norway. And Germany. AND CZECHIA TOO. I swear I’ve never seen a more rigged vote and I’m 5000% in the camp that this was rigged due to ABBA’s anniversary with how much the casters kept throwing the “oooh nobody has won eurovision twice :)) will it happen again for ABBA’s anniversary??” stuff around like for forks sake.

Like yeah Sweden was good and should have been in top 10 but winning? nah. My Sister’s Crown so seriously underrated alongside Queen of the kings and Blood and Glitter it’s unbelieveable. Should have been top 5.

! TW MATURE / SPOILERS DE !

So I think I finally got it. Based on my last post and the feedback I got, I finally drew Lely and how I think he would have looked when he was alive.

Extra tidbits because why not: 

- I used the palette from Raul Kortenaer's Mercenary avatar, as they were brothers so it would only be fitting.  -  It was described he had a facial injury around his jaw that had shredded his jaw and made him look older than he is; it was also described he had a lot of smaller injuries. I am not sure if I was able to capture all of them. Also male-pattern baldness as he was 42! - I draw with keyboard and mouse so drawing pressure-sensitive areas (fancy beards, hair) not really possible. Standard brushes on Photoshop, unsure which.  - The border is indeed trying to mimic the picture border in-game. - The draft picture with the progess how he evolved over the past few days.

Now I can finally rest sort of knowing how The Hanged Man would looked while he was alive.

DISCO ELYSIUM SPOILERS AHEAD

-- So at the moment I’m obsessed with Disco Elysium and all the lore. I’m also a very curious bastard. I realized every character in Disco Elysium had a portrait of them in an “alive” state - besides Lely. Lely is only described in the very non-alive bloated state, which leads me to believe his in-game portrait is not how he looked when he was alive.

During the visual calculus/perception skill check in Klaasjes room you see both Lely and Klaasje in .. action... but you also see a very transparent image of - who I can only assume is Lely - in his almost-alive state (as there’s blood dropping from his mouth). So with my limited time and drawing skills I tried to draft Lely when he was still alive with my keyboard and mouse. 

I can only assume he was the same frame/body build as the other mercs, especially Raul, as he had done his ... tours... with them. It was described that he had several scars that made him look older than he was, but I was not able to really capture this. I was not able to find really anyone else who had drawn Lely in his “alive” state (only one person!) so here is my quick draft.
