Artist’s Statement
A passionate Brisbane based practitioner specialising in producing and writing, Dominique Lizzio is currently completing her last semester studying a Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in Film, Screen and New Media. Throughout her university ventures Dominique has honed a variety of creative skills, finding fascination and fulfilment in the creative arts on screen. Dominique finds her love for her craft intensifies when delving into pertinent social and environmental issues as well as telling the stories of the mundane, that are often overlooked and cast aside.
The past year Dominique worked as the writer on an upcoming court-room drama ‘Oxford Street’ sparking an important conversation on the rights of the LGBTQI+ community in Australia and across the world. Most recently she produced an upcoming short documentary, ‘Dearly Departed’ shedding light on the End of Life Doula industry and the importance of breaking down the unspoken taboo surrounding death in western societies.
As a filmmaker, Dominique craves the opportunity to illuminate poignant stories that she finds herself personally drawn too, inviting her audiences to see the beauty of every story, along side her.
