Ok question for all the knowledgeable ppl with young dressage prospects

I’m a little confused about the materiale rules. My mare will be turning 36 months this March, but would I have to wait until Jan 2021 to compete her as a 3 year old? Would I then have all of 2021 to show her as a 3 yr old even though she’d turn 4 in March?

So to kick off the stallion posts, here’s the little star that I’ve been keeping my eye on since Lamplight 2019, where he won the Markel/USEF 5-year old dressage championship, along with a ‘10′ trot score!

This lovely boy is Sole Mio, owned by Leslie Waterman. He also won the 2018 4-year old championship, but I wasn’t paying much attention to young stallions at the time. He’s by Stanford out of Donna-Rafaela. Mio is a Rhinelander and was bred in Germany by ZG Wencek.
