Hey. It’s been awhile. A lot has happened. I’m not sure how to even start with all of it. Not sure I even should, really.

Anyhow. I know most of us are Detectives. I know my offer is really late, and I’m sorry. But if anyone needs to talk about anything, relating to the end of our case or not, I’m here :)

Which leads me into the reason I’m writing this letter, other than to establish I’m not dead. Does anyone know where their Jake is? Or what happened to him? I’ve been trying to look, but I don’t have any leads. Other than the mines, but I haven’t found much there yet

Oh, whoops, there might be new people reading this. Crash course: supernatural things exist, I’m a version of the amateur detective whose “phone number” was sent to Thomas in the Duskwood case, I say “a version” because alternate universes exist and this letter exchange goes to quite a few people and universes, call me Yu, I have a “twin” nicknamed Troublemaker, yes those are nicknames and not our real names because almost no one here uses real names, and this letter has been sent to who knows how many other people too, most of them in the same position as us or at least having some connection to the Duskwood case.

I’ll try to catch anyone new up in further detail on request.

Quick updates on situations for people who have been following for longer: Venn is dead. Flower is alive again for some reason. There’s a new ruthless killer entity running around, who doesn’t have a name I know of but is usually called “that child” or “The Child”. Don’t be fooled by the name, she’s bad news. Inky’s… changed. Not as cruel, at least to us. There’s so many other things, but I don’t even know where to start with all of them, so I guess I’ll leave it at that for now.

Despite everything, it’s oddly nice to be writing again. Though I gotta wonder if anyone’s going to respond this time.

Secret Noir really changed a little? I have to admit, I am surprised…But if one person can change then why wouldn’t an entity?

I admit, for the rest I should write a whole new letter. I am still waiting for an answer as to which truths I can tell you or whether our little siren is the one to tell you in person.

Venn’s death can be called unfortunate at least, depending from which side you’re looking at it.

Believe me, I would have responded…But when the fates of a universe deside that it’s better off without the multiverse? Then nothing can be done. Even though…The Child sends a chilling sensation down my spine. What is it with crazy entities

A woman with shoulder-length, slightly wavy hair is visible. She's on the ground, a pink-greenish line or bond coming out of her. It seems to be made of mist.

The "camera" pans down to what seems to be the paw of a mountain lion on the bond. Claws dig into the misty bond, a faint yelp audible as the lion yanks the woman closer to itself.

Something happens. It's not clear what but it makes the mountain lion recoil and hiss in pain. It bites into the bond, and the woman goes limp. Reality bends and screeches.

Dear Diary,

Many things occurred during your absence. A lot of new entities stepped into the light, whereas another, quite thankfully, is now another resident in hell.

Venn, an entity that used to be based around acidity and abandonment, has been killed. He had been targetting Troublemaker and Yu for a long while. Did I even get to tell you about them? Or him?

Unfortunately, shortly after Venn’s death, a new entity appeared. [scribbled out]

My pardon for the untidiness. I am fairly uncertain how to organize this entry.

During the course of previous events, a child stranded at the cottage the twins and I were housing in. We took her in. I admit... [sribbled out] No. This is too personal and delicate.

I will return to you later. I will go ahead and attempt to collect my thoughts, so I do not ruin your pages further.

...It really has been almost a year, huh?

You just reminded me, I forgot to ask how sweet little Sophie is doing! She was such a good host to me. So much fear and pain, and it was so easy to convince her to make a little deal. Has the little sweetheart had any more nightmares of what she did when I was possessing her? :)

Oh, and I know you left your safe little hideout, all four of you. That silly fragment of a failed weapon can’t protect you forever, you know.

I’ll make sure your deaths are all very, very slow, and I’ll make sure sweet little Sophie is awake and watching everything the whole time. Maybe I’ll start with that Troublemaker, and make you watch, too! That sounds like a lot of fun.

Oh, and I wouldn’t be confident in your chances. I know who’s up against me. That collective, the two little broken fragments of the weapon, Genesis, the ex-revenant, the assassin, my sister, so many more besides. But, in all the years I’ve lived, I’ve learned something: Everyone slips up eventually :)

That’s how I managed to corrupt the first multiverse and destroy the second and third, after all.

[Though, for those used to Inky’s writing, you might notice the light and the darkness are both harsher than usual, and there’s a quiet hiss of static you can just barely hear.]

I get arrested for a few weeks, and suddenly you think you can waltz into my game and make threats to my audience? Really, now, you’d think so many years of experience would make you at least slightly wiser 🤭

But I suppose I should’ve known better. You got stuck in a glorified music box for millennia, after all, so I guess you really can’t be too clever.

Oh, and as for your pathetic attempts at threats: Domino is under my protection as a member of my audience, Sophie is under my protection as audience by proxy, the twins are both under my protection; and, naturally, as they are all guests in my plane, I am of course obliged for that reason as well to subdue or eliminate you should you make an attempt on their lives 😊

Try me, The Child, and we’ll see just how much of a “failed fragment” of a weapon I am.
