"Originally it was not called 'Good Luck, Babe!', it was called 'Good Luck, Jane!", but my co-writer and I kept getting in arguments about it, so it became 'Good Luck, Babe!'." CHAPPELL ROAN on 'Good Luck, Babe!'
I was going through old episodes and was going to gif this, but....it's just not the same without being able to hear Brennan yell, "TITTIES!" So, video.
This is the most fun this man has ever had in his entire life
What if water didn't have surface tension and whenever you spilled some, the whole floor of your entire apartment was covered in a 2 micrometer deep puddle
That'd be bad I think
Context: This is a grocery store in the town of Black Mountain, NC, which was devastated by Hurricane Helene. The police will not let anyone in to get food or clean water or even baby formula and diapers, not even if they have cash to pay. This is being framed as "stopping looters". This is apparently the best thing the cops have to do with their time, during a widespread emergency.
The store has no power - the food will rot anyway.
Looting is an EXTREMELY decisive issue in Emergency Management. Mostly because no one can actually agree on what looting IS, as evidenced above.
I'll be very interested in what the long term opinions on "looting" in Helene end up being.
Y'all I wanna clarify something here, since I haven't seen anyone pointing fingers.
This wasn't just a nameless grocery store. This was an Ingles. And reportedly, Walmart did the same.
Meanwhile, Publix opened its doors to the community on the honor system. Take what you need. Pay for what you can. And remember us in the future.
I haven't seen any news outlets mention these stores by name. Stop protecting companies that won't protect people. Say their names. Spread the word. And don't forget.
Just saw an ad for fucking Kellog's cornflakes wherein a shirtless blindfolded man tied to a bed is like "Wait.. are you... eating??" and it pans across the bed to reveal that his partner is, indeed, too distracted to have sex with him bc she is chowing down on corn flakes. Now I've been caught up in wondering whether:
a) John Harvey Kellog would despise this ad; the mere proximity of bondage-play to his brand name and beloved anti-porn flakes is unforgivable
b) John Harvey Kellog would enjoy this ad, because it shows a young woman forsaking the temptations of the flesh in favour of eating a wholesome and nourishing bowl of cornflakes
Cast your vote
A - that crunchy old man is rolling in his grave
B - it's literally demonstrating the flakes' intended purpose
C - what in the goddamn hell are you people talking about
my mythology pet peeve is when someone describes a scenario in which they keep nearly getting something and then having it snatched away, and everyone's like "one must imagine sisyphus" no!!! one must imagine TANTALUS!!! sisyphus = being made to perform a pointless, aggravating task over and over without ever making any progress. tantalus = being offered a glorious reward only for it to vanish as soon as you reach for it. they are NOT the same
