I genuinely hate how much this scene spooked me, but I love it anyway
Last week The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences announced the shortlist for the 94th Oscars, with Ghostbusters: Afterlife being included within the Best Visual Effects category.
In celebration of the announcement, Ghostbusters: Afterlife special make-up and creature designer Arjen Tuiten shared a retro VHS-themed collection package highlighting just some of the visual effects from the film, giving us a much closer look at Gozer the Gozerian, the Terror Dogs, and one of our first, clear shots of the aged, CGI model of Egon Spengler, which featured the likeness of the late Harold Ramis.

I just wanna talk about how much I LOVE the way Janine gets to really take control of her sexual agency in GB2. Like, how many 80s comedies were doing that? Not many. Even in the first film, she’s the one pursuing and flirting with Egon. She’s never an object to be chased around a desk. That’s partially due to Dan and Harold and the fact that they never write their female characters as anything other than real and human, but it’s also mainly due in part to the way Annie Potts effortlessly gives Janine that “I’m in control but not cocky about it” attitude.
In GB2? Baby girl is GETTING WHAT SHE WANTS. And while I don’t like the Louis/Janine pairing very much, I love that they gave a female character the space to be funny and sexual and confident and all the things that real women are. That’s why I love the characters in this franchise so much, they feel like people you might actually know in real life. Good for her.
