A Real World, Out Of Reach. What Will You Do?

Welcome to the [Don't Hug Me I'm Digital] blog. This is a crossover AU between DHMIS and TADC. As of this post, this blog is a WIP. Feel free to send asks as I work to build these 2 AUS.

One will take place in the DHMIS world, with the cast of the Amazing Digital Circus.

The other shall take place in the circus, starring the cast of DHMIS.

Ask rules are simple. Remember that behind this blog, a person still exists. Don't ask things that you wouldn't ask a real person, okay? Basically, please just be normal. No NSFW is allowed.

As blog mod, you can call me.. [Soup.] Of course, I'm not gonna be this serious the entire time. Truthfully, this is just for the sake of the mysterious part of the blog.

What do you plan for kinger's design? (If you have it in mind)

I'm.. not exactly sure. I can't even figure out what role Kinger would take.

None of the teachers really stand out as a role that would fit Kinger, therefore I unfortunately don't have anything planned for his design. Not yet, at least.

Maybe Ragatha could be the electricity teacher? She seems to be the only one who genuinely teaches the trio stuff, plus doesn’t try to hurt them. Plus she helped Yellow Guy with his batteries(without consent but still), which is similar to how Ragatha tries to help Pomni get used to the circus!

You were correct about the part where Electricity seems to be kindest teacher. Every other teacher in the web series ended up harming the cast one way or another. Meanwhile, the only teachers that I would say are "friendly" in the show would be the Briefcase (who ditches the lesson, so he doesn't exactly count) and Electricity. I'm also not counting any of the secondary teachers (like Unemployed Brendon, the small cans from the web series, and any teacher that appears but isn't really an important part of the episode.) Due to all of this, I decided to go with this suggestion and turn Ragatha into the electricity teacher! This is also partially because I feel like she wouldn't exactly fit any of the other roles that might've captured her personality.

Just some small notes: Her eyes represent her battery level, and she seems to always be at 50%. I just thought that'd be a fun detail. I hope you all like her design!

So i'm guessing Ragatha will be Sketchbook, right?

I actually have another idea in mind for Ragatha, thanks to another ask that gave me the suggestion.

Gangle is most likely going to take the role of Sketchbook. I just felt like Gangle would fit the role better than Ragatha.

Duck and Red Guy are probably going to take Jax and Zooble's roles- considering the fact that Jax and Zooble took their roles. If that kind of makes sense..

Like how Pomni and Yellow Guy switched roles.

Here's the design I came up with for Zooble; I tried to keep the same vibe of having a bunch of random parts slapped together, but I made it sewing themed to reference Red Guy's yarn body. I want to thank @kingofthefortress again for helping me draft this design.

Also, if the cape seems odd, it's because I tried to base it off of those plush pin holders. I'm not exactly sure what they're called..

I think before we worry about getting enough tadc characters we should fill out the positions for characters we already have. I think Gangle or Bubble could be Sketchbook (would also be funny if Kaufmo was the coffin since he’s basically dead in canon)

Yeah, I suppose you're right. I think Gangle or Ragatha might end up being Sketchbook, I'm not sure about Kinger..

Also that Kaufmo being the coffin? I approve. It's hilarious, evil, and I love it.

Besides that though, I want the characters to have at least some sort of relation, either personality wise or character wise. Like how Pomni and Yellow Guy are both main characters who are trapped, Zooble and Red Guy are both mostly uncaring, Jax and Duck are both kind of- well- pieces of garbage, etc.

Not exactly sure where I would fit Gangle (who loves theater, is a bunch of ribbons, and cries a lot/needs a mask to help her stay happy), Kinger (whos kind of crazy and likes bugs), and Ragatha (who is arguably the nicest out of all the TADC characters, so its gonna be hard to put her in the role of the teachers who happen to be.. just a BIT aggressive.)

TL;DR--Kaufmo being the coffin is an approved idea, and I'm not sure where to put the rest of the TADC cast, but either Ragatha or Gangle will be sketchbook.

Surprise! There's someone else helping out with the blog! They wanted to draw Caine, so here we have him!

He'll be taking the role of Lesley--I feel like he'd probably be similar to Lesley but less.. "hidden in the shadows," you know? Either he'd be similar to his original self (In the sense that Pomni, Jax, and Zooble would know about him) or he'd be more similar to Lesley (nobody really knows he exists, only Pomni probably would)

I crochet sometimes (hides 23 foot long crochet thingy i made last february) so i have lots of yarn

idk but i wanted to share the idea cuz. the cone spool reminds me sort of of a closing cylinder which is close-ish to a triangle i guess??? theres my mini sketch of what i thought it mighy look like

(hhh beading is much more my style-)

That- actually works much better as a design. It combines about..all of the original designs I had. It keeps the obvious fact that Zooble's head would be made out of yarn, but also keeps it a triangle-ish shape. It also combines the third idea I had, I just honestly didn't know about cone spools.

Hello! I really like the idea of this au, and i thought i would try to help out. Maybe you can add string to Zooble's head and then layer the eyes over it? The same way red guy's "face" is, while still keeping Zooble's headshape underneath it. Maybe even make the string go lower the thinner the triangle is, since (i assume) the string could com from the top of their head. Another thing that might help, incase you didnt know gooseworxs comfirmed here on Tumblr that Zooble constantly changes their pieces, that's why they look a bit different on their room door, so their design can be altered as much as you please for it to fit red guy more, aswel as the colors. Hope this helps somehow!

The circle head feels nothing like Zooble, but it makes it more obvious that I intended for the head to be a ball of yarn. I mentioned the other head idea earlier; which I attached as a third image. I think it would capture the idea of Zooble not having a circle head, but it also just.. doesn't feel right?

I feel like the triangle head doesn't really represent the yarn theme, though. Not sure how to feel about either idea..

Hello. Congrats on being the first ask. Take this:

Don't Hug Me I'm Digital-- YELLOW GUY

Now, hear me out; you may be wondering: Why is he green???? This was because yellow guy's original design is primarily yellow and blue. I was worried if I used yellow as the second color in his outfit, it'd match his skin. So I went with green, which is associated with his eyes in the show. I'm not sure if I should change it to red or not, I may alter the color scheme a bit on this design..

I was thinking; rather than having a faulty battery (like the original show) maybe Yellow Guy lost part of his code when he was transported into the digital realm? Basically; he lost part of himself. When he gets this code back, his eyes are green and he acts completely different. Similar to the show, when he gets a new battery..

Who would be the “teachers”? Will it just be Caine?

No, it's not going to be just Caine. Caine already has his role fulfilled, he just needs to be drawn;

The teachers would ideally be the main TADC cast, but the main issue I have is that there are way too many teachers compared to the TADC cast.

If my notes are correct, theres about 12 teachers? 13 I suppose, considering I grouped the twins together. This also isn't even counting the side characters that appear, like the workers in the first episode of the show, the cans in the web series, etc.

Meanwhile, theres only 3 TADC cast members left who don't have roles. Or atleast, members that aren't an AI/a side character. If we count the AIS and side charatcers (Moon, Sun, Bubble) then there'd be 6. That still wouldn't be enough. My current idea is to add the abstractions on top (which would make the number about 16) and also make use of gloinks + NPCS.

I'm not entirely sure if that's a good idea, though? I do have designs for the abstractions, yes, but those might as well be fanon. I don't really know how I feel about including the designs, but I also don't want to make all the abstractions the exact same (even though Gooseworx confirmed all of them are the same design.)

TL;DR--No, Caine isn't going to be all the teachers, but there are still issues. There's too many teachers compared to TADC cast members unless I include AIs and abstractions, most of which have fanon designs.

like keep general shape but make it Yarn

That's a good idea and also what I was thinking after I posted the statement about Red Guy.

..Issue--It's really hard to get Zooble's head shape down. Without the triangle head, I worry that Zooble wouldn't really..look like themself, you know?

I've done a few doodles, which I will most likely upload, but I still need to figure out how to get a good head shape.

Using a shape like this was one of my ideas (pictured below.)

I'm still not confident when it comes to the design, though.

..Honestly?

That's a good question. It's part of the reason I'm avoiding red guy.

He's.. interesting, to be honest.

Here's my ramblings as an explanation below:

So, first of all, I know some of my viewers haven't watched DHMIS. To put it simply, Red Guy kind of.. doesn't act like he cares. Obviously he seems to care, considering the web series + some moments in the show. He's not exactly like Jax though, being a piece of garbage human being. He's more.. monotone.

That's the best way I can explain him. But honestly, his personality and design is what troubles me. Obviously theres characters I can rule out immediately, like the characters who already have roles decided (Caine, Pomni, and Jax) and characters who just..don't exactly fit the role (Gangle and Kinger.) But the other options trouble me:

Zooble - Personality wise, Zooble feels like they fit most?.. Their personality is closest to Red Guy's personality. My main issue is the design. Red guy is big yarn creature, and zooble is this..almost plastic thing made of objects. It's going to be hard to combine these designs, honestly.

Ragatha - First of all, I'm aware Ragatha's personality is nothing like Red Guy's, right? But..the design. Both of them have something to do with fabric/yarn. It feels like it'd be easier to design her. Plus, I kind of want to explore the dynamic she might have in the place of Red Guy alongside Pomni and Jax? But I also don't want to just..completely replace Red Guy's personality. Pomni and Jax fit their roles, Ragatha wouldn't.

TL;DR--Zooble fits the personality but it would be hard to design them, and Ragatha can be easy to design but doesn't fit the personality.

There might be other options, but none appear obvious to me right now. If..anyone has any suggestions, feel free to send an ask, reblog, or reply. Any advice would be appreciated.

Don't Hug Me I'm Digital--JAX

This was- a slightly hard design, to say the least.

Now, I know what you might be thinking; why is Jax green? This is because he's taking the role of duck. Similar to how I drew Pomni, I wanted to mix the designs. Of course, I didn't want to make Jax some sort of. .duck.. rabbit.. hybrid. That'd be horrifying. So I made him green instead! For the sake of reference to his original design, I added that patch on his eye, and gave him the dark purple suit rather than a dark brown suit. He kind of looks like a zombie, honestly.

I'd say Jax fits Duck's role. Both of pieces of digital garbage. I mean that affectionately by the way Jax fans don't kill me-
