Okay, so I might get a bunch of hate for saying this but I would also like to hear anyone else's perspective on this.
Like I think one of the reasons I'm a bit annoyed by the Weak Hero kdrama has to be for the fact that they definitely could have been so much fucking better had they included a few characters from webtoon into the drama.
And I know *some* people that have watched the drama may not get it, but the writing for season 2 was extremely lack lustre compared to that of season 1. And before *some* of yall come out and say that those who appreciate the webtoon more can't stand adaptations I hope you understand that the first season of WHC was basically like fanfiction of Sieun's backstory in the webtoon but those of us who adored the story still very much enjoyed the show.
I did have some criticisms tho overall for the message behind the show after they had made some major changes to Sieun's motivations and character.
While season 1 deviates alot (and I mean alot💀) from the webtoon's backstory for Sieun, one of it's key changes that really sort of makes the message of the story a bit unclear was how they changed Sieun's relationship with fighting.
In the drama he is very much unwilling to cross the line when fighting back his bullies due to the promise he made with drama Suho. And while that does have it's own merit when teaching the meaning of the story I feel like it falls flat compared to what the webtoon wanted to actually convey.
The difference in mentality is jarring especially when you see that they both share entirely different opinions about crossing the line. "Don't cross the line.." vs "Fuck that shitty fucking line..." mentality.
The message that Sieun's character wanted to portray was that allowing leniency for bullies who repeatedly cross the line just does not truly teach them a lesson, especially to the adults who never take the situation seriously. The webtoon really emphasizes on the dangers of being a bystander and the sort of weak willed nature and lack of disciplining from the appropriate authorities and in fact highlights Sieun's disdain for bystanders. So yeah. Had webtoon Sieun met drama Beomsoek he probably would have never been his friend just for the fact that he drugged him for (in Sieun's eyes ) being a coward wayy before for what bro was about to do to Suho in the drama.
I never understood why they sort of changed his mentality in the drama, I felt it undermined a lot how the victims of the bullied felt especially those who lost someone dear to them because of it.
Not to mention if they had brought in Teaoh (teddy jin) for the second season it would have been much more interesting to see them make him a foil for Beomsoek's character. Since He went from being an enemy to friend.
And I am definitely baffled by the so called union in the drama. I don't think it could be called that if they don't have that many members.
Also killing of Baekjin Na's character so earlier on in the series kinda felt dumb especially since he was such a presence in the webtoon, he was an ever shrouding danger and consequence for both protagonists and antagonists.
Not to mention removing his backstory from the webtoon and making him and Baku childhood friends is generally diabolical especially for those who read the webtoon. Not to mention that since they have killed him off we could never see the dynamic between Sieun and Baekjin which was one of the most interesting dynamics in the webtoon. Especially since they knew of each other's identity but even so they kept secretly pushing each other's intellect without the knowledge of those they surrounded themselves with. They truly had a unique connection. And because of that I felt it did disservice to the webtoon.
But yeah this rambling session was very much unorganized but yeah let me know how you all feel.
Perfect Match 五福临门 (2025) Dir. Yang Huan
thinking about how the hunger games were designed to prove that without society, order, government, someone to rule, we devolve into little more than animals, and how the games themselves prove over and over again that this is not true. We see it in every single game we witness.
Katniss placing flowers around Rue's body in the arena. Thresh sparing Katniss because she was kind to Rue, even though he was making it that much harder for himself to win.
Haymitch going back for Maysilee after hearing her scream even though their alliance had been broken. Haymitch holding her as she dies the same way Katniss did Rue.
Coral's "I can't have killed them all for nothing" when she realizes she's not going home. Lamina cutting down Marcus at great personal risk. And, my favorite moment in tbosas, Reaper collecting the bodies of his fellow tributes, his peers, even the ones who tried to kill him, into a pile. Taking the weapons from their hands. Closing their eyes and crossing their arms in the best approximation of a proper burial he can manage, covering them with the Capitol flag as a makeshift shroud.
The Games bring out the worst in people, yes. But despite the extreme circumstances, despite the exterior pressure of the Capitol, despite the fact that it could mean pain and heartbreak and death, it also shows that people have an enormous capacity for goodness. That even in a situation purposefully designed to make empathy impossible, people can't help but have it anyway.
Snow looks at the Games and all he can see is what's inside himself-- this pure animalistic drive to conquer and defeat. He kills and it feels good and he thinks that everyone else must feel that way too. He doesn't realize (maybe can't realize) that he is the exception, not the rule. He cannot see outside himself, outside his own warped perspective, to realize that the fact that people do show humanity in the games proves his entire worldview wrong.
No but the Hunger Games really said "what do you hate more- the atrocities or the people who commit them against you? Because like it or not there IS a difference. If you hate the people who commit acts of pure evil more than you hate the acts themselves, what will stop you from becoming just like your enemies in your pursuit of justice? What will keep you from commiting those very same acts against THEM when the opportunity arises? And what then? The cycle of pain and suffering will never stop. Round and round it'll go. Nothing will ever change. But. BUT. If you hate the atrocities. If you hate the vile, senseless acts MORE than you hate the people who did them to you. If you are able to see that evil is evil regardless of who does it... The cycle ends with you. No, you may never get justice. But you will never be responsible for making others, even your enemies, suffer the same crimes you have. The atrocities will never be committed by you, never by your hand. And that's the way you change the world. It's the ONLY way" and that's why I am sure it will never stop being one of the most relevant works of fiction ever created
You had fun when you killed everyone here. Didn't you?You can kill anyone you want to kill and save anyone you want to save. It feels like being a deity. Babe, you and I can do anything together from now on. Aren't you excited already?

a break from the tsats negativity: top five apollo slay moments let's gooooo
best ask ever i love youuuuuuu
i’ll probably re-read ToA soon and write a better version of this but for now on top of my head:
5) Honestly I need to reread but there’s a scene in ToN where he has to get rid of security guards and he beats the shit out of them with nothing on his hands except spite and a slightly-over-the-average strenght. I was going insane about it.
4) That scene with Commodus in the flashback of TDP. his hair, his throwing grapes in Commodus’ mouth, the fact that he’s the protagonist of the only implied sex scene (post-sex scene but you get me) in RR’s books, his bitches (=Commodus), his “and you’re perfect”.
3) The Titan’s Curse in general. his shades, his car, his hotness, his putting headphones on while Zeus speaks, his haiku, his abs, his hair, his drip, his bitches (=all of us)
2) The smile and “BOO” in TTT. LORD
1) Him coming back to Olympus and getting bigger and bigger in the throne room and being like “so who won the bet?🤨” i’m not even joking i was hyperventilating
honorable mentions to: blinding Commodus, killing Commodus with his voice, drowning Commodus, having the best sex ever with Naomi Solace, beating the shit out of Ares in the Olympus’ Olympics which happens in mythology but not in RR’s books and i’m saying it anyway, all his roasts, yelling at Incitatus (Caligula’s horse) that he’s not going to win because “you have no opposable thumb!!” as if that’s the biggest gotcha ever.
The Burning Maze is my favorite TOA book and it brings me so much pain… so much pain… but I LOVE IT!!!!
I love that Grover is in it! (He is one of my favorite characters from the series) and Meg dealing with going back to her childhood home! The Arrow of Dodona was, as always, a fantastic character.
It was nice to see Piper and Jason again and that, even though they broke up, they still deeply cared for each other. Caligula was such a good antagonist and Medea was also so good, especially with Piper taking revenge and killing Medea.
Crest was such a fun character and his death is kind of traumatizing, like, Apollo is trapped, in literal pain and forgetting himself as Grover and Meg were dangled over Helios’s essence and Crest kept distracting Medea even as he was stabbed by her like… that’s SO FUCKING DARK!!
I love how it ended with Apollo vowing to keep Jason’s promise to remember to be human.
Other miscellaneous things that I enjoyed was also:
Apollo’s dreams that involved Caligula, like the one in which he ordered a guard to kill Tiberius and the one in which he basically pretended to be the Sun God.
I also liked Caligula’s motives in that Apollo was VERY valuable to him alive, but rather than being like Commodus, who wanted to kill him so that he can rename Indianapolis to Commodianapolis, he wanted to take Apollo’s remaining essence and combine it with Helios’s to become the new Sun God (not to say that I didn’t like Commodus’s motives, it’s just that Caligula is very interesting in that he wanted to become the Sun God)
Honestly Caligula as a whole was such a good character. He has such an intimidating presence throughout the book, and I loved it when he finally got to see Apollo he kind of gushed over him, being excited to finally have him in his clutches, and I love how after Apollo stabbed himself he was all ‘I won’t touch a sorceress’s purse’ and how he was so upset that Piper was knocked unconscious. Honestly if there ever is a TOA show they gotta cast the Emperors right because all the Emperors are horrible yet interesting in their own merit.
I love the conversation that Jason and Apollo had before they left his dorm. I love how Jason tells Apollo that he tried to defend him to Zeus and that Apollo was shocked. I love how Jason made him promise to remember his experience being human and how, even to the last book, Apollo is still thinking about the promise he made.
I love how Meg is just able to show Apollo her memories?? How the fuck did she learn to do that??!! Also the fact that it’s never addressed how she can do this.
Speaking of Meg, I love how revenge obsessed she is, like she was full on ready to murder Caligula and how at the end acknowledges that she was taking her anger for Nero out on Caligula instead (not to say Caligula doesn’t deserve it, but moreso that she realizes that instead of confronting her feelings for Nero, she pushed those feeling into killing Caligula) and I love how Meg is such a strong character, having to deal with going back to her childhood home and having to revisit those old, painful memories of a happier time in her life that was taken away from her, and how, in the final book, she confronts Nero and finally stands up for herself and as she says ‘defeats the Beast’. I just love Meg’s arc.
I love Apollo’s self sacrifice. He has always been a somewhat selfless character, willing to save others over him, but this truly defined his character, how he was willing to do anything to save his friends, and how he most likely would have succeeded had it not been the Arrow of Dodona. I also love how Meg calls him a hero and how his perspective of what defines a hero is being changed.
I love how Wah Wah has SUCH a hatred of Tip Toe Through The Tulips by Tiny Tim that he would rather tell Apollo and Piper where the shoes are than to bear through the music.
I also love how, to me, the kind of dark comedy of Caligula taking your very words LITERALLY!! It’s almost comical how a character vows something only for them to realize ‘oh shit’ as Caligula gleefully fulfills on that promise (like when Wah Wah would give his heart to Caligula or how he ordered for a poets tongue to be cut out and dipped in silver so that they could see his ‘silver tongue’) it’s just… Caligula is SUCH a good character!
I love how Aloe Vera is constantly fretting over anyone who has any injuries. I just like how Apollo wakes up sometimes covered in Aloe Vera’s healing slime.
I love the entire Macro’s Military Madness section. I love as Macro was talking about taking Apollo and killing the satyrs that Coach Hedge was struggling to open a pack of grenades. I love how Apollo landed in another dumpster again and how he peed himself and got himself some pink camo pants.
I love Coach Hedge, he’s such a funny character, especially when he was ready to fight the Automatons in Macro’s Military Madness and had to basically be dragged away.
The entire section of Apollo in molten chains as Medea tries to kill him is such an intense moment. It is such a dark scene, especially as Apollo is loosing himself, loosing his memories and how he is in pain and his skin is being described as being cracked open?! It’s such an intense scene and is one of my favorite moments in the book and one of my favorite moments in all of the Riordan-verse books.
I love the Meliai and how they say ‘HAIL TO THE MEG’ I just love how badass they are. I also love how after they kill Incitatus everyone is just staring at the Meliai with shock and horror.
There are so many other amazing scenes in the book! Honestly it’s one of my favorite books of all time. Honestly the TOA series is so good! I do admit that Apollo is sometimes annoying with how arrogant he is, but his character development is so good! I adore these books so much, so if anyone can recommend me any good fics PLEASE DO!!!

people are calling what happened today in gaza “the flour massacre”
the flour massacre
these people just wanted to get food for their families, something as basic as flour, one of the things that the very core of humanity is built on, and israel used it as a trap to murder them in cold blood
evil is not enough of a word. there is not a word to describe what they are doing to palestine. they are bleeding her out, they are torturing her and crushing her and hoping that nothing is left to remember her by when they are done. how can anyone stand and watch what is being done with indifference? how can you watch this level of human suffering, this crime against life and feel nothing, do nothing
