In this timeline, Sharon's last job was working as a marriage counselor. She felt it was ironic of her to give advice to couples when she herself has had poor luck in the love department. In the past, she had dated a doctor, a professor, and other such scholars. She even dated a Pulitzer prize winner. She thought she had to date someone who was just as educated as herself. But somehow, all her past relationships ended with her butting heads with the men she was dating.
But then came Ted. She was set up on a blind date with a football manager. It seemed like a practical joke at first. She and Ted came from different worlds. Sharon could see that Ted seemed nervous going on his first date since his divorce from his wife. She does her best to try not to psychoanalyze Ted while also trying to help him relax. Once Ted is comfortable enough, he makes her laugh with his folksy dad jokes. It felt refreshing that she was on a date with someone who wasn't trying to outwit her or brag about their accomplishments. Sharon is unsure how compatible they are in the long-term, but she'd love to explore where things can go with Ted.
