Kafka isn't the once strong kaiju he was anymore. His body has aged to the point where his powers can cause greater pain and problems that last longer than before.

He is still strong enough to help out but he can no longer be the strongest kaiju in history.

That title belongs to Kimiko now. She hates it and all the awful responsibility that comes with it. Despite the fame and money she earns, it's still a nightmare and it gets worse every day. Kafka feels guilty and shameful that his daughter has to be the strongest at only 15 years old. She wasn't even old enough to be enlisted. All this "Kaiju No.16" business is just a brand that the Defense Force milks because she is the new idol of today.

Kafka lets Kimiko be disrespectful to anyone and lets her yell and thrash until she's crying and cussing him out because he thinks he deserves it. Kafka has tried to regain his power, but he almost dies time and time again. Kimiko sees this and knows he's trying, but it's not enough.

Imagine Kafka started to feel less and less pain. Not because he’s losing his pain response, but because his kaiju skin is so durable and impenetrable, he can’t feel it when someone punches or kicks him.

I think this makes him feel inhuman even more than he already does.

But Soshiro comes to aid him with swordplay.

Mina comes in too with hot wax candles. It’s the best she can do rn.

I think Kimiko should speak in a kansai dialect.

Kuriko and Kaoru already speak pretty similarly to Soshiro but Kimiko is a surprise because she spends the least amount of time with Soshiro.

I don’t remember where the dialect is most used in Japan but it has to be where they live because it’s known accent that lets others know where you come from.

I have a hc for Jura.

Jura was a fat kid all her life and was made fun of for it but when she joined the Defense Force, she worked a lot to lose the weight and stay in tip top shape. Eventually, she lost a lot of weight but she wasn’t the skinny fit soldier most of the women were. She was still big but she put the work in and was left with a body she learned to be proud of. It wasn’t what she wanted, but it wasn’t something she was ashamed of.

Kaiju No.8 but instead of killing kaijus, or at least the numbered kaijus, the Defense Force turns them into little annoying pets that follow their selected users around.

No.1 is always predicting Narumi’s moves in games and makes better suggestions (that Narumi secretly uses but never admits it)

No.4 is zipping around Kikoru and recounts memories with Hikari as a way to cope for both of them.

No.6 is just a little ball of grumpy. But he follows Reno around because he’s the only one No.6 likes.

No.10 is constantly nipping at Hoshina’s ankles for a rematch and sometimes gets No.12 to join when they meet up.

No.15 is also very attached to Kikoru but for different reasons.

No.9 is just treated like a little brat who was put in timeout for almost destroying Japan.

(Imagine Kafka was this hulking beast surrounded by mini kaijus running around like toddlers. It’s that daycare anime but instead of human babies, it’s kaijus.)
