Apparently I’m very behind on updating tumblr with the shots I’ve been taking in Dragon Age: Inquisition. I used a bunch of different types of ReShade here in fact I’m pretty sure the shots near the top were taken with a much older version, while the more recent shots are after I updated to the current release.  I’m happy to provide a full mod list, but more information on the tools i use is available on my Flickr, as well as higher MP versions of these shots and I think it makes a difference.

I feel like I’ve gotten better with portraits, but I feel much less confident in pretty much every type of other shot. I’m never sure if I’m picking the right aspect ratio, how I should do my DoF, whether or not I’ve even got a decent frame to begin with, etc... I’m guessing that’s all normal though so I’ll just keep snapping pictures. 

I can provide a complete mod list as well as information on whose tools I’m using if anyone wants to know.

I had a really great day shooting Dragon Age: Inquisition yesterday. I think I’ve made a lot of progress with my shots since I started doing, which was about a year ago. I’ve really enjoyed coming back to DAI and reshooting things I’ve done before, or areas I’ve visited just to see how much I’ve improved.  These are a few of my favorites. A lot of these have alts and altogether there are 23 new DAI uploads on my Flickr. Better to see this stuff there because the versions posted on Tumblr have been downsampled to native resolutions, whereas the ones on Flickr are 5MP uploads. They look better, trust me.

I tried to some of these shots to sit side by side but it wasn’t happening. This is some recent stuff I’ve done in DAI. Portraits are my inquisitor, Solas, Leliana and Vivienne. I also included two extras of Leliana in the rookery and Vivienne in the Mire. Pretty sure Viv is getting ready to knife my inquisitor like “Darling, did you bring me to a swamp??” *shank* Better versions of these shots (5MP) are here on my Flickr.

I’m pretty sure this first one is my favorite of the bunch.

I also like this one a good amount because I used DoF on Lara.

I feel like her face kind of ruins the above shot.

I’m mostly certain I prefer this black and white color effect to the alt below.

I haven’t uploaded any gaming shots on here in awhile although I doubt anyone is losing sleep over it, hah! I’m fairly disappointed with how Shadow of the Tomb Raider looks because I’ve spent a lot of time in Horizon Zero Dawn lately, but I thought these captures were fairly decent. These shots are up on my Flickr although since I play this on PS4 I don’t know if the Flickr versions are any better because it was all captured at native resolution.

I took these shots during cutscenes in Mass Effect: Andromeda. Normally you can’t access them in Ansel, but thanks to Otis_Inf’s cheat table it’s possible. Depending on where the cutscene takes place DoF is sometimes not workable which is why some of these shots don’t have it. Higher MP versions are on my Flickr and they will probably look better than what I uploaded here.

I’ve been getting ready to shoot Mass Effect: Andromeda. I have everything modded and I just started playing around with ReShade and HattiWatti’s CT. I didn’t spend too long selecting shaders but I was fairly happy with how this looked. I love CT’s DoF effects, but this game is pretty hard on my system so I wasn’t able to capture more than an 8MP shot. The 5MP version of this can be found on my Flickr and it might look better. I may end up using Ansel more than I thought if I want to crank up my resolution, although I’d be sacrificing the lovely ReShade effects.

I’m so behind on updating my photo uploads. This is the most recent set I put up on my Flickr. Hopefully I will get off my lazy butt and update the rest. These shots are totally months old but at least I’m finally getting to my backlog.

I’ve started going through my backlog so here’s my top pick. I love how the first one looks even though it’s a cut scene shot which means I have no ability to move the camera at all. I enjoy how good Aloy’s expressions are. It’s not perfect, but a lot of them look pretty damn good and definitely better than the awkwardness of Dragon Age: Inquisition that I’m used to. Her reaction to Bast’s shitty attitude in the lodge is pretty much me whenever I read men menning, it’s so good.  This last one is a bummer. I went into the photo mode and immediately punked out and decided I didn’t want to take a picture. So I just snapped this super lazily, no framing, no effect work, nothing. Turns out I really like it, although i can see where I could improve it. I’m super bummed that I didn’t take the time to actually work on the shot.

Here’s some recent stuff I did in Rise of the Tomb Raider. I’ve never done so much stuff with ReShade on my own so I’m mostly happy with that work but I’m still learning.  The three alts are just three of my favorite LUTs in this session. 5MP versions are on my Flickr and will look much better when viewed at full size. Captured at 15 -20MP using SRWE; downsampled in FastStone; Hattiwatti’s Cinematic Tools used for freecam and FoV tweaks; Otis_Inf’s HUD toggle; ReShade 4.0 used for DoF, lighting, color, and other graphical tweaks.

I’m still trying to get the hang of using ReShade 4.0 and the in game UI. I kind of built a preset that I’m sort of happy with? I don’t really know what I”m doing but maybe I’ll figure it out eventually.  There were all captured at around 20MP and downsampled to 2MP to put on here. There are 5MP versions up on my Flickr that probably look nicer. I hotsampled this using SRWE then downsample in FastStone. I used Hattiwatti’s Cinematic Tools for the freecam and FoV features and the HUD toggle by Otis_Inf.  All tweaks were done in ReShade. Custom LUTs were used and can be found on the picture captions.
