Back…. Hurt……
Being queer online is so exhausting cus every time The Discourse pops up it’s just: “who do we hate this week?” It’s just rage bait. Literally nothing productive comes out of it but like clockwork it repeats next month.

“Arthur… this guys fucking chopped”
- John Doe, 2025
Fave johnisms from 58. I know these were all technically the King talking but like. That’s John to me, that was John fronting.
.
.
As a note, I do really love the first quote. It’s possibly my favorite quote from this episode, even more than all the delightful Jarthur interactions.
It is not a particularly emphasized moment or a very consequential one narratively, but it is important to John. It’s important that he knows not only was his decision his own, but that others can recognize and appreciate it even if they’re not 100% happy with the outcome. It is important to acknowledge you are a being with choices and to have them acknowledged in turn. Choices are fundamental to autonomy and to change we affect on the world—that said it is of course beneficial personally to have others validate your autonomy, but it is also beneficial communally to have accountability.
Anyway. It’s nice to see John experiencing all the many benefits of personal agency.

Mary Shelley could come back from the dead, write and direct an adaptation of Frankenstein herself, and people would still complain about it not being accurate to the book
screencap redraw but it’s John Doe
FRANKENSTEIN 2025 SPOILERS‼️
I’ve seen quite a few people complain about the line where William tells Victor that he’s the monster as being very on the nose (which, yeah, it is,) but I do feel there is some merit to it.
Victor at this point in the story refuses to admit fault to any and all consequence. Elizabeth dies from the wound she got from Victors gun, and he explicitly tells everyone else that the Creature attacked her. When William is dying, again, because of Victors actions, he tells Victor plainly that he is the problem. I’d say it’s especially important coming from William, who is the character which has been most charitable to Victor.
When William tells Victor he’s the monster, I don’t think that’s for the audience, I think that’s for Victor to hear and simmer with.
Thank you for your words of wisdom John🙂↕️
I just watched Guillermo Del Toros Frankenstein oh my godddddd
