yes this show is about shane hollander and ilya rozanov falling in love, but it's also about being queer in spaces that won't accept them. scott and kip were important to hollanov's story because they gave them courage to be with each other. this is why representation matters; it's why it's important to see other queer people, especially for hollanov. because despite it all, they are not alone. there are others like them!! and this is why troy and harris matter and why ryan and fabian matter. this show dedicated an episode to developing scott and kip, to portray other depictions of queer love and specifically showed how incredible it can be for one person to step up and be themselves, and how it inspires others. if you thought season 2 was just going to be 6 hours of hollanov fucking, i'm sorry to say that you missed an important part of the first season.
