It was a quiet but busy evening, with very little disturbances occurring throughout the room. Daniel had been sitting in his usual spot, drinking the bottle of rum he had bought from the bar. Money was no longer a problem, not that it had ever been in the past but it was something he didn’t pay much attention to anymore. He drank slowly as to not bother himself to crashing in front of other people, watching how others played. Some with their evil wits, sly looks and shady turns of the hands, yet others who played with honesty, fairness and truth. It was usually, not always, but mostly the truthful ones who won at the end of a long night. They would walk away with pockets full of chips, overflowing to the point they didn’t care if any spill. Charles was never that kind of man, he saved every single last penny until he was certain he had enough income to cover all eventualities. Nevertheless, it was getting late and he was starting to consider a slow meander home.
Just before his trail of thought could drift afar any further, a fairly young, slim woman entered the Casino. She looked a little lost, perhaps a place she shouldn’t be and it was at this moment, quite too often a moment, Charles decided it was time to whisk her away before danger entrapped her.
He stood up slowly as to not seek attention from others, it wasn’t a friendly place and you needed to know at least the place to pick a fight if need be. He stood for a moment and let his gaze rest upon her face, he waited to see what she would do next before making another move.
