"Normally, the guard-types here wanna make sure you actually know how to sing. I've got one request, or another," he puts up two fingers, his voice reverberating as the lightning around him charges. Teeth bared, his white outfit turns black, purple electricity crackling around him.
"Either, one: you can't sing well at all, just absolute crap, and I get to fight nearly full-powered beasties." The sun had set, and everything was getting worse, more dangerous, late night singers were fewer and further between.
"Or two, you'd better sing so well and so loud you bring every last monster in the ward here. You pick."
@allswell | Moonshade Part 2
"I hope you know how to sing, 'cause I'm more of a bouncer." He flips his dagger in his hand, the blue of the blade glowing in the light. He points at her Vision, clicking his his tongue, "And I know a Snehznayan Vision when I recognize one, so you should be a bit aware of what this means." He taps his mask, winking.
"Honestly, I'd almost prefer it if you were a terrible singer! So go ahead, live our your idol dreams, and I can get to some ass-kicking, yeah?"
@frosthera | Moonshade Part Two
Dying hardly bothers him. Being powerless only spurs him on. Escape was certainly something to consider, but he was concerned - rightfully so, it seemed - that he wasn't the only one left here.
Bulletwound weeping, he opens the door nearest him, seeing a familiar blonde head.
"Oh."
He can't help the surprise, audible, as he sees her. In a place like this, it hardly should surprise him that someone else was stuck, rather than choosing to wander the maze in search of other survivors. His selfishness can be helpful, then, when he puts his mask back, on, fox-like smile equipped as he flourishes his half-cape, hiding the blood on his shoulder.
"It's your lucky day!"
"Your knight has come to rescue you, princess!"
@madeupxmemory
Hearing about Freminet brought bittersweet feelings. Knowing he had been there and that Lyney had apparently arrived too late still bothered him. And the worst part was not knowing exactly where his siblings were, and whether they were safe or not. Trying not to show the turmoil in his mind, Lyney chose only to smile discreetly. "He really is. Freminet tends to surprise people once they get to know him, he's... Truly a gem" - Lyney said, twirling his teacup between his fingers, thoughtful for a moment.
"As for me… I've been here long enough to stop expecting things to make sense." His smile turns wry. "Every time I think I've figured this world out, it decides to pull another trick from its sleeve."
A theatrical sigh escaped his lips as he shifted his position in the chair, crossing his legs. "You're not the first one to talk to me about disappearing… Although you're definitely the person who talks most casually about a topic like that, I have to admit" - there was something about Tartaglia's nonchalance that Lyney definitely liked.
"But I have to say, the last time we met you caused quite a stir. If you're planning on doing the same here, let me know. I don't want anyone stealing my spotlight, you know" - even though the tone was teasing, there was some truth there. Lyney would much rather be involved in any of Tartaglia's crazy schemes than anything else.
"I guess it's a blend of things - not like there was anything I could do about it, and I'd rather me be stuck fighting something otherworldly than some others." That, and he already felt like he had punished himself enough by what he had lost by disappearing.
But more than anything, he would rather Lyney's siblings be here rather than himself. It was a complicated feeling - he felt like he was an older brother or weirdly young uncle to the ward of the House of the Hearth.
"I tend to keep a low profile here - well, compared to back home. Until recently, I hardly had any allies here - not really any Fatui, anyway. A lot of governmental officials from other countries in Teyvat, so..." He shrugs, "In any case, I do a little vigilante work for fun, and have a day job - or night job - at a fight club. I'm also thinking about joining up with that big tournament style thing, but I should prooobably get my Delusion back first, more flash and more substance."
He's rambling, but he wants to keep Lyney's mind busy with his antics.
;; need a guard? you've got the coolest guard around - here's a moonshade part 2 starter, looking for some singers of any level, the worse the better honestly so the enemies are tougher~ capping at 3
"Yeah, your little brother helped me out with a few missions. He's a good kid." He sips his tea, sitting across from one of the Knave's children. He can't help but be a bit relieved that some of the House of the Hearth kids have been out and about here. Although he's not sure if he's seen this one's twin - Lynette.
"You've been here a bit now, right?"
"How are you finding it? I've been here for a while now, one disappearance, but," he'd rather not talk about that, "Dunno if it was part of the whole, whale situation, but whatever."
@ishegayorfontanian
AND THERE AJAX GOES AGAIN, talking his ear off with a fervor that only a few could manage to match. not that he minds, accustomed to listening to things far more tedious in the wake of his job, with this more of a reprieve from something so tiresome. not to mention the more one talks, the more they reveal -- nothing that matters ultimately here, given their situation, but it was always within kaeya's mind to scan the contents of someone's word for something useful, whether it be to their blessing or detriment. still, he can't help but rest his chin upon the back of his hand, quirking a brow as an eye falls on his partner.
❝ Oh? You've thought quite a bit about this, haven't you? ❞ nor was kaeya truly opposed to fishing, recalling the time he had spent alongside the traveler and paimon on a little boat. how often has he been on boats for work? far too much, a far cry from a cruise for something more leisurely. ❝ It's not like I'm against it or anything. I've also heard some things about the Intraspace fulfilling a similar goal, but you're far more into the physical aspect of breaking away, ❞ he states, not so much of a question than it is an assessment.
besides, he felt he would rather see the world at hand than something in a simulation.
"Mm, I considered the Intraspace, looked at those packages, but there's way too much to do on this island to worry about that kind of thing. We can go to so many different beaches just here, we can go experience the snows and and then take a bus to a volcano." But this was... Simple enough. Not sightseeing, and not anything else.
And...
He presses his lips into a line. "Honestly?"
"Before it only felt like we had to worry about your coworkers, and it seems like times are changing." And his coworkers are far less kind, far more likely to cannibalize their own, and far less likely to ask questions.
"Sooo I was thinking, maybe let's get the hell out of here for a few days, and theeen we can worry about the number of Fatui Harbingers former-and-current coming here."
"So... this new fight club is fake as hell, right? It looks like reality TV."
"I wouldn't recommend it, I'm just saying that if you want to see a fight, there's places in Fibonacci Ward where you can can get an authentic look."
"Just 'cause you can't die, doesn't make it fake. Buuut, if you're looking for something a bit more visceral, the owner has a club, too."
"I work security there, but I get to get into some brawls, myself. It's called Skullrender." He chirps, and then adds, "Ooor we can fight here and now. Whatever puts a smile on your face."
"Whatcha up to?" He sits down by the kid, the Mistwood quiet this time of day. Seems like they're playing with something - maybe some snails. More than being interested in what they're doing, he's a bit more worried about them being in the woods this late into the evening.
"It's kiiinda creepy out here, huh?" He tilts his head back to look at the kid, a silly, spooky grin on his face. "Almost like the trees are coming to life, huh?"
"I'm guessing you live on the island. Ooor maybe you're a ghostie, too? Either way, I think we should be getting back. It's almost my bedtime, even!"
@charadrxxmxrr
"You're entering too? I can see it in your eyes, warden." Too excited to mull on whatever their shared past implied about now - and not too worried about the warden trying to punish him for a jailbreak when he had decidedly spent that time defending the warden's country (a bit of a side quest, he just wanted to fight), he's clearly pumped, jittery, even.
"My boyfriend says I can't get myself killed, but I think this place doesn't allow that anyway." The one thing that's missing, though is...
"Hm, have you thought of a battle persona? I don't really have one when I fight at the club, but here it might be more fun."
@cerberice

WITH EVERY TURN SHE MAKES, it almost feels like she's not quite left teyvat, let alone the fatui itself. the more she learns of this place, the more familiar faces pop up, such as the man who now lays upon the ground not too far from her. tartaglia, the newest harbinger to their rankings, though not one to be taken lightly despite such. after all, he was doused in a power that even the doctor did not wish to dabble in, lest it invites serious consequences.
still, she can only think of the times he had shown up to some of the tea parties that sandrone had hosted, following along capitano himself. and even though he had a knack for seeming trouble, well... she had yet to see it fully herself. so, she halts where he lays, leaning over to peek down at him with a curious expression.
❝ Did you fall down on the ice? ❞ or perhaps he was sprawled out after a rampaging duel, especially with those cuts on his face. from the little she has heard of him, she can come to see that outcome just a smidgen more. ❝ Or perhaps... you got your head beat in unceremoniously? ❞
@doublemasked
"I'm cooling my wounds off." He responds cheerily, although he can't quite suppress the chill that runs down his spine, independent of the snow, at seeing the Damselette in person. There was something not quite right about her, even in this place full of people who weren't quite right.
"I work at a fight club," he adds, for context, sitting up on his elbows in the snow.
"Nooot...entirely sure it'd be your scene, though." Or maybe it would - he found it almost impossible to get a read on her. Maybe she actually had more in common with him than he thought! Maybe...
Well, maybe she absolutely loathed him. He's really not entirely sure.
@doublemasked
⚙ "You've been here how long? They really didn't bring in the best and brightest first, did they? Or maybe they were saving the best for last?" It had already been about ten minutes since she'd first begun to speak to Tartaglia. Sandrone's opinion of him was so-so. She didn't know him well. He was like a chick that Capitano had dragged along to her tea parties without permission.
But far be it from her to tell him "no". She had to admit, he did bring a certain energy the couple of times he had attended. At least he never thought to challenge her to a battle.
"Obviously time doesn't work the same way here. I've met Columbina here even though she should still be gone, and now you're claiming to have been here forever when last I heard, you'd only brought news of the Tsaritsa's orders to Nod-Krai just days ago."
"I mean, if we're being honest, basically it seems like the Tsaritsa sent me ahead to scout everything out, like usual, because I'm one of her best-" read, most willing, "Warriors." He had wondered, briefly, if his perspective on the other Harbingers had been wrong, once he had learned that Arlecchino wasn't anywhere near the monster he had been told she was.
But, uh,
Maybe he had been right about Marionnette?
"I missed a liiittle bit of time, but there's pretty much been anything you could think of here. I sorta haven't written any kind of report, though." And, additionally, why were there more Harbingers here than ever?
"-So then I was thinking that it's getting warmer. and sometimes they send boats out. I have plenty of money saved up, and we can rent a boat and take it out sailing, I can fish for us, and then cook us some grilled fish for dinner-" he's going a mile a minute, everything planned right down to the cost.
"Sleep out on the boat under the stars. What do ya think?"
"It's not like we can really 'get away', but I was thinking this is the closest thing to it."
@khaenriahn
This is the second time she has been startled while drawing, Namine notes as she jolts at the sudden voice. She stares as the other, very agile, person drops from the branch and makes... droplets? Oh, he must know some magic.
The blonde Nobody still finds herself shyly blushing at the compliment. "Ah, well, thank you. You're really kind for saying that." She fidgets with her pencil a little.
"Do you mind if I draw you?"
"I don't mind at all. Do you need me to do some sort of pose? My sister used to ask me to pretend to be a hero or a prince." He strikes his most heroic pose, pushing his hair out of his face.
"Nnnooot that I'm a prince or anything. Or a hero! The opposite, mostly, actually. But I can be a decent actor sometimes - well, not really that either. You should go ahead and just tell me what you wanna draw!" He is sure to keep his expression animated and his voice light, wanting to encourage the girl in her endeavors.
