Hey, I'm Aus/Austin (he/him). I draw and write. This is gonna be a master post to keep track of the things I'm posting and the tags I'm using. I'll keep it pinned to my blog and will be periodically update it.

An intrepid apprentice, a spurned knight, and the crown princess are sent by the Queen of Hyrule to delve into the temples of old to retrieve ancient relics in an attempt to bring the kingdom out of the dark age in which it has been suffering. Things only get more difficult when a man claiming to be a Sage starts showing up.
So I've had these three sitting in my computer folders for a while, smh.
Characters for a currently-unnamed Zelda AU I've been playing around with in my free time. Basic premise is that a long time ago, due to some Ganon attacks, a bunch of Hyruleans flee into a giant mech that they live in for generations. It's powered by a sacred energy, but over time, the mech begins to break down. The original architects of the mech (seemingly) left no instructions for how to maintain it, so its inhabitants, fearing the outside world, try their best to repair it on their own. Inhabitable parts of the machine grow smaller and smaller, so people start building in, uh, odd places. Upside down, on the walls, basically anywhere they can! They have magic that lets them change gravity in certain areas. Meanwhile, monsters creep into the abandoned parts of the machine from the outside, feeding the machine-dwellers' fear.
Ideas for individual characters below...a lot of them are still super up in the air but. yeah
Zelda (Crystal) : Several generations ago, to keep the Machine powered, the royal family gave up a piece of the Triforce they had. This came with a slight caveat. Previously, the Heart Engine, the source of power for the Machine, was maintained by a group of skilled engineers delegated by the people as trustworthy, but the royal family wanted to make sure their piece of the Triforce was well-guarded, so over time, they gained complete control of the Heart Engine, putting shrine maidens in the place of the engineers, and keeping the engineers outside. Zelda was chosen shortly after her birth to be a shrine maiden.
Shrine maidens have a difficult job, and once they're officially in the Central Engine, they can't leave. Giving up everything they knew before is pretty rough, so future shrine maidens usually try and live as full of a life as they can before they make their journey into the Heart Engine.
Zelda...well, she's trying her best. She's tried to pick up every single hobby under the sun, devours books, and when she can, she explores dilapidated areas of the Machine, but she still isn't content. Everyone's happy to make friends with her, and she's friendly back, but she doesn't really connect with anyone, masking her true desires and the overwhelming fear she has of her fate.
Link (Sprocket): A commoner boy that wants to become an engineer someday. He lives in the crowded community of Left Leg, but recently took up a job apprenticing with an engineer. Now that monsters live in most parts of the Machine, it's a dangerous job. Link loves to explore, and really admires the work of the original builders. He'd do anything to learn more about them and uncover the mysteries of his home.
Tusk: A monster that somehow gained sentience after being exposed to a mysterious blue crystal. He's the leader of a group of bokoblins that inhabit the Bowels, a long-forgotten part of the Machine filled with dangers. Slowly, he began to gain an awareness of his own senses, and took control of his own body. Monsters have an organ that can "see" certain types of magic, allowing him to navigate the Machine much more easily than a human can, read strange old messages left behind, and uncover little pocket dimensions. Now that he's broken free, he's started to get dreams where a fairy tells him to seek out a hero.
Of course, not everyone's happy about his newfound sense of self.
So I tried sketching/drawing with markers only. Except a bit of gel pen to finish.
This is rough, just meant to be a design concept for Link from my original legend The Masked Rogue. Itās inspired by the musketeers, but in Hyrule, it would be said to look like the uniform of a legendary order of knights who sought to embody the 3 virtues, the Tri Guards.
Should probably make a post about this. Trail of the Galaxy is a new sci-fi OL I'm working on! Bit of a brainworm, figured we get a snippet on paper at least.
TotG will be releasing for a month before it goes in hiatus until other projects are caught up! Catch a glimpse before it returns for its full release!
Expanding Hyrule will be in the Clock Town Market at @linktober's Creator Con this year! We're very excited to get to participate in this event to talk more about Original Legends and what Expanding Hyrule does.
To facilitate that, @amelias-hart will be running an Original Legends workshop on their Youtube channel. This panel will go over who EH is, what Original Legends are, and a workshop on outlining your own Original Legends work, to include a community built outline you will all get to participate in.
We hope you'll attend the event to support our Zelda community, and connect with creators you hadn't found before!
So @doomed-era and I have a plan for some chaos this Cross-Legends. If you're not familiar with that, Cross-Legends is @expanding-hyrule's summer event. It's a four-week prompt challenge that requires two things: It's Original Legends and it's collaborative (you can read more here). So we're going to do some chaos for one of our entries.
The plan, Mad Libs on scale. 12 chapters written by up to 10 creators of Yes Anding through a micro-classic adventure. Assembled, the dream team: an original Link, Zelda, Impa, and Beedle have been tasked face Ganon and restore peace to Hyrule. How? Well, that's up to us to figure out.
And we're opening up the creative dream team to all of you! If you're interested in participating, you'll be asked to write one chapter in a week of a length you think is reasonable. Is it plotted? No! We're figuring it out as we go. It's gonna be wild, that's for sure. If you're interested, drop your name it this form for us to follow up. We're going to make picks based off collaborative style fits. If we don't have space, still looking forward to what you make for Cross-Legends!
MoaH is back on the 15th and so it's time to start some hype week! Let's see how everyone has leveled up since book 3 and headed into book 4!
Vash is our beloved book 2 companion. She's been up to plenty of training since we last saw her as she prepared and then ran the gauntlet. That's brought her, like everyone else up, to level 9! That gave her both another ASI and a feat for these super-boosted characters. Savage Attacker feels pretty fitting and her boost to CON has her of one of three characters to break into the 100s already on health!
The interest check is now open. If youād like to help the team get a better understanding of the scale of the zine, please take a few minutes to fill this out, and if you can, share it with some friends too!
Not gonna lie, I think I popped off a little with this one. I experimented with an airbrushed ink look in addition to the near-lineless approach Iāve been using for poster-style art, and Iām really pleased with the result! My shapes came out a lot cleaner and I had great fun adding in the details. Drawing the goofy little faces on the Tri fairies was my favorite :)
