“You want to know what the Captain really whispered to me that day? He told me that my true Iove was right in front of my eyes. And he was right.”
They ruled for 80 years. But no man can live forever, except he who possesses the heart of a star. And Yvaine had given hers to Tristan completely. When their children and grandchildren were grown, it was time to light the Babylon candle. And they still live happily ever after.
Stardust (2007), dir. Matthew Vaughn
grief is a bastard that hides in cupboards and jumps out when you least expect it. hello again, it says, you remember me, you do, god help you, you do, you do, you can’t even help it, you remember me when his laughter has gone but i can still strike you down with its absence and how the lack of sound echoes. the hole in your chest always did have the best acoustics.

※ JENNA MARBLES SENTENCE STARTERS, PT. XVI ※
Tessa doesn’t try to hide the laughter that tumbles from her lips ( sweet and joyous, a melodic honey ) as she stands in the doorway watching her husband. Jem ( her Jem, always her Jem ) had been adapting well to the modern world, but there were moments where his stubbornness got the better of him — moments where he insisted he didn’t need Tessa, or any of their friends to guide him along. Most of the time, he was right ; his intuition and intelligence carried him through, resulting in a moment of triumph.
Other times, well — what was the fun of a relationship if you couldn’t tease your significant other, at least a little?
“No, no. You’re doing great — keep going.”

@doubtstars // lyric one-liners
( 100 bad days - ajr )
“ A hundred bad days made a hundred good stories! ” Said with laughter, though it’s clear he’s seen those hundred days, and then some.
Emma tries to stay bright ; there is nothing in this world or another that can steal her light, her warmth, her optimism. So even when her heart aches, she puts on a smile. Echoes his laughter with her own, weight bouncing on her feet.
“I think my family would agree with that — they have a lot of stories they like to tell me.”
I am once again asking you to write with Emma

❝ hey, i’m from the house across the street. are your parents home ? ❞ tombo screeches to a halt on his bike to put a foot down on the road. in one arm is a pie his mother had instructed him to take down to their new neighbors. while he hadn’t had a hand in preparing their family’s housewarming gift, he can at least take some of the credit by delivering it.
he hops off the seat of his bicycle to walk it closer to chihiro. ❝ my mom sent me over with a pie for you guys. ❞
Moving, it turns out, is not as world ending as Chihiro had once thought. There’s been a change of heart that she can’t quite determine the cause of, a newfound strength that fills her every breath. A new start does not mean an ending, as long as your eyes are focussed on the future. She’s exploring the porch of her new house when he calls out to her — brown hues widening in surprise, hands pulling in towards her chest as he approaches.
“My parents? They went into town to get some groceries, but they’ll be back in a little bit. But, ah — I can take the pie inside.”
Hands reach out, offering to take the dessert off his hands before she blinks once more, another bout of surprise passing over her features.
“I’m Chihiro, by the way. It’s nice to meet you.”

This is the same girl– the same girl, in two nearly identical situations.
First being entering Yubaba’s, and the second being Zeniba’s.
Look at the resolve in her expression as she goes to Zeniba’s. She is so hardened by her time in the spirit world, so determined to help Haku as he’s helped her. She doesn’t even know if this will work, hell, the only information Chihiro has to go on is the fact that this woman almost killed the person she cares about most.
People in the spirit world don’t like humans. Chihiro knows this.
Yet she still travels, on her own ( arguably– although the others wouldn’t have been much help ) to a woman who she has only known to be malicious in an attempt to help the boy that has helped her so much. She has no way to protect herself should Zeniba strike her down where she stands, but she’s still determined to try.
She’s grown up so much, and these two scenes really show it. Although the outcomes are very different, the beginnings are still the same– Chihiro is traveling, on her own, to visit an extremely powerful and possibly malicious witch. But she’s hardened, by the time she goes to see Zeniba. She’s had to.
tl;dr – Chihiro’s growth throughout the movie makes me emotional.
@sherose !
“You let us escape,”
Emma doesn’t dwell — she would never be able to keep living if she did, forever weighted down by the sacrifices made in her survival, a dozen names which she’s burned into her memory and promised to never forget, but she cannot dwell. ( Isabella had been one of those names, for a point ). Lingering on the past brought too many unanswerable questions, too many what ifs that Emma knows far too well would lead to her unraveling. And yet, standing side by side with the woman who raised her, she can’t help but think back on their escape from Grace Field.
There were too many opportunities, too many variables, too much time where both Isabella and Emma were aware of the other’s truth ; the children had been one step ahead, but that didn’t account for everything. So she can’t help but ask — well, declare, more so. A statement of fact, waiting for a rebuttal.
“Didn’t you, Mom?”
