Part 2 of the Epilogue is up

Hi everyone!!! hope this finds everyone well. I did not succumb to the ao3 curse (yet), just to burn out. hope everyone enjoys the new post. It's been almost 422 days since the first chapter of Ebbin made its debut on Ao3 and I'm so thankful for the support. I may have the first chapter already rewritten, and am hopeful, that if academics don't overwhelm me, i can possibly start working more on the rewrite. If you've been here since day one, thank you. if you've just found me then welcome! and if you don't know how long you've been here, thank you for watching this concept come to life. (Hopefully i can get the last bit of Ebbin up before the summer) :)

OMG, tumblr on my phone wouldn't let me respond to this so I finally got logged in on my computer. Thank you so much for the support! I'll be completely transparent I'm dealing with a few things in my personal life, and I've just not found the motivation to write like I did last year. School has definitely tried to kill me so far, its failed but we'll see if I make it through finals. the Whumptober one shots will probably be... left to the wolves at the moment.... whoever put whumptober and midterms in the same month has a hate for college age fanfic writers. I don't even have the energy to write my personal home brew stuff that's been on the back burner since before Ebbin. Again, thank you so much and hopefully there will be some writing stuff soon once I get my mental health stuff figured out. :)

WIP, huh? Well, as it happens, I've recently just finished up my latest one! It was a piece for the @veryofficialtangotekfanzine , so unfortunately I cannot share it yet, but this does give me an excuse to talk about something else I've been working on. Thanks for the tag, @infernafiresword !

I wouldn't exactly call it a WIP ( as of now it has no words) but I've been making rough plans for a time travel AU set in the main timeline of @watcheraurora 's Ice Walls universe. The basic premise is that Tango, and maybe Gem, Pearl, and/or Jimmy (haven't decided yet) end up back in time in the 1980s and do their best to be parental/mentor figures to the young Stephen Carlisle, who would later change his last name to Violett, but he would be the most well-known as the powerful villain Impulse. He had a really crappy childhood with his abusive parents, but fortunately for him, there's a kind time traveler(s) who will do almost anything to help him, keep him safe, and make sure that he feels loved. Now, I'm absolutely positive that nothing will go wrong... right???...

Omg thank you!!! I totally have kinda hit burnout with work and my family. Deff forgot how taxing they could be lmao. I don’t want to say it’s done, I have a few days off of work coming up and I want to work on it. I want so badly to do the re right too, it’s not abandoned I swear I’m just taking a mental health break :)

With summer now being in full swing. (All all the crazy mess of moving back home for the summer, finding a summer job, and my younger brothers highschool graduation) I’ve been working on the epilogue I swear.

Current total word count rn is 101,689

Though Cinder over here thinks I’m not paying her enough attention

I love looking back at things... because then I find out that I had in fact calculated a bunch of stuff pertaining to knight school incorrectly.

this came about by reading a fic from the source material I got for the knight school stuff. So, I will unfortunately be working on the timeline again at some point. and probably messing with everyone's ages for the rewrite. (Its ok, we all mess up timelines XD even the author for the books I based the knight school off of has made mistakes with hers. I just hate math lmao)

This started as a shit post... and now I'm over 100,000 words deep... how did I get here.

I have been re-reading the race to ebbin.and I just wondered how exactly does the portals work, especially when gem was knocked out and all.

I based them off of Nether Portals. Rather than lighting it with a fire starter or flint and steel, the mages have to “light” it (and it doesn’t take you to another dimension). It takes a lot of magic to power one for a group, hence why Tango and Skizz are both used to power the portal and are exhausted afterwards.

Going through a portal removes all magic. In a sense it doesn’t let magic through just people and animals. That’s why when Gem goes through the portal with the kidnappers, her sole needs to be in her body. And it’s why Pearl wakes up when emerging in Merd with Ren and Etho.

There are several portal hubs around, the main ones are the ones featured in the story. There is also one on Belen but it takes such an insane amount of power to get there that it’s something reserved for emergencies.

What portal you come out of is dependent on the mage lighting the portal. So Tango and Skizz light the portal with the intent or focus on the Merd portal. Why Xornoth lights the same portal with the intent or focus on the Cidagor portal.

Hopefully that answers any questions? Let me know if it didn’t :)
