So, we all agree that Marinette is a creep, right? But can we also agree that Luca has no self respect whatsoever? He's 14 and says Marinette is his true love. I understand he's a teenager, but they only dated for a month, and he knowingly got with her knowing she liked someone else (Adrian). This makes me wonder.. does this dude have any sense of self respect or dignity? He's 14 years old, talking about true love when he hasn't even lived his life it would be nice if there's a fanfiction were they dive into this topic because we know the show won't ever touch this.
Rosalie had always thought about what Oscar said that day:
“If i were a man, i would be proud to be your husband.”
Why couldn’t Oscar be hers, as she is..? Since when did gender ever stop the solider? Rosalie shook her head, clearing her mind as she walks down the hallway of the Jarjayes manor. She carried oscar’s cleaned uniform in her arms, intent of bringing it to the woman.
She stopped outside the woman’s room, raising her hand to knock before she noticed it slightly cracked open. Out of pure curiosity, she pushed open the door, peaking into the room.
She was met with the sight of Oscar at her desk, her arms folded against the dark wood, her cheek resting against the white of her shirt sleeves. The desk sat in front of a grand window that caught the sunset beautifully. Though the beauty of the sunset was overlooked by the graceful and soft look that Oscar had while she was sleeping.
Her golden hair splayed against her back as arms, cascading down her arms and onto the table. Rosalie adored brushing her hair… Oscar wouldn’t let her often, claiming she could do it herself. But occasionally Oscar was tired or in need of some semblance of comfort, whether she knew it or not, and would let rosalie work with her hair.
The young woman sighed softly, shaking her head as she walks farther into the room. She gently placing the military jacket on the bed before her attention turns back to the military commander. Rosalie slowly walked over to her, making sure her heels didn’t make too much noise. She smiles faintly, her heart picking up as she looked down at her. Carefully picking up the woman’s hair, moving it out of her face.
She smiled faintly, gently running her fingers through the woman’s golden hair. She imagined countless times tell the woman everything she’d kept in her heart.
But instead, she lets her hands fall down softly, taking a gentle step back. Carefully quiet.

After Arriving at Claes Manor
Katarina is about to ask Lucy what event caused her to wake up, but the carriage has arrived at Claes manor. Lucy excitedly looks outside the window. The coachman knocks on the door. Katarina decides to stop talking for now and gets off the carriage with Lucy.
Lucy is amazed by the manor. Calling Katarina by her name, she asks her if it is her house. Katarina says yes, but is surprised Lucy knows her name. She wonders when she introduced herself. Lucy explains that the golden-eyed man called her "Katarina" when they met. Katarina indeed remembers Cezar calling her name at that time.
Katarina remembers Cezar being also here when Lucy took over Maria's body in the game. She wonders if Lucy and Cezar have some kind of connection.
Katarina asks Lucy if it was the first time she met Cezar. Lucy says yes. Katarina notes that Lucy and Cezar have never met before. She asks her if Cezar could see her. Lucy says no, he didn't seem to see her at all.
Lucy asks Katarina if Cezar is her lover or something. Katarina is flustered by the sudden question and quickly denies it: she was only curious about why Lucy appeared at that time.
Lucy is about to explain, but she and Katarina have arrived at the manor entrance. All the servants gather and tell Katarina, "Welcome home". Katarina replies, "I am back," like always.
Katarina quickly heads to her room. Lucy has been looking around with sparkling eyes ever since they entered the manor. Katarina doesn't speak with her since there are people around.
In Katarina's Room
When she arrives in her room, Katarina asks the servants to bring her tea and sweets.
Once alone in her room, Katarina tries to resume her conversation with Lucy, but Lucy is amazed by the manor's size and the furnishings.
The tea and sweets arrive.
Once alone in her room again, Katarina tells Lucy she can take over her body. Lucy asks her if it is really okay. Katarina is surprised that Lucy is acting shy now after forcibly taking over her body at the beginning.
Lucy explains that back then, she lost control of herself because she desperately wanted to eat something after a long time. But after talking with Katarina, she has realized that she is a good person and that she did something thoughtless. She apologizes to Katarina for what she did to her.
Katarina has changed her opinion of Lucy. She doesn't think she is such an outrageous familiar anymore. Lucy took over her body at first because she was feeling desperate after wandering alone without anyone noticing her, unable to eat food. Lucy is actually a proper and good girl.
Katarina praises Lucy for realizing she did something bad. It indeed troubled her when Lucy took control of her body at the beginning, but she doesn't mind her doing it when she gives her permission.
Lucy Eats Food
Katarina invites Lucy to eat to her heart's content. Lucy makes a delighted smile and thanks Katarina.
Katarina feels a wind blowing towards her like last time. She closes her eyes. She finds herself in the same situation as in the FL2 dream.
Lucy is now inside Katarina's body.
Lucy starts eating. She enjoys the food so much that even Katarina, who can't taste it, feels like the food is delicious. Lucy doesn't recognize many sweets, so she keeps asking Katarina what each of them is, and Katarina answers her. Lucy finds each sweet delicious.
Lucy eats up the food in the blink of an eye. She has a satisfied expression when she is finished. She thanks Katarina and returns her body.
Katarina feels the big wind again. She now sees Lucy in front of her.
Lucy tells Katarina that the food she ate after 500 years was so delicious. She thanks her again. Seeing Lucy's grateful and happy face, Katarina feels happy.
Katarina tells Lucy she is happy that she enjoyed the food to her heart's content.
Lucy tells her the food has become so splendid. In her time, people could only eat meat every once in a while, but now people can buy and eat it. It surprised her. She remembers the meat dishes looked so delicious.
Despite having just eaten sweets, Lucy is drooling over meat. Katarina chuckles and tells her she will let her eat meat, too. Lucy expectantly asks her if she really will. Katarina promises it. Lucy jumps up in joy.
Katarina looks at Lucy. She looks like such a cute child (even if she is 500 years old). Katarina can't help smiling.
Katarina continues talking about food with Lucy. Lucy tells her she is fine with not eating any more. But knowing she loves food, Katarina still promises to let her eat many things again.
What Caused Lucy to Wake Up
Katarina asks Lucy if she can ask her 2 questions that came up during their discussion on the way to the manor. Lucy accepts: she will tell her anything she likes since she is so nice to her.
First, Katarina asks Lucy about the event that caused her to wake up from her long sleep.
Katarina is curious about what great event could cause a familiar sleeping for 500 years to wake up. It must be related to the game.
Lucy first tells Katarina she has been sleeping for the whole 500 years. Katarina is surprised she didn't wake up even once. Lucy tells her that she would sometimes hear vague noises from outside, but they didn't bother her so much, so she kept sleeping.
But just a little while ago, she heard many screams and woke up. They probably were the screams of many animals. They sounded so painful that she couldn't ignore them. So she woke up and went outside. Then she wandered while searching for the source of the screams. She could locate the place, but when she went there, there wasn't anything anymore, so she didn't understand what had happened.
Katarina is stuck on the "screams of many animals" part. She asks Lucy what kind of place it was. Lucy tells her it was inside a dense forest. The air was stagnant in a part of it.
Katarina's inner ace detective has solved the mystery.
Katarina asks Lucy if it wasn't in Victoire.
Victoire is Cyrus's hometown, where Katarina went on a mission just recently.
Lucy doesn't know the name of the place. She has been out of touch with the world for so long, so she won't know anything except the buildings, the people, and the things below.
It makes sense to Katarina. Lucy couldn't talk to people, so of course, she doesn't know the name of the place.
Katarina decides to describe Victoire to Lucy with as many details as possible, like the fields and the buildings. Lucy tries hard to compare Katarina's description to her memories.
Katarina finally confirms that the screams Lucy heard were the ones made by the animals when they died during the incident in Victoire.
Lucy worriedly asks Katarina what happened at that time. Katarina wishes she could tell her that the animals died and that a dark familiar was made from them, but she can't since the Ministry keeps the case confidential. Katarina simply tells her that she doesn't need to worry because the incident was settled.
Lucy looks like she wants to talk more about it, but after seeing Katarina's apologetic face, she doesn't ask further questions.
Katarina can't believe it was the Victoire incident that caused Lucy to wake up. Considering both that incident and Lucy's arrival are game events, Katarina guesses the game scenario is still unfolding. But Lucy was supposed to take over Maria's body, not hers.
Lucy And the Ancient Magic Tool
Katarina thanks Lucy for telling her why she woke up. Now she would like to ask her another question.
Lucy guesses Katarina wants to know why she was there when they met. Katarina confirms. She replies that it was because she felt a nostalgic presence and chased it. Then she saw the golden-eyed man, felt nostalgic, moved near him, and then Katarina found her. Katarina is surprised. Lucy tells her she can still sense the presence at times, even now.
Lucy asks Katarina to wait while she sharpens her senses. Lucy closes her eyes. Katarina waits for several tens of seconds, then Lucy suddenly opens her eyes. She points at the pocket on the right side of Katarina's body.
Katarina remembers that the pocket mirror thingie, which is an ancient magic tool she obtained by chance, indeed felt hot just before Lucy appeared. She takes it out of her pocket. She shows it to Lucy. Lucy is wide-eyed.
Lucy recognizes the magic tool made by her master. She is so glad it is still here. She extends her hands and envelops it in them since she can't touch it in her spirit form. She smiles with a nostalgic expression.
Katarina is curious about Lucy's master. She suspected Lucy had one since she was a familiar, but she never mentioned it until now. It is the first time Lucy has mentioned them.
Katarina asks Lucy what has become of her master.
Lucy's happy expression turns into a clouded one. Katarina flusteredly tells her it is fine if she doesn't want to answer. Lucy is surprised. She shakes her head and tells her it is fine.
Lucy tells Katarina that her master died 500 years ago. That's why she feels a little lonely after recalling them. Lucy is downcast and looks lonely. Katarina doesn't know what to say.
Lucy tells Katarina that humans have limited lifespans, after all. Katarina internally agrees. She doesn't know about familiars, but humans can't live for several hundred years.
Lucy raises her face and looks at the magic tool in Katarina's hand. Katarina tells her she will give it to her since it is a memento of her master. Lucy asks her if it is really okay. Katarina readily confirms it since her master would prefer Lucy to have it rather than her.
Lucy thanks her with a happy smile and gently wraps the magic tool in her hands. She tells Katarina she will entrust the magic tool to her until she can touch it. Katarina accepts to keep it for her. She confidently tells Lucy to leave it to her. Lucy chuckles.
After that, Lucy asks Katarina many things. She is full of questions since many things have changed during her sleep. Katarina answers them as best as she can.
Is Lucy a Dark Familiar?
It is time for dinner. Katarina tells Lucy she will go have dinner with her family. She asks her if she wants to wait in her room. After all, she can't lend her her body, and it feels like it would be hard for her to look at her eating.
Lucy doesn't want to wait in her room since she can't touch things. She asks Katarina if she can let her rest in her shadow. Katarina is surprised by her suggestion. Lucy promises she will stay put and be a good girl. Katarina doesn't mind it, but there is already Pochi, her puppy familiar, inside her shadow.
Lucy remembers the cute puppy she saw. Katarina is surprised Lucy knows Pochi. Lucy tells her she greeted him when she went into her shadow at the beginning, so they're acquainted now. Katarina accepts without reservation in that case.
Lucy asks Katarina to notify her when she has finished her dinner. Then, she disappears, as if absorbed in Katarina's shadow. It is just like Pochi.
Katarin ponders about Lucy. She must be a dark familiar, considering she can go inside her shadow, manipulate people's bodies, and her master made a dark magic tool. Katarina has a bad image of dark familiars because the ones she knows, Pochi aside, are dragons that attacked her.
But Katarina doesn't think Lucy is like them. She may have only spent half a day with her, but she thinks Lucy is an honest and good girl. She also feels like Lucy's master, who created her, is not a bad person either. After all, she doesn't sense anything evil from the dark magic tool.
Besides, there is also that story in the literature Raphael investigated. It was written that dark magic was actually created to heal people. She feels like Lucy is also that kind of existence.
Katarina thinks Lucy would tell her if she asked her if she was a dark familiar, but she is hesitant when recalling the painful face she made when they talked about her master. It would probably hurt Lucy.
Katarina doesn't know what to do. She wonders if she should discuss the issue with everyone. But she feels like she shouldn't talk about it without Lucy's permission.
Katarina still hasn't figured out what to do, but she has arrived in the dining room. She greets her family as usual. She is brought delicious dishes. She feels she should fill her stomach before thinking about complicated things. She enjoys her dinner.
Katarina returns to her room. She sits on the sofa and sighs. She feels sleepy because her stomach is full. She remembers she needs to think about something, but she doesn't remember what it is.
Lucy and Pochi
Katarina remembers Lucy told her to call her when dinner was over. She calls Lucy. Lucy answers her call. Katarina's shadow warps and Lucy comes out.
Katarina is surprised that Lucy looks completely better. Lucy tells her she has run and played a lot with Pochi in her shadow. It is so wide inside.
Lucy adds that Pochi told her a lot about Katarina. Katarina is shocked that Lucy can talk with Pochi. Lucy tells her she can since they are both familiars. She adds that Pochi seems to like Katarina a lot.
Katarina feels so happy to hear that. She has been hated by dogs since her past life, and Pochi is the only one who doesn't. She knew Pochi didn't hate her, but she didn't know he loved her that much.
Lucy tells Katarina that Pochi was the one who asked her to play, but she had a lot of fun. He told her about his happiest times with Katarina. She was struck with happiness when she listened to them.
Katarina is surprised that Pochi feels like that. She thanks Lucy because she wouldn't have known without her. Lucy makes a bashful smile.
Lucy Asks to Borrow Katarina's Body During the Night
Katarina and Lucy have been talking for a long time, and it is now late.
Katarina needs to go to sleep since she is working tomorrow. She asks Lucy if she wants to sleep with her. Lucy replies that she is not sleepy because she feels too excited.
Lucy sees many books in Katarina's room. She asks her if she can borrow her body to read some books. Katarina looks at her bookshelf. It contains the etiquette books that her mother forced on her, romance novels, and many other books.
Katarina tells Lucy she is fine with it, but she wonders if she can borrow her body while she is asleep. Lucy tells her it won't be a problem since that's what she did at the beginning. Katarina remembers she was indeed unconscious when Lucy took over her body.
Katarina allows Lucy to borrow her body but asks her not to leave her room. Lucy promises her she won't.
Katarina goes to bed and falls soundly asleep because she is tired. She hears Lucy tell her goodnight in the distance.
Lucy Wakes Katarina Up
The next day, Katarina hears a voice trying to wake her up. Katarina is still sleepy. The voice tells her the sun has risen and she needs to go to work. Katarina tells "Anne" that it is too soon to wake up if the sun has just risen. The voice tells her she is not Anne but Lucy.
Katarina suddenly wakes up upon realizing it was Lucy who was speaking to her. She remembers getting acquainted with Lucy, a familiar from 500 years ago, yesterday. Right now, she is staying in her house.
Lucy tells Katarina good morning with a smile. She is floating in front of Katarina. Katarina sleepily tells her good morning. She expected she would realize upon waking up that it was all a dream, but it is undoubtedly reality. She rubs her eyes, still sleepy.
Lucy Loves Romance Novels
Lucy tells Katarina her books were so interesting. Katarina recalls Lucy telling her last night she would read books during the night instead of sleeping.
Lucy puts the books she loved the most on the table. Katarina is surprised to see they are all romance novels.
Katarina's bookshelf contains the etiquette books that her mother forced on her gave to her as a present, history books, and many other study books. The front covers of the romance novels are not so different from the others, but they have titles like "The Starry Maiden and the Sacred Prince's Love" and "The Princess and the Knight's Love Story". They don't sound like they would be useful for studying, so she didn't expect Lucy to pick them up and read them. As a familiar, Katarina expected Lucy would read books teaching about the world, like history books.
Lucy grins at Katarina. She tells her she didn't recognize many characters at first, but she used a dictionary nearby to learn them, and then she could read the books.
Katarina remembers that Lucy is from 500 years ago, and thus could only read ancient script. She finds her amazing for quickly learning to read using a dictionary.
Looking at Lucy's selection, Katarina can see they both have similar tastes. She picks up some romance novels from her bookshelf and recommends them to Lucy. She assures her she will love them if she has loved those other books.
Lucy asks Katarina with sparkling eyes if she can read them. Katarina remembers Lucy needs to borrow her body for that. She allows her since there is still a lot of time before she needs to go to work.
Lucy borrows Katarina's body. Katarina goes back to sleep.
…………..
Lucy excitedly tells Katarina in a loud voice that the books were so good. There weren't books like that before! The stories were so beautiful and romantic!
Katarina suddenly wakes up and realizes Lucy has already finished the books. Lucy has come out of her body before she knew it and is now pumping her fist in front of her with sparkling eyes. She seems to have devoured the books. Katarina is happy that Lucy loved the books she picked up for her.
Katarina's otaku passion burns up after finding a fellow, and she starts discussing the books passionately with Lucy. Lucy's just-awakened otaku passion also burns up. Their heated discussion goes on until Anne arrives to wake Katarina up.
Lucy Will Go With Katarina to the Ministry
Anne helps Katarina get dressed.
Once she is alone in her room, Katarina asks Lucy if she wants to wait for her at home or go with her to the Ministry. Lucy ponders a little and tells her she would feel lonely waiting alone, so she prefers to go with Katarina.
Katarina tells her she won't be able to talk with her during work. She asks her if it's still okay like this. Lucy is fine with that. She will just play with Pochi inside her shadow and explore the area.
Katarina is okay with Lucy accompanying her in that case. She warns Lucy that the Ministry is large and asks her not to get lost. Lucy poutingly tells her she won't get lost since she can clearly sense Katarina's presence. She will properly go back to her.
Katarina Ponders About Lucy in the Carriage
Katarina and Lucy get in the carriage and head to the Ministry. Like yesterday, Lucy is excitedly looking out the window.
Looking at her, Katarina remembers she was pondering about Lucy last night before dinner. Lucy is most likely a dark familiar. It would be great if their enjoyable days went on forever, but it will probably not be the case. Lucy's awakening after a long sleep is a game event, so there is no way that nothing will happen after that.
Katarina feels like she should talk about it with everyone, but she would like to get proper permission from Lucy first. She wouldn't have felt so considerate just after Lucy took over her body, but after talking with her for less than a day, she has come to consider her like a cute little sister. That's why she hesitates to talk about her without considering her will.
While looking at Lucy happily looking out the window, Katarina makes up her mind to have a proper talk with her once they're home.
Morning at the Ministry
In the Ministry, Lucy is freely spending her time wandering the area or looking at the details of Katarina's tasks with her from her side while nodding to herself. She acts so freely that when they're alone, Katarina tries to ask her to be more careful. But Lucy tells her there won't be any problem since no one can see her anyway. Katarina finds it so strange that no one sees Lucy while she can see her clearly.
Katarina Encounters Hector Delius
Katarina is so lost in her thoughts that she bumps into someone coming from her side. Katarina apologizes. A calm voice says it is fine. Katarina feels relieved and raises her face.
Katarina recognizes the person and can't help letting out "Geh!" It is the one person she feels uncomfortable with in the Ministry, even when some people in other departments look down on her department.
Katarina awkwardly greets Hector Delius. Delius pleasantly greets Katarina back. His eyes glint.
Hector Delius is the director of the Biomagic Research Department and is famous in the Ministry for being a weirdo. He loves experimenting on living creatures and always causes chaos in his department by bringing along weird plants or creatures. Because of him, the Biomagic Research department is the second-ranked department that newcomers don't want to join (the first-ranked is Katarina's department, the Magic Tool department).
Hector Delius invites Katarina to follow him to his lab, even if just for a bit.
Hector Delius always tries to invite Katarina over whenever she encounters him. He is an executive and one of the people who knows about her dark familiar Pochi. He can't help wanting to study Pochi and her, so he always tries to invite her over to bring her to his lab.
He is similar in that way to Larna, who loves magic power and magic, but Katarina is uncomfortable with the way he looks at her. Larna also invites her sometimes for her research, but she doesn't look at her like that. Her eyes are overflowing with curiosity, but also asking for her permission. On the other hand, Hector Delius's eyes send shivers down her spine. When she sees his eyes, she feels terrified, as if he would chop her up while pretending it was for his research.
Whenever she sees him, Katarina normally just walks past him so she won't have to get involved with him, but today, she wants to ask him something.
Katarina Asks Hector Delius About Familiars' Lifespans
Katarina asks Delius if familiars can live for hundreds of years after their masters have passed away.
Katarina recalls that Delius is strangely interested in Pochi because he is an otaku when it comes to living creatures. That's why she thinks he might be knowledgeable about familiars. She doesn't think Lucy was lying when she said she had slept for 500 years after her master died, but she doesn't know anything about familiars.
Delius is glad that Katarina is interested in familiars. His eyes glint, and he raises the rim of his glasses.
Delius explains that long ago, there were many familiars. They were created with their masters' magic power and kept alive by receiving magic power from them. So, if the master dies, the familiar won't be supplied with magic power anymore and will eventually disappear. In other words, the familiar shares the fate of its master. So based on their current knowledge, it would be impossible for a familiar to live 500 years after it lost its master.
Delius has passionately said this in one breath.
Katarina inadvertently repeats what Delius said: a familiar will disappear if its master dies. Delius excitedly confirms it. But he adds that this is just what is written in books. He doesn't know if it is the truth since he couldn't experiment on it personally. And that's why he would love for Katarina to let him study her and her dark familiar!
Delius has said this with dazzling eyes, so Katarina backs away. She hurriedly thanks him for the information and tells him she needs to go back to work.
Katarina runs away. Based on the way he looked at her, she feels like Delius would take her into his lab and never let her out. Delius asks her to wait, but some of his subordinates arrive, scold him for skipping work, and take him back to their department. Katarina feels relieved.
Katarina remembers that Delius said that familiars disappear after their masters die. It bothers her. Even if he is a weirdo, he wouldn't lie about this. Which means…
Sora Warns Katarina About Delius
Katarina sees Sora. They are delivering packages together, and he has been waiting for her.
Sora worriedly asks Katarina if she is okay. He has heard Delius's voice, so he wonders if she was about to get captured. Katarina shakes her head and tells him that Delius's subordinates came to bring him back, so it didn't go so far.
Sora asks Katarina to be careful. Delius might seem similar to Larna, but he's giving off a more dangerous feeling. Katarina asks him what he means by that. He explains that he sometimes feels like Delius doesn't look at people as people. Katarina feels exactly the same way: Delius's eyes send shivers down her spine. She tells Sora that Delius's eyes also make her uncomfortable and that she will be careful. Sora invites her to be extra careful.
Sora gives Katarina a little package and takes a big package. He suggests they go on with their deliveries. Katarina finds Sora so considerate. She gives him a cheerful reply and follows him. She will think about Delius's words later.
Katarina finishes the morning's physical tasks, then has lunch.
Lucy Has Finished Exploring the Ministry
It is now time for the covenant's deciphering work. Maria is off today (from what she heard from her coworkers), so Katarina will work on it alone today.
Katarina tries to fight sleepiness as she faces the Dark Covenant. She scolds herself after almost falling asleep.
Lucy arrives, smoothly passing through the wall in her spirit form. Katarina is not startled anymore since she has gotten used to it.
Katarina is alone in the room, so she tells Lucy, "Welcome back". She asks her if she has finished her exploration.
Lucy puffs up her cheeks. She is disappointed: the Ministry is huge, but there are many places she can't get into. She has mostly finished seeing all the places she can access.
Katarina is surprised that Lucy can't go anywhere. She thought she could in her spirit form.
Lucy explains that there are many places where she somehow feels like she doesn't want to go. She feels like a magic has been cast to make her feel this way.
Katarina didn't know such magic was cast in the Ministry of Magic. As expected of the top organization in the country.
Lucy tells Katarina she was thinking of resting in her shadow since she has finished exploring. It is comfortable in there. Katarina doesn't understand why it would, but she is glad to hear it.
Katarina Tells Lucy About Maria
Lucy flies to the chair next to Katarina and sits on it. She looks around the room.
Lucy asks Katarina if she usually works alone at that time, even though she worked with other people in the morning.
Katarina tells her she normally works with her friend from another department during that time, but she seems to be off today.
Lucy is surprised by Katarina mentioning a friend.
Katarina tells her that her friend's name is Maria and that she befriended her at the academy. She is cute, has good grades, is kind, and has powerful light magic. Lucy frowns upon hearing "strong light magic".
Katarina realizes that Lucy probably considers light magic as her natural enemy. She probably considers people with light magic as problematic. As for Maria, she would probably not mind her. After all, she is affectionate with Pochi, a dark familiar.
Katarina suddenly remembers that Lucy took over Maria's body in the game. Maria might also be able to see Lucy. If Maria had been here today, she might have noticed Lucy. She might also notice Lucy in the next days.
Katarina tells Lucy that her friend Maria might be able to see her. She can introduce Lucy to her if she wants to talk with someone else. She remembers Lucy saying sadly that no one can notice her.
Lucy ponders a little and shakes her head. She still isn't used to this world, so she wants to talk to only Katarina for now. Lucy has grabbed the edge of Katarina's clothes and has a downcast look. She looks like a lost child who feels anxious. Katarina decides she won't pursue the issue. Maybe light magic is making Lucy feel uneasy.
Katarina promises she won't talk to Lucy to anyone until she says it is okay. Lucy raises her face and gladly nods.
Katarina listens to Lucy happily telling her about her exploration. Before she knew it, work is over.
The Evening
Katarina tells Lucy that work is over. Lucy tells her she will rest in her shadow until she is home. She gets inside Katarina's shadow.
Katarina can see that her shadow has become Lucy's resting place, but she doesn't mind it so much. Lucy has really become like a cute little sister to her. Katarina was the youngest child in her past life and only had her dependable younger brother in this life, so she finds it great to have a little sister who relies on her.
Katarina goes back home. Lucy didn't come out of her shadow in the carriage or when she arrived home. Katarina is about to go to sleep, and Lucy still hasn't come out.
Katarina looks at her shadow and asks Lucy if there is a problem.
After a little while, her shadow warps, and Lucy comes out. Lucy tells her there is no problem. She was just feeling so comfortable in here that she fell asleep. Katarina tells her she was worried because she wasn't giving any reply. Lucy bashfully says, "Ehehe".
Katarina Asks Lucy If She is a Dark Familiar
Lucy asks Katarina if she can borrow her body to read books. Katarina replies she doesn't mind, but she would like to ask her something before that. Lucy is all ears and smiling.
Katarina is hesitant. If she asks Lucy this question, her smile will cloud. But if she doesn't ask her properly, it will impact her handling of anything that happens. She must ask her. Katarina steels her resolve.
Katarina (shyly): …Lucy. Are you by any chance a dark familiar?
Lucy's face clouds, as Katarina expected. She doesn't answer right away, and a silence fills the room.
After a while, Lucy finally speaks.
Lucy (sad tone): …So you have noticed.
Katarina: So I was right…
Lucy tightens her lips, then raises her face.
Lucy (desperately): I know people now call me "dark" and "evil"! I know that! But my master and I are not bad at all! Believe me!
Katarina is surprised by Lucy's desperate expression. She freezes.
Lucy makes a broken face. She seems on the brink of tears.
Lucy (trembling voice): …but you won't believe me even if I say this, right?
Katarina realizes Lucy might have misunderstood her.
Katarina (firmly staring at her): I believe you!
Lucy (wide-eyed): Eh?!
Katarina smiles at Lucy.
Katarina: I believe you. You and your master are not bad people.
Lucy (timidly): …You only met me yesterday, and I selfishly took over your body at the beginning… Will you really believe me?
Katarina: I was indeed surprised at first. I thought, "What an outrageous person!" But I don't feel like this anymore. I only met you yesterday, but you are like a cute and honest little sister to me. I can't think of my little sister as a bad person. And of course, it also applies to your master, who is like a parent to you.
Katarina could have also added that her little sister was a handful, but she keeps these words in her heart.
Lucy (moved to tears): …Katarina, you really are soft-hearted.
Katarina: Hmm~~I don't think so. I may look like this, but I have discerning eyes.
Katarina has proudly said this. Lucy chuckles.
Lucy tells Katarina that ever since she was called a dark familiar, no matter how she tells people she won't do bad things, no one believes her. No matter what she says, they only look at her with cold eyes.
Lucy seems to have painful memories from 500 years ago. Katarina doesn't understand the "ever since I was called a dark familiar" part.
Lucy continues. She thought that if people found out she was a dark familiar even in this era, the same thing would happen again.
Katarina now understands why Lucy was so shaken up and desperate earlier. But Katarina was indeed convinced that dark magic was evil until a little while ago. But then Nathan made her realize that "Looking at a part doesn't make it the truth". Then she talked about it with Raphael, and he told her about the dark magic literature, and she learned that dark magic was not necessarily evil. That's why she can readily believe Lucy. She wouldn't have known about it if she hadn't gone through this chain of events. Katarina has mixed feelings about this.
Lucy thanks Katarina for believing her. She is making such a happy smile.
Katarina puts a hand over Lucy's head and makes a headpat gesture. She can't give headpats to Lucy since she is in spirit form. Lucy looks happy as if she could feel the head pat. Katarina looks fondly at Lucy.
Lucy suddenly freezes and tries to tell Katarina something. But she keeps silent and frowns. She opens her mouth, but frowns and feels conflicted.
Katarina tells Lucy it is fine to only tell her when she can.
Katarina guesses Lucy was probably trying to tell her about a painful event that happened in the past. But she probably can't talk about it well because she still can't accept it. But Katarina is okay with waiting until Lucy can tell her. Things should be fine now that she knows that Lucy is not an evil dark familiar.
Lucy nods with a half-smiling and half-crying expression.
With that settled, Katarina cheerfully gives Lucy her book recommendations. She puts some books on the table, and Lucy happily looks at them.
After Katarina goes to sleep, Lucy takes over her body and reads all the books. Then, the next morning, they discuss the books.
Katarina's New Daily Life With Lucy
From the next day on, Lucy stays in Katarina's shadow during the workday and comes out once she is in the carriage back home. As a result, Katarina can focus on her work. Katarina stays wide-awake in the carriage because she is talking to Lucy. She also enjoys their otaku talk during the night and the early morning.
Several days have passed. Katarina has completely gotten used to her new daily life with Lucy, and Lucy has also adjusted to this era.
Then, one morning, Katarina wouldn't wake up, so Lucy manipulated her body to get dressed and get in the carriage. Lucy has become able to pretend to be Katarina sometimes. Lucy is so good at acting like her that no one has found out yet.
When Lucy takes her place, Katarina is just sleeping. Sometimes she is sound asleep, and other times she is dazed. She lacks sleep because of her otaku talk with Lucy during the night and early morning. But she can get some sleep thanks to Lucy acting as her.
Today is Katarina's first day off since she met Lucy. Since it is a special day, she told Lucy she would take her to a fun place and thus asked her where she wanted to go. Lucy told her she wanted to have a picnic in a field. So she decided to go on a picnic in a field a little far away.
After getting a boxed lunch from the Claes chief, Katarina and Lucy get on a carriage and head to the field.
What scenes of Hamefura have made you cringe the most??
Hello ,
Humm...it's quite a difficult question...
I would say everytime a character say something overly sweet unnecessarily like for example when Geordo told Catarina in LN6 at the party in the castle that "as long as his beloved is here he will never get tired" I couldn't help but gritting my teeth a bit. And also everytime Maria says "I love you lady Catarina" or "I want to stay by your side for as long as possible" (which happens at least once in each volumes) at first it didn't bother me much but now she says it so often that I find it very annoying. Or also when Marsha Castley in LN5 kept rambling about how much Geordo was her destined prince and perfect he was ect...
If I think about anything else I will let you know.
For me personally, there was a moment that made me pause the episode and go get some fresh air — it was in Season 1, Episode 7, when Katarina wanted to be helpful and used her magic to seal the crack. I mean… damn, that was such cringe. It was both funny and painfully pathetic at the same time 😭
