this is a sideblog to post my littler drawings and also talk about comics. i don't care about pro- or anti- shipping discourse because i'm an adult, but i don't fuck with incestuous/pedo ships and i do block to curate my space, please be warned.

i mostly talk about superboy (kon-el), daredevil, the titans/teen titans, batman & some of the robins, various x-men but specifically especially 90's x-force, and probably other stuff i'm forgetting right now. be advised, i am generally allergic to modern comics. what if every body was trans gender. step into this zone and play with me.

Roxy was always my favorite supporting character in Superboy’s series. Especially once they settled into a sibling relationship and she quit being part of his… creepy harem of adult romantic interests (…it was a different time? 1995 wasn’t THAT long ago….) But like.  I swear, out of everyone he’s interacted with in ANY era, she was the only one who seemed to genuinely like him for who he was without looking down on him as dumb.  I wish there was some hope of her coming back :(

My biggest advice for those who want to get into comics, is just DO it. Look up a character who interests you, and start reading any runs they're in. If you like batman, read Year 1, the Long Halloween. Just hop in. There's no right or wrong way to do it. You might be a little confused if you read volume 3 or 4 of a series, but it'll still be READABLE because the comic writers do a great job of leaving authors notes on some pages that include details on where to find the full story of information a character may have just dropped.

I also reccomend watching the dc animated stuff. They often directly base of comics, and give you an idea of some of the characters you might want to look into. Young Justice, Under the Red Hood, Son of Batman, My Adventures with Superman, etc. Those are all great to get into the storytelling style and vibe of characters.

If you're specifically curious about Batfamily (Batman, his robins/kids, etc) i recommend actually reading the Wayne Family Adventures comic on Webtoons, which has also been traditionally published, just to get a basic idea of who all the characters are and from there you can pick some to start with for reading actual canon backstories and lore.

And as always, if you want to know something, Google it. 65% of my time when I was first getting into DC was googling and reading through reddit threads. Never be ashamed for needing to look something up! There are tons of things I still don't know- you probably won't know everything and that's okay!

Always remember- superheros are supposed to be fun, and inspire you to consider your own morals and question authority.

i like fanworks where dick is closer with the batsiblings than he is in canon but like generally speaking he's really busy and self-isolating and they have to break into his apartment or call him for backup to see him. like in post-crisis canon. even timmy who is his little purse dog doesn't spend half as much time with dick as you'd expect. the titans barely see him unless they're backing each other up or are on a team together at the moment which is half of why they keep manically reforming the team every three years (so they can actually hang out). post-crisis dick is not the person keeping the bats together (that's tim) or scheduling family hangouts (that's not really any of them on any kind of regular basis) he's spending 18 hours a day minimum working and nightwinging and somehow squeezing even more time out of the day to fix his neighbor's water heater and do six other good deeds and then he's getting shot again
