Stuck between overemotional and emotionless at the same time
hey im sorry to bug you, but i just need some assurance that things will be okay. i've had issues with dpdr since i was a little kid (25 now) and it's so so so bad right now even with medication, and i feel really hopeless that things will get better. i can't get in to see a therapist rn, and i haven't left my house since june bc i can't get in a car. i'm hopeless rn and i just... want to know that the fight is gonna be worth it.
hiiiii !!!
everyone’s path of healing is different. and there is honestly only a few pieces of advice i can offer:
- try getting a therapist through video chat!! (i just recently start doing that and i’m loving it !)
- instead of focusing on the fact you don’t feel alive, just focus on living. like every little thing you do just focus on that and put yourself in the moment. it’s easier said than done but eventually if you keep doing that it’ll fade away
- stay hopeful. keep doing things that will benefit your future self. you’ll feel alive eventually but only if you really believe that and work for it. hang in there ❤️

HEYYY THE DPDR GUIDE TO SURVIVING QUARANTINE:
experiencing dpdr in a time like this can be extra miserable. here’s a little guide to help you!
1. Make sure to practice self care on yourself.
2. Keep yourself productive throughout the day.
3. Do laundry in the morning
4. Try yoga
5. Make yourself breakfast
6. Try out cooking your own meals. It doesn’t have to be anything too complex. You can make eggs, cook
7. Write out poems. They can be about anything and everything
8. Make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day
9. Read a book or comic book
10. Avoid watching Tv and / or playing video games for extended periods of time, this tends to cause zoning out and eventually dp/dr
11. It’s totally fine to take naps during the day but try to avoid doing them later into the evening
12. If you’re in school/college. Do a minimum 2-3 hours of studying/work (not to sound like a parent)
13. During the day, let the sunlight to your room. Draw your curtains or if it isn’t sunny, turn on lamps and lights in your room.
14. Call a friend or two and see how they’re doing
15. Light some incense
16. If you have any, cuddle your pets.
17. If you don’t, cuddle stuffed animals
18. Try solving a jigsaw puzzle
19. rearrange your room to a new look and redecorate.
20. Have some spicy food occasionally! Food that contains capsaicin has been proven to work as an endorphin. (I personally eat spicy shrimp ramen)
21: call/facetime/text friends and family. look at pictures. remind yourself that you are real and THEY are real!!
22: keep a normal routine
23: remember, just because you can’t see people, doesn’t mean they don’t exist. don’t dwell on it.
24: seek help. a friend, therapist, me, anyone. seek help if you need it and don’t be scared!
25: go to bed at a decent hour. (haha sounding like a parent again) we all know that the later you stay up the more time you have to sink into bad episodes of dpdr.. so to avoid that, go to bed earlier
26: one thing that goes along w that^ is i like to facetime or call someone RIGHT before bed. (usually by boyfriend) and then i go to bed as soon as they hang up. i’m filled with the fact that someone loves me and talks to me and exists, and it helps me sleep really well
27: don’t spend too much time on social media- especially tumblr. you are surrounded by the thoughts that are constantly in your head when you go into here. and while this is a helpful source, too much time on it leads to dwelling on your thoughts
28: audiobooks and podcasts really help tune out the "negative thoughts voice" :))
29: Painting your nails, even though some guys might not be up for it. Painting your nails can trick your brain into reminding you that the hands you’re looking at are yours.
anymore feel free to comment so i can add them!!

haven’t been on here in a long while.
i just want to say that if you don’t believe healing happens, it does. eventually.
it just takes hope.
with all of this covid-19 stuff, my heart breaks for everyone that experiences dpdr or dissociative symptoms.
if anyone needs someone to talk to, i’m here.
Hello!! I hope this is okay to put in ask.. I wanted a place where I could hangout with ppl who also have DPDR soo I made a DPDR discord.. I just made it soo there's not that many ppl on it.. I just wanna know if anyone would be interested?? I can message the invite
Hey yeah i’m glad tp share this for amyone interested :) this is a really good idea!!
you don’t have to be who you want to be right now.
you’ll get there.
and this applies to everything, mental health, regular health, life situations, everything.
don’t stress about this moment.
you’re only job at this moment is to keep working for yourself.
if you feel like your life and mind is crap rn, just work for the future
work for your future self
they will thank you so much for that.
don’t worry about right now, and don’t WORRY about the future, just do things that we benefit your future, and that you won’t regret!
you’re still learning a lot about yourself.
if you’re looking for hope
if you’re looking for a little bit of hope, scroll through my page.
read how miserable i was.
and then believe me when i tell you that i am doing amazing right now, better than ever.
i wish you could all feel like i do right now.
but you will get there i promise.
just please believe that you will be okay, cuz that’s the first steps. if you need the next steps, message me. i’ll help the best i can :)
Okay so I have talked about DID With with my psychiatrist and she said I do have dissociation but never said explicitly that I have DID or DRDP so that is a little thing to remember when I say what I am about to say. I feel like I have had dissociation/depersonalization episodes I guess you can call them, but I could never give you an example of when or what happened because I genuinely don’t know. Is it normal to feel that something happened but also have no recollection of it happening?
Yes, that is.
sorry, again for getting to this so so late. and for having basically no words with everything. but yeah, that’s a normal thing. also, i’m always here if you need to talk :)
I know a lot of people probably send you shit like this, but I've just found out I have depersonalization disorder and everything seems so clear, but twice as blurry at the same time. Like now everything that has happened kind of makes sense but I'm only getting worse, I just ... don't know what to do.
no idea how long ago this was so i’m so sorry. i’ve been off of here for awhile :((
i am not really much help rn, i not very good with words at the moment. but it will be worse and bad, but it won’t last forever. read my posts about how i recovered etc, and most of all just remember you will get better. you WILL be okay :) message me if you need anything. & that goes for everyone
i’ve been doing better lately
the only advice i can offer is to distract yourself, and not just sit and wallow in it.
stop focusing on the fact that you don’t feel alive, and just live.
the more you put yourself out there the more alive you begin to feel
get off of here.
you’ve discovered that there are other people like you, and people can relate to you and that’s great
but you know that now.
staying on this app will only force you to dwell in dpdr and you won’t get better
i promise. trust me. don’t stay on here :(
i’m back
hey i’ve been gone for quite a while. i’ve been doing pretty good lately
then i redownloaded tumblr and scrolled through my posts
and i .. m i s s dpdr.
holy crap this is such a weird feeling.
a million people can tell you “it’ll all be okay” but the moment you start speaking to yourself that way, and truly mean it, is the most comforting thing ever.
