It had been nearly a week since Dan's encounter with the young villain, and seeing her had effected her more than he'd admit. It reminded him so much of his own early childhood in The League - because it was literally similar, but because the use of a child to fight they didn't understand.
He tried to pretend it didn't bother him for a couple of days, and then he started looking into her. When he found who her father was? He's gone to him, it wasn't as if a prison could stop a ghost - and meta dampeners didn't dampen ecto powers.
The conversation he had with him was enlightening. The girl wasn't meant to be living this life, he had planned for her to live in normal life if he ended up locked away, but someone with less than great intentions and gotten hold of her. Now they seemed to be using her desire to get back to him to manipulate her into doing what they wanted, and that pissed Dan off.
And so here he stood in front of both her and her current keeper, eyes flashing a less than human green red as he eyed the other person before turning his gaze to address the child. “I spoke to your father.”
The beings later called the Ancients were not created by the Infinite Realm, they were sent.
When Pariah Darhk corrupted his control of the realm, the Infinite Realm reacted the only way it could - by calling outward. It could not fight. It could not sever it's ties to him without help. It could only be felt. That call was answered by the Endless. Each envoy was chosen not to conquer, but to observe, destabilize, and endure.
Together, they entered the Infinite Realms to weaken Pariah’s control and determine whether the realm could ever be ruled without repeating the same tyranny.
The Seven
Misery, Envoy of Despair (Achlys)
Misery listened where others would have judged, she moved through the realm helping its inhabitants name their suffering without offering false hope. She was the first to understand that the Infinite Realm was not meant to be a place of despair but that Pariah Darhk was forcing it to become one.
Desiree, Hand of Desire
Sent alongside Misery, Desiree granted small, honest wishes to those who sought survival rather than power. After Pariah’s defeat, she remained behind, severing direct ties to Desire and becoming a self-directed force of want within the realm.
Clockwork, Envoy of Destiny
A witness before a guardian. Clockwork cataloged fractures in time, sealed distortions Pariah exploited, and mapped the realm’s resistance to inevitability. When the Infinite Realm reclaimed itself, it reshaped him. Less prophecy and more time itself, giving him a dulled version of the awareness that it gave it's first child, Time, and binding him permanently to its continuity.
Undergrowth, Envoy of Death
Young and furious when he was sent, Undergrowth felt the suppression of growth within a realm that housed death without honoring the life that souls had eve after they passed on. His rage fueled reclamation, roots breaking through what Pariah tried to keep barren. Life persisted because he refused to let it be erased.
Nocturn, Envoy of Dream
Crafted specifically for this mission, Nocturn existed between dream and nightmare. Shaped by the suffering he witnessed in the realm’s dreams, he became a warden of rest by ensuring sleep could heal instead of harm during the conflict.
Vortex, Envoy of Destruction
Loud, visible, and impossible to ignore. Vortex encouraged action where fear had frozen people into stillness. He was the first envoy Pariah Darhk noticed, drawing attention so resistance could spread and stagnation could not hold.
Amorpho, Envoy of Delirium
The least obvious and the most dangerous. Amorpho disrupted certainty itself, strengthening unlikely outcomes and eroding Pariah’s predictive control. By the time he was noticed, probability had already turned against tyranny.
Together they did not rule as a council, but they acted in unison - at least for a time. They destabilized, observed, and endured. When Pariah Darhk fell, the Infinite Realms claimed them - not as new rulers but as anchors. Proof that the realm could exist without being dominated.
Danny Fenton was not an accident, the realm could sens that he had been born as part of both the living and the dead. Marked by the Lazarus Pits left behind when Pariah Darhk was sealed away, the fermenting ectoplasm there allowing his life to truly exist.
Danny’s encounters with the Ancients after gaining his powers weren't random chance. They were tests.
The Infinite Realms reacted to Danny long before he understood why, from the moment of his accident in that portal. It recognized him as someone capable of shaping it. Possibly ruling it. The Ancients noticed that pull, and so they watched him. Some challenged him. Some helped him. Some withheld answers.
Each interaction measured restraint and empathy, and whether he would listen to the realm rather than force it to obey. They needed to know if history would repeat itself. It didn’t, thanks to Clockworks intervention.
In the latest chapter I had Dan used the phrase "same start different ending" a couple of times when explaining to Damien and Tim that up to a certain point him and Danny lived the same life until their timelines diverged, and I don't know who this is going to happen with yet. But at some point he's going to say it to someone and they're going to tell him something along the lines of "what ending? You're both still alive" and that's going to fuck with Dan so hard that I cannot articulate it at the moment because I don't have the goddamn brain power because it's 3:40 in the morning.
Dan did not hold back and he elbowed his target hard enough to knock them to the ground, before standing straight and turning back to look at the person they'd been trying to rob. He gave them a quick once over as he spoke, checking to make sure they looked at least relatively unharmed. “Sorry, got a little carried away. Are you alright?”
Dani hears that Kol-El means "abomination in the House of El" in Kryptonian and just outright starts trying to fight Superman anytime she sees him. It gets real entertaining when she learns that Clark is Superman, then she insist on going to every gala and at the third one when Clark is there Bruce realizes why because she spends the entire night accidentally spilling drinks all over him.
When she finds out that it was Kara who gave him the name, she continues to constantly try to beat the shit out of Superman well also doing the same to Supergirl. She has taken to calling Supergirl "Enemy Number One" and Superman "Enemy Number Two". CLONE SOLIDARITY BABY.
Imagine you just saw the Justice League save the world on national television, and then as Superman is addressing the press he just gets body slammed by this pipsqueak
It actually noticeably effects him, mostly because he wasn't expecting it, and she screams "CLONE SOLIDARITY BABY" and then sticks her tongue out at him well flipping him off and fly's away.
Batman is off to the side watching with a blank face but inside he's just beaming with pride because he's wanted to slap Clark about the way he treated Connor for awhile.
Tbh my writing has changed so much since I started this series I'm considering redoing the Danny and the Dani parts after I finish Dan and Vlad's. Vlad's kind of starts near the end of the Danny and Dani fics and is going to bleed into Dan's timeline and story wise and I'm also planning on rewriting that first chapter of his fic since I only have the one done so far and writing them simultaneously. I've already started rewriting the first chapter.
