Spiti Valley, Himachal Pradesh Another journey - to fulfill a promise this time. Apart from the sheer serenity of Spiti, the primary reason to visit again this year was the promise I made in my last trip to the postmaster of world's highest post office which is situated in Hikkim Village - to get him the post cards, free of cost, of the pics I had taken and raise funds through the sale of the cards at the post office to support the education and development of children in the village. The post master buys post cards from Kaza and resell in the post office to the traveler. Looking at the traveler count to Spiti and then those whose go to Hikkim and actually send a post card, these 1,000 post cards should last for 3 years. If you happens to visit Hikkim, do take out a moment and write a post card to your loved ones. "Expression is the language of emotions. Fight challenges not point of views, fight weakness not the weaker you, fight the hate not the love in you. Adapt, to be a better you." Of all my collection of pics from 2017, these selected 2 are my personal favorites as they truly speak volumes. The range of expression and emotions these shots convey is simply priceless - as seen solo and when seen together. One was taken at Asha Deep Foundation (Orphanage and School in Ghaziabad, Delhi NCR) during the Children's Fashion Show where a Muslim mother dressed her daughter in a white gown to be tomorrow's movie star. While, the other shot (at Dhemul Village, Spiti Valley) of grandmother and granddaughter depicts their passion for life and more in solitude. With over 800 kms separating these two shots, feminism and undying zeal to dream for the next generation and self - unite them as one, like many other unheard or unspoken stories. Let your dream to be real and true, breathe hope into those dying deep in you, as much as it's me - it's still quite you. Enroute to Chandrataal, Spiti Valley - there’s the food joint at Batal run by two wonderful souls - Chacha and Chachi (as they loved to be called).

Apart from the simple yet scrumptious food, one being foodie would really appreciate, it's the hospitality that does the magic. Despite the age, they are full of love and welcome everyone with their amazing smile making the trip a memorable one.

If you happen to visit there, do take out time to chat with them.
