*Holli sees the vengfly trap has caught something...it was @dr-awooo*
Oh hello my knight, may you be so pleasent to aid me?
[They look away from some sort of log they had been reading, head swiveling towards the sound made, and just... stare.
Nary even a blink. Uncomprehending. A bit dumbfounded.
Then understanding abruptly clicks into place all at once. Ah. The trap. They had forgotten that they set it in place. Holly carefully approaches the trapped flea. The trap. It serves its purpose of capturing things. But imprecisely. Maybe impractically so depending on how stuck the flea is exactly...
Gently, they tug on the flea and try not to get caught up in the softness of the fluff. It's a test. A test of their own willpower and a test to see just how stuck the flea is without incurring harm.]
/ I will try. Does this hurt you any...? /
*The flea whinces professionably.*
Ah yes this is a pain most untolerable of my kind. But the taste of liberty is one that I could not forego since there are still many patients that needed to be treated. Perchance.
[The wincing doesn't go unnoticed and with it comes a pang of regret for the discomfort caused. They let go immediately and start contemplating the best path forward.
They can't yank the flea free. Not without hurting them.
The trap. The sticking. It's too strong. And thusly...
...likely too strong to use for the vengeflies after all. Even if they intend to kill the vengeflies for consumption by the Tearless city's bugs... they would rather not impart undue suffering upon the creatures this way.
So then. The next best option, if a bit crude, would be...]
/ I can cut you free then.
By nail. By spell. Either will suffice.
But in doing this, your fluff will receive a most unsightly "hair cut".
To you, is your liberty worth this cost...? /
Oh the liberty of soul and body is such a cost worthy! None shall be trapped without the freedom that fuels us all!
[They nod. A glint of their nail and their false arm of metal as it grips at the flea anew while the other holds their weapon poised. They pull upon them anew, but this time only for enough space to form; space enough for cutting through the fluff safely.]
/ Understood. Give me a moment.
You shall soon taste freedom anew. And maybe... if you wish it, I may even attempt at fixing your fluff afterwards.
More cutting. So that it... aligns with everything else. /
[The nail comes down in one blinding and precise motion. Pale metal cutting through the fluff with relative ease, bits of smaller fluff kicking up in the air as the flea is separated from the sticky trap.]
*The doctor flea falls from the glue trap on the knight. As they make contact, the knight feels something. The fluff. It was not brittle nor too fluffy. It was perfect. The sign of doctor awooo's fluffiness doctorate. The flea than began to fly again.*
Oh thank you, knight of hallownest. What shall I do to tank you? Perchance?
[It takes a fair amount of restraint not to push a hand into the ever alluring and appealing fluff. To simply stand there instead, the flea overtop their head, and allow for the flea to gather their bearings.
Idly, they wonder if this is how bugs feel about Wyrms. How they feel when enthralled by that sort of... something had...
They shake their head at the questioning. Silent refusal.]
/ No action of gratitude is necessary.
The blame is mine to bear in the first place. /
[They catch sight of the uneven fluff now. Their grip around their greatnail tightens a bit.]
/ But perhaps I may fix your fluff...? Or do you rather... like it this way? /
No thanks, it may grow back again!
[A nod pressed forth. Silent indication of understanding.
They put their nail away, gleaming Pale metal sheathed, and deftly reach into their cloak to pull out an unwound green ribbon. It's something they had received from their first written correspondence with Great Knight Isma.
They dangle it before the flea. An offering.]
/ I will not cut your fluff any further then.
Can I instead offer something for your troubles?
When tied properly, these can be quite appealing. I can even attempt at tying it into your fluff for you. /
That would be most satisfactory if tied to my fur!
[At that, they draw up closer. Some more staring commences, gaze shifting between a few potential areas, before they elect some fluff to the side-top of the flea’s head and neatly tie in the ribbon. The bow that results is perfect, polished, as though practiced many times over prior.]
/ There. I hope that it is to your satisfaction. /
Thank you! I shall awooo in satisfaction. Perchance.
AWOOOOOOOOOOOO
[Loud as the cry is… echo as it does… there’s a barely contained sense of endearment felt to it. Hands briefly squeeze together for a moment.
Is this what others mean when they… “squee” over something…? The feeling that invokes it so?]
/ Good is it that your accessory pleases you so. /
[They turn to the trap, seem to contemplate… something before grabbing it and crushing it in on itself without touching any of the sticky parts.
They have no use for a trap like this.
Maybe rather it’s better to just encourage nesting by vengeflies? This way, they can just be within easier range for hunting?
They will have to see.]
/ The trap has been destroyed.
You need not concern yourself with its likes any further. I apologize that this outcome resulted at all.
Have you a need for assistance in getting to your intended destination? /
Nonono, I do not need assistence. I will now go.
*The flea flies away*

*The doctor flaps their wings and struggle against the glue in a very pathetic display of incompentence.*
