The King simply waits patiently for the woman to catch up with him on the ground for a moment or two. “Excuses, excuses.” He simply said in slight signs of amusement. “There’s a mountain view that you can see this kingdom from. The Dragon has been spotted over there.”
“Yeah, yeah. Keep making accusations like that and everyone might mistake us for a couple.”
She waves a clawed hand dismissively before gazing out at the mountain thoughtfully. It’ll be a tough climb but sometimes even royalty has just gotta do it.
“are you a top or a bottom?” i’m a threat
@drachendive
THE LAST THING BALTHIER WANTED TO ENCOUNTER on this rather difficult job was a warrior dragoon with a gargantuan spear . Here he was , kidding himself that this job was going to be a simple one , yet the not-so-fortunate encounter of a marlboro , along with the leg injuries he’d sustained from a previous fall , had made this mission rather tedious . He was slightly limping , but mostly from pain and not too sustainable of an injury . However , with a fighter who employed the style of jumping and leaping through the skies , the last thing he wanted as a drawback was decreased mobility . ❝ IF YOU’RE NOT planning on impaling me with that spear , how about we forget we ever saw each other here ~ ? ❞
Ugh, these Archadian boys just don’t know when to let up.
She’s already in a bad mood when he stumbles upon her, lance up in a steaightforward kind of get outta my way type of ordeal until she notices he’s injured and damn near limping to boot. He’s not as much of a threat to her if he can’t walk but Aranea works on facts and the shine of coin rather than smooth words and he’s the charmer type if she’s ever seen it. Hardly convinced but that Airship back there belongs to someone and it wasn’t hers, so...
That leaves the imperial goonies who definitely couldn’t pilot a good set of wings if it soared right over them and his appearance is strikingly familiar to the wanted posters she’s seen tacked up all over the nearest bar. Charming.
She might shoulder her spear but that doesn’t mean she’s gonna show her face just yet, eyes gleaming curiously behind the protective guard of her lowered helm guard.
“How about you give me a reason to forget I ever saw you here, pretty boy. Deal?”
throw me to the wolves and I will return leading THE PACK.
Made this one to test shit out in Unreal so it’s real time (+ some minor editing in photoshop)

SETTING DOWN THE WEAPON, he places both knuckles on his hips, elbows pointed away from himself in thought. Idly swaying in place, he nods adding in, “I suppose I don’t have much of a choice, do I?” His tone is CATTY and amicable. “I tend to avoid most cities unless I have to spend long in them. I do hope your method of travel is gentle; vehicles and I don’t get along TOO well.” Sliske taps the space between the prongs on his chin, “Never have enjoyed my center of gravity being out of my control. I tend to use an ah — alternative way of getting around.”
He’d been in a car, once or twice, and knees JAMMED to the chest is such an ache on would like to avoid. “Nevertheless, I would love to. I take you up on this proposition. – I do very much delight in also getting out and seeing some of the less trodden paths. Never know what else we might find to help you with your Empire issues. Honestly, with no offense, too much machinery and I’ve had enough time with dictator-y empires in my own personal lifetime, bleh!”
So maybe he’s kind of impressive. Her boys probably don’t think he’s that big of a deal given they’re the immovably inclined towards her all female dominance kind but they’ve given him a definite glance or two. Nothing definite - not yet. She’s gotta take him out into the field and give him some real work to do. Lucky for him there’s another good mark that’s been more aggressively prowling just outside the skirts of their camp area lately. Aggressively stupid.
Usually she’d take care of the little wyrm problem herself but seeing how dark, robed and chin stroking mysterious over here wants a shot at her kill in exchange for a few materials maybe she’s feeling generous. Maybe it’s just his lucky day. Here’s to hoping Aranea won’t regret it, that’s for damn sure. She’s bracing a hand to her hip and unhelpfully grinning in mention to the Empire all the while.
“Not friends? Good. That makes me a little more fond of you. Just a little. Whenever you’re ready we can head out.”
@drachendive [ aranea + fang : aranea’s mercenary camp ]
“I’m looking for work.” The strange woman oozes confidence from every pore and follicle—and its probably why Aranea’s men let her into her tent without so much as a warning. She slams her hand down on Aranea’s desk so hard papers scatter. The stranger does not apologize. Nor will she. Aranea’s men look between each other, starting to think maybe it was a bad idea to escort her in here instead of escorting her out of their campsite.
“I hear you’re a mercenary. I’m a hunter. Officer ranking. But the work’s not always so steady–and I need to put food on the table. I hear you treat your company well and pay them fairly. You’re a good leader with a good head on ya shoulders. Good onya. That’s the kind of boss I want. I’m strong, fast, good with my hands, willing to do anything to get the kill and get the job done. Something tells me that’s the kind of company you wanna keep.”
Her accent is thick—she’s clearly foreign, as is her manner of dress. She doesn’t appear to be Lucian or Nif. Stranger and stranger.
“So let’s talk brass tax. What do I have to do to get the job?”
Looking for work, huh? Well aren’t they all.
Aranea isn’t exactly sold at first glance considering most of the idiots who decidedly wander into her camp aren’t exactly up to a professional hunter’s snuff. This one’s definitely not ashamed to put herself out there though and it beats points for trying but she’s not about to let this wild mannered woman off for beating up on her boys without warning.
Arms fold and she merely cocks a silver brow at the display. From hunter to hunter this might have been easy but as far as Aranea knows she’s still an outsider even if the sources she’s quoting got everything right. The faintest hint of a smile catches against the corners of glossed lips and she nods towards the fallen parchments almost expectantly.
“You heard right. If you wanna join I’m afraid your first assignment is picking up those papers and filling everything out between the lines. Keeps everything running here secure. Do that and then you’ll get a price.”

Boy, oh boy—
His blue gaze followed each of her steps until it searched for her from behind. He bit down on his lower lip almost as if feeling her presence at his back. Closer and now above his shoulder he could hear her voice. His heart was fluttering
Prompto cleared his throat, finding it a tad difficult to speak but eventually managed to muster something. “You know— I’m wearing them right now.” He retorted, going with the flow and the wordplay. “Do you have a preference where you’d want me to take you?” Of course, the lady was the one to choose. It was his offer after all. This way he could learn her taste as well.
Preferences aside she’s impressed. He’s trying, really really trying. Not so many boys out there had a good head on their shoulders as they were abrasive and Blondie here fronts a run for her money when he isn’t drunk or drowning his ass in self sorrow.
She taps a shoulder before harmlessly flicking at an ear and guiding him towards bustling marketplace.
“C’mon. Guess I’ll be nice enough not to drain your Gil. There’s a cafe nearby.”
whatever doesn’t kill me …
BETTER START RUNNING.

There was amusement that continued to remain on his features towards the woman for the current time being. “The gentleman thing would be to let the beautiful woman go first - but if you insist.” He simply teleported himself down and was looking up. Waiting for her to catch up.
The ‘gentleman’ thing. Hah, right. Since when was his impractical all powerful highness a gentleman? Not the guy she will always envision sleeping on his throne, that’s for damn sure. He amuses her well enough though, so well she follows his lead with the scenic route of course. A few hearty skips here, a well rounded jump there and she’s finally joining him at the bottom.
“A girl’s gotta stretch you know. Bad for the complexion otherwise. So.. where’s this dragon of yours been mostly sighted anyway?”
I drew my Queen.

As Aranea pushed his gun, he dismissed it and lowered his hand down. He wore a sheepish grin on his face, definitely aware of what he’d just said. On the regular, he would be too embarrassed to play around like that but there were also times he was confident enough to blurt such things boldly.
The pat to his face, the fact that she was just inches away from him sent a shiver down his spine. It felt good at least and he didn’t question it. What she told him however made him wonder whether this was reality and if he was hearing right.
“Of… of course! I can take you out for dinner, if you’d like. Just let me know when you’re available.”
Jeez, someone’s cheeky.
If she didn’t know any better she’d say he was throwing a real offer out there. Aranea circles him with only the brief click of her heels giving the calculated sway of all movement away and she’s finally pausing behind him to lean over a shoulder.”
“I’m available now. So if you’ve got your big boy pants on then I might accept your offer.”
GIVE UP ?
hate to break it to you, but…
THAT ISN’T IN MY VOCABULARY !
“Need some help with that?”
Bet your ass she can. Aranea’s been at it damn near all day by now and still can’t figure out where the wires are crossed beneath armored plates half dented into each other. If that Cockatrice hadn’t smashed into them on their way back they’d have made it to Lestallum back now and she’d be simmering in the all warming comforts of a much needed bath, but...
Well, here she is. Ex commodore Aranea Highwind nearly knee deep in whatever grime that nasty overgrown feather face rubbed all over her airship and got all gunked up in it’s exhaust entrails leaving her frustrated and beyond flustered at this point. She sighs, head bowed for a moment as if it’ll help process the anger that’s been bubbling away since her entire crew had been forced into landing just near the rear of Hammerhead and more than half her boys were busy eating it up at the diner instead of helping her fix this mess.
She still smiles despite her list of mechanical woes. The world will always have it harder and at least here she’s got a beautiful golden haired workshop doll to appreciate. The view isn’t bad at all and if there’s one thing she can appreciate it’s natural born talent. She nods towards the rear of exposed airship inner workings before stepping back with hands braced to her hips.
“Guess it just goes to show never leave boys to do real work. Two gals are better than one. Help me fix her up and I’ll treat you to dinner. Sound good?”
