I'm not even mad about last nights game.

If you had told me last year, or even a few months ago, that they would be the champions of the Atlantic Division and make it to the playoffs, I never would have believed it.

But they did it.

They put up a fierce fight against an even team. It was such a close series with so many good moments. They really gave the Habs a run for their money. But in the end it didn't go in our team's favour. But honestly I think that series was a good way to go out. They didn't get swept or dominated. They lost against an even team.

The skill that the Sabres showed this season isn't going to evaporate, and the team is going to be a force to be reckoned with for the next little while. After so many years of disappointment, the '26 Sabres have reenergized the fanbase, earned the team respect, and made us all proud to call ourselves Sabres fans again.

They didn't get it this year, but I think we'll have our cup soon.

I will also add that, as much as I believed in our team this year, I don't think they would have won the cup this year if they beat Montreal last night.

The Canes would be a tough battle on a good day. Now they've had over a week of rest, and the Habs are coming in from a death battle of a series. The Habs are going to struggle, just as the Sabres would have struggled.

And even if they beat Carolina, Colorado would likely be waiting for them in the final. Which is a whole other story.

So I would prefer a game 7 OT loss over a possible sweep by the Canes.

With a bit more experience and team building, the Sabres will be ready for the Stanley Cup Final. But not this year.
