Fun fact, the 9 to 5 was something that workers FOUGHT FOR because before the standard was literally "yeah you work 12+ hours 6 days a week in the death factory that kills you".

A very famous slogan among union organizers and such was "8 hours of work 8 of rest, 8 to do as we please". If you look into it this is also why certain sleep scientists are so insistent that 8 hours is enough sleep, because that's the amount most 9 to 5 workers get.

The problem is 8 hours of constant work is still way too much for the human body and it slowly hollows you out from the inside. You can often work more if the work is fulfilling and you aren't alienated from the products of your labor, but in a modern industrialized society that is almost never the case and working much more than 8 regularly will still shred your mind.

Workers fought for the 9-5, we can fight for the 11-3.

honestly it kinda fucks me up how i really cant think of another series as utterly authentic as mother. completely unafraid of being genuine and heartfelt, using humor as a balance to its heaviest moments rather than a distraction from them, encouraging uou every step of the way, never trying to downplay its heart in any way… even at its most cynical, never giving up on the world, or on you, the player. There’s no evil route, there’s no particularly cruel dialogue choices, the honest moments are always given their time to shine and while the humor can be zany, its a separate matter to lighten things up in those points in-between that don’t have anything to say, without ever taking away from them or thinking they need to step in to keep things from being too cheesy

the games tackle so many themes, some funny, some pleasant, some horrific, some heartbreaking… and through all of it, every game makes it clear that the most important force, the one that saves the world every time, is love. they don’t even have spell that out, its just the point.

mother is love, the belief in love, the future love can bring, and it never once feels ashamed of it. and its just kinda beautiful to me. i dont know a lot of games ive played that hold that kind of hope so proudly

"making them afraid will make them more racist" that's wild to me, because we live in a whole culture of social consequences for antiracism anyway. It is literally safer to be a racist than it is to speak up against it, socially.

Idk about you, but "I'm afraid no one will want to be my friend if I'm a white supremacist" seems like a pretty logical thought process to have, and I wish THAT were the normal and not "I'm afraid my friends will hate me if I tell them they made racist jokes".
