While waiting for the inbox to fill with requests (We still have 2 slots available, see the guidelines here.) The Lorekeeper made a short drabble for our boy Zeno. Very soft, a pretty cheesy fluff.

Zeno hated seeing his reflection in the mirror, hated the very thought that his face is a reminder of everything's he's not. It angered him, irritated him, but worst of all left a sinking feeling that maybe, just maybe, his worth wasn't what he thought it was. It conflicted with the memories within him, his ideology that he was a god among men, that no one could oppose him and his rule.

But if that was so, why did he feel the need to prove himself? To feel like he's worth more?

Yet, all those thoughts wash away when he melts under your touch. The face he loathes, you hold with reverence, thumbs caressing his cheeks. You don't see the man everyone expects him to be, the copy that was created in Wesker's image. No, you see Zeno, you see your husband for who he is, and gods how you adore this man. With every kiss, every embrace, every time your warmth seeped into his, he felt complete. And for a moment, he doesn't feel like he needs to prove himself to the world.

Why should he? He has the world right by his side. And he will always be perfect in your eyes.

Hello! Can I request an Albert Wesker x Reader? Just some good old fashioned fluff inspired by RE4R. I was thinking he's staying up late for work and grand plans, and us, his wife, bring him tea and stays with him, sitting closeby. We just listen as he tells us about the plan of Ada taking the amber, and we jokingly get jealous (You don't have to add that if you don't want to) We try staying up but fall asleep first and he carries us to bed, and then he joins us.

Summary: After not hearing a lot from your husband, who was isolating himself in his home office, you decide to bring him some snacks and tea. That's where he gives out little information about his next mission.

Note: This only took one and a half days to write! Writing this made me realize why I'm an absolute sucker for RE4R Wesker and how fun it is to write for him. If my requests are open again some day please please please request for him! Sadly I haven't played RE1 or CV yet so the other versions would be fun to write for. Before anyone says anything, I'm aware that canon Wesker is nowhere near as the one I depicted in this fic. That's why it a fanfic!

Black tea leaves with some honey, just the way he liked it. You knew how Albert fancied his tea. He always tried to be so serious, but you knew he had a slight sweet tooth.

Your hands organize the tray with a small strawberry shortcake in a way that looks aesthetically pleasing, a proud smile on your face.

After doing what you always did– making sure your husband had what he wished for but didn't want to say out loud– you found yourself in front of Albert's office. Classical music was muffled behind the huge door. There was never a time where there was no violin or piano playing behind it.

Before entering you always knocked, but with the heavy tray it was rather difficult to do so. So all you did was use your elbow to open the door, taking a deep breath beforehand. You loved your husband. He was always busy or if he was with you rather distant, but sometimes there were these moments when his facade cracked just a bit to let you see his soft side.

“Bertiiiieee?”

Albert's head immediately snapped up, his hidden eyes behind his sunglasses softening just for a fraction of a second.

“Stop calling me that, you know I hate it.”

But the way his muscles softened just a bit made it obvious that the opposite was true.

His frown deepened as you set down the tray that looked like perfection. The cake was a soft shade of pink (just the way he preferred it without even telling you), the tea that was blacker than his shades to not make anyone think that he liked the color pink (spoiler? He does).

But one thing he secretly loved even more? The small sandwiches cut into kitty shapes. Embarrassing but cute.

“Seriously?”

“What? I wanted to use the cut out forms again for once!”

Albert lets out a heavy sigh, two fingers massaging his forehead. He then pushes his arms against the table to sit up properly, taking his gloves off that were probably contaminated with whatever he was working on.

“What're you working on?”

“Classified.”

You roll your eyes, setting the cup and snacks down so you could carry the tray under your arm.

“Your work wasn't classified anymore the moment you married me, darling.”

The tray clanks against the table as you set it down again to wrap your arms around him from behind, rubbing your cheek against his. He tries to pry you off, but with you he wasn't as rough with others.

Albert hated physical touch and you were lucky to have stolen his heart enough to be allowed to cuddle him. He was more of a quality time or gift giving type of guy.

You get off of him after a good minute and walk over to his record player which was blasting Bach.

“You really don't wanna talk?”

Silence.

“I don't mind talking about my day!”

“Oh trust me, I know.”

One of your eyebrows shoots up at his words, which could mean multiple things at once.

“Are you saying I'm..?”

“Talkative? Energetic? Slightly annoying at times? Yes. Yes I am."

Other women would be offended,but all you do is huff and plop down onto the couch Albert kept around. He wouldn't ever confess that he only had put it there for whenever you decided to intrude into his workspace.

“Is it that Ada girl again?”

“How do you know that?”

His muscles tense at that name, turning in his chair to look at you. Very rarely was there a time where he was vulnerable enough to give out information about his work. Albert cared for you, but he didn't even trust himself most of the time.

“I heard you on the phone before. You called that woman Ada, did you not?”

“Pathetic. Are you.. what do you call it..jealous?”

You scrunch your nose at the word ‘jealous’, your hands fisting into the pillow that you had put on your lap until your knuckles turned white.

“Jealous? Me? Hell no! I'm just.. asking.”

Albert's expression just reflected the words ‘are you sure about that?’ without letting anything fall from his lips. His sunglasses were perched on the bridge of his nose just enough to make him look over them. Cold and calculated just like his every being.

He turns back around with a sigh, pushing one of the snacks into his mouth. The only thing betraying him was the hum that left him. Albert Wesker rarely gives anyone kudos on anything that wasn't made by him, but you, his wife, knew when he liked something.

“Good?”

Albert hums again, stuffing another kitty into his mouth. When you come up behind him to hug him again,he melts into your touch instead of trying to rip you off of him again.

“With extra salt on the butter again.. just how you like it.”

“Thank you, dear heart.”

Your hands gently play with strands of his pale blond hair, which weren't sleeked back with his expensive gel. Even if you weren't sniffing at him on purpose like a puppy, you could smell his perfume that made you go crazy for him.

"Try some cake.”

You pick up the small fork with a pink handle, cutting off a small piece and directing it to his mouth, hoping he'd open up. When he does you stuff his mouth full with strawberry shortcake, smiling at the way he was chewing.

You wait for his reaction, grinning even more at his satisfied huff.

“Do you really don't wanna talk about the upcoming mission,” you murmur under your breath, testing the waters. “Or do you plan to make me wait? Again.”

Albert side eyes you, which you catch with an amused expression on your own face.

After nearly three years married, five years dating and knowing each other for about fifteen years, you knew which cues and moods he usually had.

“Fine.”

His arm wraps around your waist, pushing you back. He wanted you to sit back on the couch.

When you do you rest your elbows on your lap and your face in your hands, but not before putting your favorite pillow on your thighs.

“Ada works for me.”

Beat of silence to wait for your reaction, but there is nothing for him to wait for.

“She's been working for me for quite some time. Currently I want her to retrieve something for me. That's why I told you I have to go back on a business trip to make sure she does her job.”

You ponder for a moment, watching his face as if I could read his every thought behind those shades.

“Why wouldn't she do her job?” you ask.

“Because she's known to not always keep her promises. She's more mysterious than anyone I've ever known. No one even knows if Ada is her real name.”

Albert turns back to his snacks, eating the cake slowly to enjoy every bite of it.

You lay the pillow on the couch, resting your head down while one arm lays under the soft fabric. Even if Albert was a very distant man you couldn't help admiring him like he was the most affectionate husband ever. You always look at him whenever you think he doesn't notice, but if only you knew that he did.

Your eyes started to grow heavier as you watched the man you loved eat the small snack you made for him. Besides physical affection you loved gift giving and just making food for him. Such a weird contrast to your past. When you met him as an intern at Umbrella when you both were young adults.

A small smile forms on your features and softens the moment your breath evens into deep slumber.

Albert continues to munch on his last crumbs of food, only turning around when he notices you not yapping and mentally present anymore.

He slowly gets up, trying to keep quiet to not wake you up. With light steps he walks over to you, hesitantly brushing his fingers over the strands of hair that fell over your peaceful expression.

You mumble something under your breath, turning your face to nuzzle into his hand that wasn't covered with his usual glove.

After deciding mentally that he'd carry you to bed, which you had to yourself most of the time since your husband barely slept, Albert adjusted your head on his shoulder, eyes studying your face. Probably another excuse just to look at you.

A few steps out the office made you wake up just enough to watch Albert quietly. Once again admiring him.

“Albert..?”

“Sleep.”

Albert adjusts your arms to be more securely around his neck, his own under your back and legs. It was just like when he carried you to your bed when you were freshly married. Something he did voluntarily.

After slipping in and out of consciousness in your husband's arms, you gain back your senses when you feel the softness of your bed under you. Your eyes open to see Albert pulling your blanket over you, clearly not noticing that you were awake again.

Your cheeks heaten up as he presses his criminally soft lips to your temple. The fragrance of his perfume, which you had gotten him for his birthday (that he never celebrated on his own), tickling your nose just right.

When he tries to walk away, you hesitate but at last take his hand to stop him.

“Can’t you stay?”

Albert's silhouette turns slightly to look back at you without turning his head to fully meet your eyes. Surprisingly he sits back down at the edge of your side of the bed. The last time he had shared one with you was a few weeks ago when you begged for him to sleep, so basically both sides were yours.

“I have work.”

“You always do..”

He sighs, rubbing over your knuckles. This wasn't supposed to feel like this. He shouldn't love you. Albert Wesker shouldn't love anyone.

“Maybe later.”

“Bertie..”

This aching in his heart grew and he had to restrain himself from jumping into bed with you. He gives you another kiss to your hands before getting up, not once turning around.

Now it was your heart's turn to ache. Not the good kind.

It was half past three when Albert decided to join you.

He sits down at his side of the bed, taking off his tie to let it dangle loosely off his shoulders. His fingers take off his shades to massage the bridge of his nose, brain still thinking of multiple possibilities this mission could either go wrong or overwhelmingly right.

After a while Albert falls back on where his pillow was supposed to be, but his head only hits the mattress, making him grumble out quiet curses. When turning to look for the pillow he sees you clutching it to yourself, cuddling it.

A faint smile tugs at his lips, so small that it was barely anything. Albert takes the pillow out of your hands and when he tries to keep distance you cuddle into his arm, face buried into his shoulder.

He should pull away. He should pull away and hurt you, hurt you enough to scar you. Why couldn't he?

Albert's hand slowly moves to the back of your head, the other on your waist. He couldn't help playing with your hair, circling it around his index finger. The shampoo he had bought you a few weeks ago smelled just as good as he thought it would.

With his teeth he pulls off his gloves, throwing them on the nightstand. A plop made it obvious that one or both had fallen down, but he could care less.

Albert Wesker for once.. felt something close to happiness.

The mission worried him more than he wanted. What if something would happen?

Whatever. Now he just wanted to lay here with the one person he cared for more than his plans.

“If I could sail a boat, I'd cruise across the seas, A sweet adventure for us two.” In a place like the Grand Line, and the lives these men lead, the life they share with you isn’t the safest or the most ideal. But if they were allowed to dream, this is the life he wishes you both could live.

"Black Leg" Sanji

There was never a dull moment being on the Thousand Sunny, that much was true. Facing gods and monsters, pirates and marines, you both knew well the dangers of being Straw Hat Pirates. But once the journey was over, Sanji knew he could finally have his dream with you. A ship of his own, part restaurant and part home, situated by the All Blue. A grand restaurant on the waters, able to serve all sorts of dishes utilizing the fishes caught in the miraculous sea. Your living space would be above the restaurant, with enough room for the family you’ll have, no matter if they were adopted or natural. He could picture it now, he often does: His bright-eyed children rushing down the steps to greet him in the kitchen, followed after by their beautiful mother. Oh to see the day he could have that with you, how he wishes it was close at hand.

"Fire Fist" Portgas D. Ace

Ace’s dream life with you isn’t too far from how it is now. You’re both capable members of the Whitebeard Pirates, in fact, you’re his right hand lady in the second division. The others often teased you as the power couple of the ship, and even Whitebeard joined along, asking when he’d have grandsons. While having his family onboard and sailing with them didn’t sound so bad, Ace had a different vision for his dream. He was in no rush to have kids, but when he does, he’d like to retire as a pirate. You would both be done helping Whitebeard become Pirate King, and would set off on your own adventures, travelling to the islands you’d only heard of. And in the end, retire on a small peaceful island, raising his kids and being a wonderful father, contratry to his own.

"Flame Emperor" Sabo

Sabo never intended to become a revolutionary, but his circumstances in life weren’t ideal either. Yet he never regrets the day he met you, being paired up with him for missions when you were both still rookies in the ranks. Someday, he’d like to leave the Revolutionary Army and sail on a boat of his own, with you as his first crew mate. Though you both have encountered many sights and sounds from various islands, he wanted it to be an adventure for once, not just a given mission. He’s content having you by his side, but he wouldn’t mind having a family one day. Until then, he’d have to continue fighting alongside, striving for the day peace reigns and those dreams could come true.

"Hawk-eye" Dracule Mihawk

You had known Mihawk for the longest time, even before he was offered the role of a Warlord. Though you originally lived away, you had moved to Kuraigana with him, when Mihawk had sense there would be a huge shift in the world, proven right with the Paramount War. And even still, things changed with the abolishment of the Warlords System, which led to you both being in the Cross Guild. Were he able to have his way, he’d still be in Kuraigana with you, living peacefully in your shared home. He would be able to provide for you, protect you, care for you in every way he could, and you both could live without much worry in the world. He doesn’t ask for much, not when he already has you.

"White Chase" Smoker

Smoker never imagined he’d be leaving Loguetown, but when he did to chase after Luffy, he brought you with him. Being his wife and a marine wasn’t easy, and more often than not you both went to bed exhausted from chasing pirates. In his dreams, he imagines a simpler life for the two of you. You’d both still be in Loguetown, and he would still be a marine. However, no one needed to be wary of pirates who made landfall, and his job would be just to catch occassional thieves. He wouldn’t mind if you were still a marine or not in the quiet town, he would be more than happy knowing you’d be safer now. You could even start a family of your own, and Smoker would tell his child tales of his time served.

"Desert King" Sir Crocodile

With his money and power, there wasn’t much Crocodile couldn’t attain in the world, that much he had been sure of. But when it came to you, he started to ponder otherwise. Though you had no direct part in the Cross Guild, he still wishes he was able to keep you away from any and all danger that came by being associated with him. He could see himself being a retired mafia boss, living somewhere hidden with you. He wouldn’t need bodyguards, not unless necessary, he would have a peace he didn’t know he could have alongside you. Yet he knew that would only be a dream, but perhaps someday, he’d give you that world and more.

Donquixote Rosinante "Corazon"

When you joined him and Law in search of a cure for the Amber Lead Syndrome, he was happy not to be alone, and even more that you and the young boy got along well. He had always been alone, especially in his brother’s crew, so when you joined it was a welcome change. He would imagine the lives you’d have when it was all over. He’d give the evidence of Doflamingo’s plans to Sengoku and ask for a discharge, retiring as a marine to move somewhere quiet and remote. You, him and Law would be a family, far away from anyone who dares lay a finger on you. But if push comes to shove, he would be ready to fight for his wife and adopted son.

Eustass “Captain” Kid

After he fought with Shanks, he had an excrutiatingly painful phantom pain.

He’s angrier, breaks things and yells at any moment’s notice. More so than usual, anyway.

He didn’t know why it was aching, he had already made a prosthetic for it, and it made him angrier not knowing the reason why.

He would even yell at you, especially if you ask him about it. He refuses to be perceived as vulnerable by the crew.

You have to sit this man down. And only in the privacy of the bedroom, he won’t accept any other place.

While he wants to maintain an image to his crew, he was willing to make you a sole exception as his lover. Although, he gave in rather begrudgingly.

You gently take off the hulking metal arm, not wanting to trigger more pain, struggling slightly because of the weight.

Kid lets out a huff of laughter as he sees you put it aside. “Heh, arm too heavy for ya?” “Takin’ care of me now, lass?”

Don’t mistake his remarks as him being ungrateful, he just can’t help but tease you. He really does appreciate your help.

He’ll watch as you massage his residual limb and kiss his scars, soothing the phantom pain that lingers. Your touch is like a healing balm that makes the pain gradually fade, calming the raging storm that was pent up all from the ache.

He’ll pull you in for a kiss once you’re finished, sitting you down on his lap. “Thank you, my bonny bird. Just the sweetest little thing, aren’t you?”

You sure as hell have to tell him to apologize to the crew, and he gives one with a light scoff and new (stolen) furniture.

Akagami no Shanks

After giving him a clean bill of health and suturing the wound, Hongo immediately tells you about Shanks’ condition and possible side effects from losing a limb, both mental and physical.

God knows this man can’t be trusted to take care of himself. Not properly, anyway.

It wasn’t long before Shanks was back to being his usual self again, drinking with everyone, cracking jokes, and messing with Luffy, trying to get him to chin up after the boy felt at fault.

He wasn’t too upset about losing an arm, it was to protect Luffy after all. “It’s just an arm! It means one less hand to hold a mug!” He tells you, laughing out loud with his crew.

You pout, about to lecture to take it more seriously, only to yelp as he pulls you to his side without warning. He leans back and has his arm around you, a big smile on his face.

“Stop worrying so much, I’m fine! Pirates are built tougher than this.”

All you can do is sigh and give a slight smile, knowing how resilient (and stubborn) your lover can be.

After a while, Shanks felt the phantom pain in his residual limb, and he looks more annoyed than in pain.

He scratches at it but it doesn’t help, so he turns to you. “Mind giving me a hand? The stump itches, one hand just isn’t cutting it.”

You remember what Hongo told you about the phantom pain, so you move over to massage the residual limb and keep it warm with your hands, asking him if he needs medicine to help with the pain.

He declines but thanks you, giving you a sweet kiss that makes Makino and the entire crew smile from how cute it was. “Hey Makino! Another round of drinks for us, my girl deserves a drink!

Sir Crocodile

It had been years since he had lost his hand and got his signature scar, so the phantom pain was much more bearable and nearly non-existent. He already knew all the ways to deal with it and what causes it, as expected of a man like himself.

When it really hits is when it’d been a stressful day, which was inevitable. Being one of the heads of Cross Guild was no easy job, after all.

He wouldn’t let it show, especially if it was still daytime. No one must know a weakness of his, no matter how small or insignificant.

But with you, it’s different. In the comfort of your home, he didn’t feel the need to be the immovable ex-warlord. He was simply your husband, Sir Crocodile.

So after a particularly exhausting day, he returned home, feeling a sharp, throbbing ache in his residual limb.

You were in the kitchen preparing dinner, back facing away from the entry way. Upon hearing the click of the door’s lock, you turn around with a warm smile.

“I’m home, darling.” Crocodile greets you, but perhaps it was in his tone or movement that you sensed something amiss.

But you just knew him too well.

You exit the kitchen and ask him if he’s alright, and he doesn’t skirt around the issue. He’s honest with his beloved, and this wasn’t something to hide, no, not from you.

He downplays it, however; “It’s phantom pain, a chronic pain in my left arm. Don’t worry about it, darling.”

He sits on the armchair and removes his hook, doing a routine massage to ease the pain away, only for your hands to replace his. Your soft, gentle hands did wonders, more than his own ever did over the years.

He leans back, eyes half lidded as he looks down and watches you work your magic. His right hand takes his cigar and extinguishes it on the ash tray beside him.

Once you’re finished, he pulls you in for a kiss, the smokey yet familiar taste of his cigar still on his lips.

Expect him to ask you to do it more often, and he won’t take no for an answer. He’s never felt something as good as your warmth soothe away his pain, and he didn’t want to go back to doing it himself.

It started out as a normal day, you had left your apartment early to go to the ADA Office, bag in hand.

Ranpo had slept in- a normal occurence- and you didn’t want to disturb his sleep. He would’ve gotten cranky and told you 5 more minutes, like always.

As you walked, you could sense a looming danger in your gut. Looking back, you could see someone following you. You try shaking him off, but before you knew it, they threw you in a van, tying you in restraints and taping your mouth shut.

An hour after you were kidnapped, Ranpo received an urgent phone call from the Agency. His morning grouchiness disappeared the moment he heard about your kidnapping.

If anyone saw him in the apartment at that moment, they would’ve seen him get ready faster than when his favourite candy got a new flavour.

Arriving at the Agency, Ranpo had a serious expression on his face, a quiet anger bubbling inside.

Entering the conference room where everyone was seated, Kunikida quickly clued him in on the facts of the case. Surveillance footage, locations, possible suspects, no information was spared to triangulate your location.

Ranpo prided himself on his skills, but the thought of losing you weighed on his mind, and he knew a minor error could spell trouble for you.

The gang that had kidnapped you was organized, working for a hacker who had a grudge on Ranpo for locking his brother away. They mocked the agency by hacking computers and phones, making demands.

After a few days of dealing with calls for ransom and deals falling through, they pinpoint your location to a building about to be demolished.

The ADA went into action, Atsushi and Kunikida making quick work of the gang as Junichiro snuck by with his ability to free you and help you get away.

Ranpo was waiting outside, his expression turning into relief as he saw you safe and sound. You were shaken up, but safe and unharmed.

Ranpo stood there, smiling at the sight of you, but you couldn’t return it.

Days pass and you hadn’t left the apartment. The ADA was understanding of the situation, and Fukuzawa gave you paid leave to recover.

At home, you were anxious constantly, looking around constantly. Shadows that loomed reminded you of the dark figures of your captors, the dark reminding you of how you were blindfolded.

You knew of the occupational hazard, being a clerk at the Agency, but it shook you to your core.

Ranpo was beside himself, he didn’t know what to do. Emotional support was never his strong suit.

He was methodical, doing everything as he knows from police protocol. Anything you needed, given before you even asked. Blankets? Warm and folded by the bed. Dinner? Takeout is on the way. Sweets? He’d share his favourites.

But none of it helped your condition. Your nightmares still plagued you, and you were still anxious to leave the safety of the apartment.

So Ranpo turned to the only person he thought could help, Fukuzawa.

“I don’t get it, I do everything I need to but nothing works. What am I missing?” Ranpo pouts as he sits on Fukuzawa’s desk. The older man was patient, listening to Ranpo’s troubles.

“What they needs is you, Ranpo. Make them feel safe and loved. Sometimes it’s all we need to give.” Fukuzawa advised, spoken with wisdom only granted with time.

Ranpo was a little skeptical, but took the advice and headed back to the apartment.

You were on the futon, watching TV as a distraction. Ranpo entered and made sure you heard so you wouldn’t be spooked.

He sat behind you, hugging you from behind and looking down at you with a bright smile.

“I’m home!” He greets, “I’ve got sweets in my pocket, and some of them got your name on it!”

“Thank you, Ranpo.” You spoke softly, taking the lollipop he hands to you.

“I also have a day off all week.”

You look up at him on confusion. What did he say?

“A week off? But don’t they need you? I-I can take care of myself.” You assured, but Ranpo only pouts.

“But I wanna spend it with you! Besides, the boss already gave me permission.” He smirks, tossing a candy into his mouth. “And I miss my favourite clerk at the agency, so I’ll be here until you feel safe enough to leave.”

“But what if I’m not better in a week-”

“Then I take another week! The agency can take care of themselves.”

Ranpo sticks his tongue out, a blue colour on it from the candy. For the first time since the incident, you let out a small laugh. Both at his boldness and his silliness.

Ranpo’s smile widened at your laugh, happy he lifted your mood.

“Don’t worry about a thing, sweetheart! You’ve got the world’s greatest detective to protect you!” He kisses your cheeks, your laughter flooding the room as your anxieties start to retreat to the back of your mind.

Ranpo makes sure it stays that way, between tickles and sweets, warm blankets and kisses.

It had been a few weeks since Jiaoqiu returned from the Xianzhou Luofu, and you had become protective and a full on caregiver to the foxian. From morning till night, you were by his side to assist him. You guided him around your shared home, made his meals, and did most of the household chores. He was grateful, of course, but it was a tad bit unnecessary.

“Let me get that for you!”

You’d say as you open the bedroom door.

“I made it only a little spice so it wouldn’t hurt.”

You’d say as you serve him his meal.

“Do you need me to help you bathe?”

Well that offer he wouldn’t mind.

That aside, while he adored you with all his heart, he was getting tired of your somewhat overbearing nature. He knew your intentions came from a place of love, but this was getting old.

Jiaoqiu sat in the living room, head faced towards you as you prepared the hotpot for dinner. He offered to help, but you insisted on doing it yourself, saying he’ll get cuts or burn himself.

“Dearest?” Jiaoqiu called, getting up from his seat. You turned your head and smiled.

“Yes, love? Need something?” Your eyes widened slightly as Jiaoqiu moved toward you, slowly moving past the table and chairs, taking care as to not knock anything down. “Wait, I’ll move-” Before you could stop him, he was already in front of you. “-To you.”

“Let me help you with preparing the ingredients.” He reached for the knife at the knife block. Already sensing your interjection, he raises his hand momentarily. “Remember dearest, this is my kitchen. Unless you moved things arorund, I know where my knives and spices are.”

Jiaoqiu gave a knowing smirk, knowing you couldn’t refute that. Picking up his cleaver, he started to cut the vegetables. He knew the meat would be too difficult to cut, so he entrusted that task to you. He sighed, sensing your gaze still on him as he worked, not doubt full of worry. His ears quirked up as he heard you pick up another cutting board, standing next to him while you worked.

“These are good vegetables we bought.” He mused, picking up the bok choy. “Fresh, crisp. perfect for hotpot.”

“You’re the one who chose them at the market.” You couldn’t help but chuckle softly at his remarks, knowing he was just trying to get you to smile. He didn’t need to be a doctor to know how stressed you were the past days.

“Did I now? Must’ve slipped my mind.” He shrugged as he placed the vegetables on a plate. “Please set it at the table for me, dearest.” He asked of you as he headed to the pot.

“I got it.” You called as you plate the meat and brought it over to the table along with the vegetables and dipping sauces. You rushed over to Jiaoqiu’s side, watching as he picked up jars from the spice rack. “Let me take care of that, I know-”

“I can handle this, dearest.” He interrupted, reaching over to squeeze your shoulder reassuringly. It eased your nerves a little, seeing the confidence your lover carried himself with. He was right, after all, this is his kitchen and he knew it better than you did. He opened the jars, mixing together various spices to make a wonderful medley in the hotpot, a wonderful aroma filling the air. “I think chefs not worth their salt can’t even differentiate their sichuan pepper from regular pepper, or buy them pre-mixed. Please tell me you haven’t been doing that for our meals.”

You smiled and laughed. “I promise, all dishes use spices from that beloved spice rack of yours.”

“Good. Now give this a try.” Jiaoqiu grabbed a spoon and got a little bit of broth, handing it to you. You carefully took it from his grip, blowing on it and giving it a taste. You swallowed immediately, feeling your mouth and throat burning from the spice, face becoming slightly flushed. But it made you happy in a way.

“Jiaoqiu level of spicy.” The foxian smiled confidently, to which you returned with a grin. It then faded and became a look of concern. “Is that okay? Can you handle it? With your new condition, and all…”

Jiaoqiu sighed, finally hearing it come up. He sprinkled in the last few spices before covering the pot with a lid. He faced you, holding onto your sides. “I appreciate your help, dearest, but I can take care of myself. We’ve lived in this house for a while now, I can navigate just fine on my own.”

“But you could trip, or get hurt.”

“Nothing a good hotpot won’t fix.” He chuckled. “Or even a good snack.” He reached a hand up to your cheek, caressing it gently. “I never felt the need to ask since we came home from the Xianzhou Luofu, but what do you think of me now?”

You paused, a little confused. What did you think of him? He’s your significant other, you love him unconditionally. But you knew that wasn’t the answer he was after. You knew that he knew the answer to that. “What do you mean, love? I love you as I always have.”

“Let me rephrase it, then. Do you think of me differently now that I’m blind?”

“Of course not!” You instantly retorted, rejecting the notion immediately. It was absurd to even comprehend a world where you loved him less or thought of him less because of it.

“Mhm.” He hummed, rubbing his thumb on your cheek. “Now that I’m blind, there are things I miss. I miss seeing the you everyday, I miss the sight of hotpot, and I miss cooking for you. But I don’t need my eyes for any of that. I love those regardless.” He pulled you closer, slowly using his hands to feel your face.

“Love? What’s this for?” You decided to speak up after a moment. Your lover only chuckled as he cupped your face in his hands.

“I just wanted to feel your beautiful face. I know you’re looking at me with those eyes, the ones I know hold so much love for me.” His smile turned into a sly smirk, making you laugh and playfully nudge him. “And you’ve got squishy cheeks, and soft hair- Ah, I just felt those cheeks warm up.”

“Jiaoqiu!” You laughed more, cheeks becoming flushed at his compliments. “Why are you telling me this?”

“I’m trying to show you I don’t need my eyes.” He lowered his hands, reaching for yours. He held them in a firm, affectionate grip, his thumbs caressing the back of her hands. “I know this house, this kitchen like the back of hand, and I know my dearest as well as they know themselves.” The foxian’s expression softened, pressing his forehead to yours. “I can feel your love in your care, your cooking, in your heartbeat, and in the way I know your cheeks are red over the compliments. But I want to take care of you too.”

“But I’m trying to help.”

“I know you are, but it doesn’t sit right with me. I’ll help cook and clean when I’m not at work, okay? Isn’t that what couples are supposed to do?” Jiaoqiu leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to your lips, and in an instant your initial reservations and doubts melted. Your lover was a capable man, and you shouldn’t have doubted him in the first place.

“I’m sorry, love. I’ll be less overbearing, and I’ll let you help me with the chores.” Jiaoqiu’s smile widened at your words, right hand returning to your cheek.

“Although, I don’t mind if you continue to help me in the bath.” He chuckled, tail brushing against your side in a sly, suggestive manner. “How about we take one after the hotpot? Let out some steam after all that spice.”

When a child is born into the world, they are granted an enchanted seed, one forever tied to that lifetime’s soulmate. No one knows where it comes from, it appears as mysteriously as it exists. No matter the attempts to destroy or dispose, the seed will always return to its holder. Whether it’s planted in a pot or kept in a specialized locket, one thing was for sure: The moment you meet your soulmate it sprouts, until it finally blooms to a flower. No two flowers sprouted were ever alike, except for the two soulmates who shared it.

Over the years that he’s been with the Revolutionaries, not once has Sabo seen his own sprout move. From as far back as his memories can go, the plant was in a bud, so close to blooming. Its petals were almost visible, bursting at the seams of the bud. It pained him, filled him with a sense of deep longing he couldn’t place. It almost frustrated him, seeing the budding locket every morning, yearning to find its other half as he did.

Where was his soulmate? How could he forget someone so important to his life?

He knows he’s met them— he must’ve if the seed had grown to the stage it was in.

And so he wears it around his neck, hoping, praying that one day he’ll see it finally bloom. That one day he’ll finally reunite with his destined lover.

‘You’ll find them with time,’ he thought, no need to rush.

But in his spare time, Sabo often visited islands in the hope of searching for his soulmate. It was a shot in the dark, but there was no concrete solution to finding them. No amount of intelligence gathering can find another’s soulmate, that one was tied to fate. He often found himself passing through crowds, glancing at the locket for even a sliver of hope that he had crossed paths with them.

But each time he peered at his locket, his heart would sink. No dice, like always.

You had arrived on an island with your bag in tow, standing in line to unboard the ship. You were on a trip on behalf of your parents, helping to expand the family business by setting up a shop in the Grand Line. The trip was long and arduous, enough that you already felt homesick. Your home of Fusha Village was vastly different from the things you’ve seen so far on the high seas, but you knew the brothers would have it harder.

It had only been a year since Ace left to become a pirate, and you were lucky to have met him while the ship docked as a stopover. He told you of his adventures, introduced you to his crew, and showed you the tattoo on his arm, dedicating the 's' to Sabo.

It was sweet, a thoughtful gesture of the man towards his fallen brother. But it pained you.

You could recall it clear as day, you were with Makino, helping at the bar when you heard the news that a Celestial Dragon shot down a young boy’s ship. It broke your heart when later on Dogra ran down to inform you it was Sabo’s ship. Your soulmate was gone, but when you looked at the sprout, it was alive, but burned.

Ever since then, you would spend lonely days staring at the pot it was housed, praying for a miracle he was alive. Was it your bond that kept it alive even after death? You didn’t know, but it brought you comfort to see it steadfast, giving you the hope and strength you need.

Letting out a sigh, you shake the memories out of your head. You headed to the lot you had reserved months prior, a small spot in the middle of town. The landlord met up with you, handing you the keys once you paid in full. You entered and headed further inside, to the living space at the back. It was small, but comfortable. The furniture bundled in was a bonus too.

You started to unpack, placing your belongings in their respective areas, ending with the small pot holding your sprout. You picked it up, your gaze melancholic. With a small smile, you brought it over to the front of the shop, setting it down on a counter.

“There you go. Plenty of sunshine here.” You chuckled softly, admiring the sunkissed plant. Standing up, you decide to head to the village square for now. You were too tired to finish unpacking, but it’d be a waste of a day to sleep it off. Grabbing your wallet and keys, you head out into the busy streets.

Sabo turned down a small alley, away from the people as he glanced at his locket. He couldn’t place why, but there seemed to be something different today. Something gnawed at him from the back his mind. But seeing no change, he let out a disappointed sigh. Was it just his imagination? Maybe this soulmate searching finally got to him. Heading back into the crowd, he steered toward the direction of the docks, ready to set sail for Baltigo.

That was until he bumped into you, arms nudging against the other’s.

“Sorry.” You smiled apologetically, bowing slightly. “I wasn’t looking where I was going.”

Sabo stared at you, frozen in place with jaw ajar. Seeing his expression, full of disbelief, made you assume that you offended the man. Not wanting a confrontation, you bowed again and brisk walked away, heading back to your store. Sabo continued to stand there, eyes widening as his breath caught in his throat.

“… (Y/N.)” He muttered, snapping out of his thoughts when he felt something soft touch his cheek.

A petal.

The sprout in his locket had bloomed.

He looked at it in disbelief, a wide smile spreading on his face.

When your eyes met, he remembered you. Remembered everything. Meeting you, his time with his brothers, his life at the Gray Terminal, all memories he thought he’d never regain.

With his eyes twinkling with excitement, he ran after you, calling out your name as he chased you down the street.

“(Y/N)! Wait!” He cried, trying to grab your attention.

You however, were terrified out of your wits, picking up your pace. Who was this strange man chasing after you? How did he know your name? You never met him before, hell, this was your first day on that island!

You stumble into your store, turning around to lock the door, but it was too late. The blond man entered your store, standing at the entryway.

Sabo looked at you in awe, like a child who’s just seen their first sunset.

You were nothing less than gorgeous.

Oh how he wished he could’ve grown up alongside you and see you become the wonderful person you were now.

“Can I help you…?” You ask, hands behind your back as you smiled politely. Sabo lowered his hat, looking at you with love and sincerity.

It was then you notice the flower locket around his neck. The very same one Sabo owned.

Your breath hitched. Could it be?

“Sabo…? Is it you…?” Your eyes widened, taking in his features. The blond hair, the hat, the clothes… he was a striking image of your soulmate.

“Yes, (Y/N) it’s me.” Already anticipating your next move, he reached his arms out to you. You smiled, tears pricking your eyes as you ran into his open arms, getting wrapped in his warm, loving embrace. Even after all these years, those arms still held you tight, comforted you with the same affection.

“Sabo! I missed you so much, there’s so much I want to ask, to tell you, I’ve got to tell you about Ace and Luffy, and-”

“Hey, hey! Calm down.” He chuckled, pressing his finger to your lips. “I can tell you all of that later.”

“I know, it’s just… I missed you.” You glance to the side, looking at the pot that held your bloomed flower. Its petals were singed, but it was a clear match to the one in the locket. Sabo took noticed, his expression softening as he unclasped his locket.

“I remember.” He started, setting it down on the counter and next to the pot. “You love seeing them together.”

“Can you blame me? They’re our soulmate flowers.” You cupped his face, making him face you. He couldn’t stop the wide grin that spread his face, nor the way his hands wrapped around your waist to pull you close. “It’s been waiting for you to come back, Sabo. we both have.”

“I’m sorry I made you worry. But I’m here now. And I won’t disappear again.” Sabo leaned in, pressing a soft kiss on your lips. One of love and promise, one that was your final reassurance that yes, he was truly here with you. When you part, you gestured to the door leading further into the lot.

“Let’s head inside, I’ve got so much to talk to you about!”

“Lead the way, my dear.” You took Sabo’s hand, staying close as you headed inside.

The bloomed flowers sat on the counter, together once more.

As they always should’ve been, and how they always will be.

The sun beamed down on the Polar Tang as it docked on a small island. It had been several days since the Heart Pirates had been out at sea, and upon seeing an island across the horizon, Law thought it best to head over for a resupply. Once the submarine was secure and tucked away, you head to the deck, feeling the warm breeze. Being cooped up inside always makes you grateful for the outside, even if the sun ends up too bright upon exit.

“The weather’s great, Law!” You called out behind you, seeing your captain step outside, followed by the rest of the crew. Law took his place by your side, examining the area as the crew took some time to stretch after the long travel. You giggled as you watched as Bepo lied down on his stomach, recovering from the heat that came with riding the Polar Tang.

“Oi, Bepo, get up, birds might think you’re a new floor rug.” Penguin joked, leaning on the mink with his arm.

“Sorry.” Bepo apologized, sticking his tongue out to cool off. Law turned around to address his crew.

“Everyone, we’ll be only staying here for a day or two. Be sure to get all necessary supplies we need and don’t cause any trouble.” He ordered, pleased as he heard a simultaneous “Yes Captain!” Law then turned to face you, meeting your gaze with a more softened expression. “Y/n-ya, will you go into town with everyone?”

You looked over to Bepo, seeing as he was still panting and struggling to cool down. “I’ll stay here with Bepo. You guys go have fun.”

“Ehh. Bepo will be fine here, come join us explore the island!” Shachi invited, nudging you playfully and snickering as he noticed Law glance his way with an annoyed look.

“It’s okay, besides, someone’s got to watch over the ship.” You walked over to Bepo, patting him on the back. “And Bepo.”

“Thank you.” Bepo smiled at your kindness, a breath of fresh air from Penguin and Shachi’s teasing. You returned his smile and sat next to him.

“You guys go on ahead, just be sure to bring back some snacks!” You assured. Law nodded and turned around, hopping off the ship.

“You heard her, let’s go.” He called as the rest of the crew followed suit, leaving the ship. He knew you could handle guarding the ship, and with Bepo around, he had nothing to worry about.

Soon it was midday, and the others still hadn’t returned. You and Bepo were still on the deck, Bepo was drawing a map as you lied down to enjoy the sun, arms behind your head. You were both startled as a den den mushi rang, coming from Bepo’s pocket. He reached into his pocket and answered the call.

“Hello?” He spoke into the microphone. You sat up to listen in, in the event that the call was for an emergency.

“Bepo! Go into town! They have a cheap price on all the fish in the market!” Shachi spoke, a hint of excitement in his voice. “Help us buy and carry them!”

“Fish…” Bepo’s mouth watered as he spoke in a dreamy way, already imaging all the delicious seafood in the market. You couldn’t help but laugh, despite being a trained warrior and pirate, he was still very much a polar bear mink.

“Go ahead, Bepo.” You gestured to the town. “Go find Shachi and Penguin.”

“Eh? But I’m supposed to guard the ship with you!”

“I’ll be fine here.” You reassured with a pat on his back.

“You heard her, Bepo, c’mon!” Penguin spoke up, sounding almost impatient, as if they had been waiting on him for a while. Bepo glanced back and forth between you and the den den mushi, ultimately giving in because of the warm, reassuring smile on your face.

“Okay.” Bepo got up on his feet, hanging up the call. “I’ll be back as soon as I can!”

“Be sure to get some good fish, I’ll cook us all a delicious dinner with it.” Bepo smiled and gave you a hug before running off, racing to the town’s market. You giggled and sat back down to continue relaxing.

You were caught off guard when you heard loud footsteps board the ship. Quickly scrambling on your feet, you notice several pirates surrounding you on the deck. You were quick to reach for your sword, drawing it as you assessed the number of enemies you’d have to fight. You grit your teeth, knowing there were too many for you to handle. The best choice was to run as soon as there was an opening.

You could hear the jeers and hurls of insults towards you, and toward Law. You tried to fight as they approached, taking them down with swordsmanship taught to you by your lover. You held your ground, putting up a fierce fight against the pirates, looking for any opening in their attacks. Scratches, bruises and cuts started to litter your skin from the relentless barrage of swords swung your way. Then, the path was clear. You raced down the deck, hoping to rush into town and get help from your crew. You stumble off the Polar Tang, scrambling to your feet to continue running.

“I don’t think so, lass!” You hear a gruff voice from behind roar. You feel a heavy impact to the back of your head, and your vision fades to black.

Law headed to the town market, noticing that the townspeople seem to be preparing for a fair. He took a look around, seeing the unopened stalls and the cheerful people all around. As he passed by one of the few opened stores, a trinket caught his eye. it was a jewel necklace that reminded him of your eyes. Before he could pick it up, a loud voice called out to him.

“Oi! Captain!” He heard Penguin call out. Law turned around, surprised to see Shachi, Penguin and Bepo together. Bepo had a huge tuna fish hauled on his shoulders as the other two carried a bag of groceries each.

“Bepo? Weren’t you with Y/n-ya?” Law asked, walking up to his crewmates.

“She told me I could go into town to help Shachi and Penguin buy fish for dinner.” Bepo replied, patting the fish he carried. “We were about to head back.”

Law stared at the trio, getting a bad feeling at the thought of you left alone on the ship. He couldn’t shake off the feeling that something had happened to you.

“I’m going back to the ship, tell the others to return as soon as they can.” Law turned to leave, brisk walking to the direction of the shore. The trio, though confused, obeyed their captain’s command and ran off to separate directions. They didn’t dare question their captain’s intuition, trusting his decisions wholeheartedly no matter how odd they were. They quickly gathered up the crew, heading back to the Polar Tang with haste. When the crew arrived, they found Law on the deck, a note tightly grasped in his hands. He crushed the note in his hands, an intimidating, enraged aura surrounding the Heart Pirates’ Captain. Clutching his sword tightly, he turned around and faced his crew.

“What happened, Captain? Where’s-” Bepo was cut off as Law hopped off the deck and back to shore.

“Y/n-ya was taken by pirates. They threaten to kill her if I don’t go to that mountain alone.” Law pointed behind them, to an odd mishapen mountain with a large cliff. “All of you wait closeby, at the foot of the mountain. I’ll save her, and if we don’t return by nightfall, you have my permission to climb up.”

“But it could be a trick-” Law cut off Penguin this time.

“Trick or not, I will not risk a member of our crew getting hurt. You will all wait for my command or if I don’t return by night. Am I clear?”

“Yes, captain!” The crew spoke simultaneously, giving a small salute.

“Good.” Law headed off, his crew trailing behind him a good distance away.

“Pipe down, lass!” The pirate captain yelled at you, throwing a punch to your face to quiet down your muffled screams. You were bloodied and bruised, mouth taped shut to prevent and cries from being heard. The captain had you tied to a chair, with it being close to the mountain cliff. The captain and his crew tortured you relentlessly, punching, kicking, slashing, every attack they could inflict on you was dealt. You had become numb to the pain as your blood started to pool by your feet. “What’s taking your captain so long? Abandon you, did he?”

You huffed, glaring at the burly man as you struggled in your restraints once more. The pirate captain merely laughed at your anger and plight, brushing it off.

“I said pipe down, lass. Scream all you want later when I throw you onto the jagged spikes below!” He laughed boisterously, shoving your chair to faces the large stalagmites below. Your eyes widen and you try to move away, to which the captain pulled you back forcefully. He shoved you to the ground, making your vision blur and mind dizzy. He set you back up, like a display for when the Heart Pirates’ captain arrives. “I’m going to make your captain watch you fall down there, lass.”

“I won’t let you do that.” Law’s steely voice called out from within the woods. He stepped out, eyes burning with a rage you had never seen before when his eyes landed on your barely conscious figure.

“So you finally arrive, Trafalgar Law! Do you remember me?” The rival captain smirked proudly, a dark gleam in his eye.

“I can’t be expected to remember every pirate I meet.” Law’s response angers the pirate, and he raised his cloak, revealing an empty space on the left side of his chest.

“You stole my heart, lad! Sold it to those damned World Government dogs to get your status as a Warlord!” The pirate captain madly grinned, with Law narrowing his eyes. “Rumour has it this lass is the one who stole your heart. An eye for an eye.” Law grew tired of the pirate’s tirade, raising his arm. “Careful, I placed a bomb on her! Move her from that spot and a bomb goes off!”

Your lover was unfazed by the captain’s threat, not that such an amateur could ever best him. “Room! Shambles!” In an instant, you were close to Law, but he was shocked to see there was not a bomb on you. When he realized it was a trick, it was too late. The captain had lunged and stabbed through you, piercing through your chest and hitting Law’s shoulder. If Law was angry before, he was furious now. He cut the enemy’s sword in two, shoving him aside and chopping him to pieces. Law pointed his sword to the captain’s neck, a silent threat on his life should he pull something like this again. He then heard your cough, to which Law moved to your side, untying the ropes and carrying you in his arms.

“Law…” You muttered softly, coughing onto his clothes. He looked down at you with a serious yet gentle expression. He pulled you close, bringing you out of the woods. The Heart Pirates were down below, standing by the defeated enemy crew.

They were about to greet the two of you, but stopped when Law gave a fierce. “Not now.”

You were swiftly brought to the Polar Tang, straight to the operating room. As he laid you down on the table, the crew prepared Law’s tools, bringing it over on a cart. Once you were hooked up to the necessary machines, he operated on you with care and precision, his heart heavy at the sight of how beaten you were. Once the operation was over, you were placed on an infirmary bed and brought to your shared room, where he could watch over you.

After a couple of days, you finally stirred awake. Your body felt weak and groggy, mind hazy as you tried to look around. You heard the door open as a tray drops to the floor. You hear a gasp, Bepo’s if you had to guess. You could hear him hurriedly leave and call for Law, who rushed to your side immediately. His eyes dart across your body, checking for anything amiss. Once it was all clear, he breathed a sigh of relief.

“How are you feeling? You were stabbed in the chest, and…” Law shook his head. “I’ll spare you the details, you’re weak, don’t try to move.” His expression became stern. “Do you understand what almost happened to you, Y/n-ya? You almost died, why didn’t you run? Or try to call me? Better yet, you could’ve gone with Bepo at the market!” He scolded, taking a moment to compose himself slightly. “We could’ve lost you, I could’ve lost you! Don’t you understand?! I can’t lose you too!” You flinch at his outburst, causing him to pause and take a deep breath. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to yell at you. I’m just worried. I can’t risk losing you, not when I have the power to protect you.”

Your hand twitched, and you mustered all the strength you had to place your hand over his. The wordless action brought him the comfort he needed, what he needed to ground himself. It wasn’t right, he should be doing that for you, not vice versa. But it calmed him. You’re here. You’re safe. He could scold you all he wanted once you recovered, but for now, he needed to be by your side, be your rock, and let you know that he would be there for you. Placing a kiss atop your head, he sat at your bedside, promising to be there for you no matter what.

How long has it been since you were caged?

A day or two, you suppose. Fed scraps of food along with the other slaves in cages, trapped in a dark room at sea.

No, you were caged for far longer than that.

You had been serving as a maid to a Celestial Dragon for years now, perhaps even a decade. It was a hell, a life you wished you could escape from.

Not even in dreams were you safe, as nightmares plagued you each night.

“Hey gurlie, you gonna finish that?” You hear a voice call from the cage next to you. You look over to see burly man, pointing to a scrap of bread you had leftover. A former pirate captain, if you had to guess.

“I can spare a little.” You offered, picking up the piece of bread. You dropped it as you flinched, looking down at your bruised hands. With a pained expression, you start to recall the day’s events. The Celestial Dragon you worked under had gotten into a foul mood, taking it out on you when you messed up his cup of tea. He smacked a heavy centerpiece down on your hands multiple times, before sending you to the second ship following his. It was a dingy one, old and clearly having seen better days. Most of the slaves were kept there, “Filthy, worthless slaves have no place on my ship.” was the despicable man’s principle.

You picked up the piece of bread again, tearing a piece off and throwing it over to your neighbor. He picked it up, swallowing it whole since there was nothing much to begin with. “Thank you, gurlie.” He bowed his head in gratitude, something you didn’t expect, but the man’s spirit was broken, he no longer had a will to be defiant and fight. You sighed and leaned back against the cage bars, hoping to get more rest while you still can. That was until you were jolted from your spot, hitting the other side of the cage. The ship had stopped abruptly, as if stopped by a powerful force. The slaves who still had energy all rose from their cages, trying to catch a glimpse through the grate above. Screams could be heard all throughout the ship as an unseen fight rages. When it ends, you heard a young male’s voice call, his silhouette peering in.

“Over here! I see people down there!” He spoke with a commanding voice, breaking the grate’s lock and flipping it open. The man jumped down, examining the room before him. From what you could make out, he was a tall, blond man around your age, sporting a coat and top hat. “This is terrible. don’t worry, I’ll get you all out of here. Did you guys find any keys?” He asked, before a keyring was dropped down, landing in his open hand. The blonde started opening the cages, removing each of the collars with haki and tossing them away, exploding on the ceiling and breaking it apart. As light streamed in, you could make out more figures aboard the ship, presumably the blonde’s comrades.

You were snapped out of your thoughts when you heard the cage door open, a hand reaching through. The man gave you a warm smile. “It’s okay, we’re getting all of you out of here.” He assured. You stared at him with a cautious, reluctant expression, unsure if you can trust his words. You knew well that the only way out of being a slave was through death. You had seen it time and again, and it was through sheer luck you were still breathing. “C’mon, take my hand.” The man gestured for you to come closer. Without much of a choice, you took his hand and exited the cage, the collar being swiftly removed. “I think that’s all of them! Koala, is the ship ready?”

“We’re all set! Just waiting on you!” A female voice called out as a ladder drops from above.

“E-Excuse me.” You spoke up, causing the man to look at you. “Where are you taking us…?”

“We’ll be taking you to our ship. You’ll be safe there.” Your eyes widen at his words, you had heard them from before, long ago. Your breath hitched in your throat, hands trembling as memories flooded through your mind. You wanted to turn heel and run, out of poor instinct, but where are you to run? This man surely has many comrades at the ship’s deck.

You take a deep breath. Listen to them for now, you thought. For what it’s worth, wherever this man and his crew took you would be better than staying with the Celestial Dragon.

After the blonde man’s crew took you in, you were taken to their ship’s infirmary, where they assessed all the slaves’ wounds. They dressed your bruised hands with care, better than the simple self-care you had grown accustomed to. Over time, you had come to learn the girl’s name; Koala. She had a bright smile that eased your nerves, and yet, you couldn’t shake off the dread you felt. This whole situation, being stuck in a ship with people you were unfamiliar with, it brought back terrible memories from when you were first kidnapped.

It didn’t help that the man running the operation, Sabo, was constantly around.

He gave orders, checked on everything on the ship and even went to the infirmary every so often. His demeanor was similar to the slave dealer who had kept you; a happy, well dressed man.

Your mind raced, full of thoughts and emotions. What did these people want with you? With everyone? Were they really what you thought, bold slave dealers re-selling all of you for a higher profit?

Then again… They didn’t put a damned collar on you. But you didn’t know if the same was true for those outside the infirmary.

You were snapped out of your thoughts when you heard the infirmary door open. Koala stepped inside, holding what looked like a clipboard. She took a look around, checking and marking her clipboard every now and again. She then approached your bed, it was the one at the back of the room by your request.

“How are you feeling?” She asked with a warm smile. “You were the least injured, but I heard you’re malnourished. Did you eat…” Koala trailed off, noticing the untouched bowl of soup. It had a film at the top, an indication of how long it’s been sitting there. “You didn’t eat any of it?”

“I took a few spoonfuls, I’m not that hungry.” You lied, forcing a reassuring smile for the issue to not be pressed further. The brunette pouted, seeing through it immediately.

“You should eat more, you’re incredibly unhealthy!” She scolded, leaning forward to meet your gaze. “We’ll be docking at an island soon, don’t you want to leave this ship?”

You froze. An island? No, no, not Sabaody again. You don’t want to go back and be sold to another damned Celestial Dragon or World Noble. Staying on this ship would be the only way too avoid that fate. Being at the mercy of the powerful was like waiting for death.

“-Are you even listening?” You looked over to Koala, giving her another smile as you rub the back of your head.

“Yeah, yeah, I’ll be sure to eat more.” She simply sighed at your words, knowing there’d be no point trying to argue with you. You knew that she most likely knew of your behavior on this ship, how you’ve barely eaten anything. It wasn’t a risk you were willing to take, and for all you knew, they could be poisoning you.

“You’d better. And you should eat dinner too, okay?” Koala advised, her tone gentle and full of concern. She headed for the door, presumably to report back to Sabo.

Sabo stood by the ship’s bow, enjoying the cool breeze that blew in that part of the sea. He was ditching work to rest and watch the sea. Koala and everyone can handle everything, besides, they can just call him if they need him. As he gazed at the vast waters, he smiled brightly. Maybe he’ll be able to get away with slacking off–

“Sabo!” Spoken too soon, he thought, as he heard Koala’s voice call. “We’ve got a problem.”

“Depending how big it is, hand it over to Hack.” He replied with a dismissive wave, pretending to be disinterested. Koala let out a groan and pinched Sabo’s cheeks harshly.

“This is serious! It’s about one of the patients in the infirmary. She hasn’t been eating much for the past few days, just water and the occassional bread.”

“Has she asked for a different meal? Maybe she’s not big on soup. We’ve got meat, fish, shellfish–”

“She hasn’t asked for anything at all. She’s malnourished, it’s dangerous for her not to eat a balanced meal.” Sabo paused and put his hand to his chin, thinking about what to do next. He knew the issue had to be addressed immediately, and as the ship’s captain, he had responsibility for those onboard.

“I’ll take care of it. Can you ask the chef to bring over a fresh bowl of soup?”

“Were you listening? I said she doesn’t eat–”

“Make it two! And I’ll convince her, trust me! I’ll talk her into eating.” Koala raised a brow, a taunting smirk on her face.

“You? Really?” Sabo couldn’t help but snicker at her playful doubt. He’ll find a way, he always does.

Sabo entered the infirmary, bright smile on his face as he carried the tray of food. He didn’t sport his signature hat and coat, choosing to leave it in his room to have a simple, humble appearance. He walked to the back of the room, spotting you immediately. He walked on over, and the moment you took notice, your eyes widened in surprise. Taking a deep breath, you composed yourself, not giving any hint of fear. To the best of your ability, anyway.

“Hey!” Sabo greeted happily, pulling up a nearby chair to sit by your bedside. He set the bowls down, one at your bedside table and the other on his lap. “I heard you haven’t been eating much, why is that?”

“Oh, well… I’m not really hungry.” As if on cue, your stomach betrayed you, growling loudly to both the smell and sight of food.

“Not hungry, huh? I heard that stomach loud and clear!” He laughed, holding his bowl to not let any soup tipover and spill. He looked at you with a warm, reassuring smile. “There’s no need to hide it, let’s eat! The soup the chef makes is really good, but if you don’t want it, I can ask them to make whatever you’d like.”

You nodded, taking the bowl of soup and setting it down on your lap. You stared at it, watching your reflection before stirring it slowly. Sabo ate his portion, expecting you to follow suit. When he noticed your still movements, he lowered his spoon and looked at you with an expectant gaze, whether it was for you to eat or request a meal, you couldn’t tell.

“… What are you going to do with us?” You spoke up, meeting his gaze. Sabo paused, caught off guard with the strange question.

“The ones on the ship who are in good shape will be taken to an island we’re affiliated with. As for everyone in the infirmary, well, we’ll be taking you all to a different island when you’re all better.”

“Why?” Sabo raised a brow, not expecting that response from you. You swallowed the lump in your throat before you continued. “Don’t take them to Sabaody!”

“Sabaody? We’re not taking them to Sabaody.”

“Don’t lie!” In a fit of panicked rage, you threw the bowl of soup out of your lap, the hot liquid splashing on Sabo’s clothes. Your eyes widened, realizing what you had done. Your lip quivered as your trembling hands grabbed the blanket. “I-I’m sorry, I’m so, so sorry.” Your knelt in front of the blonde, using the cloth and wiping his clothes in an effort to clean the mess you made. Sabo looked at you with a serious, hardened expression, one full of concern and frustration at your sudden action. But it wasn’t frustration towards your outburst, no, it was toward the Celestial Dragon who had instilled fear into you, and the distrust towards others.

“Stop, you can stop.” He spoke softly, a hint of sternness to truly make sure you cease your actions. He helped you up to your feet, sitting you down on your bed. “I need to know the truth. What did you think we were up to?” Your eyes widened slightly, your breath hitched as your heart started to pound. Sensing your distress, Sabo’s expression softened, placing a hand on your shoulder. “I’m not going to be mad. I just wanted to know why you’re so cautious of everyone.”

“… I thought… The Revolutionary Army are a bunch of slave dealers, and you were going to bring us to Sabaody to sell us back to the auction house.” You averted your gaze, afraid to see his reaction. You didn’t know if you prefer to be right or wrong, were you to be right, it’d be a horrible fear coming true. Were you to be wrong, you’d be embarassed, and you felt that Sabo would be angry at you for such a horrible assumption.

“I see. You don’t know anything about the Revolutionary Army, do you?” He asked, his gaze steady on you. You shook your head, and he understood immediately the situation you had been in. He knelt down in front of you. “We’re against the Celestial Dragons. They’re our enemies. The place we’re going to is an island affiliated with our organization. Everyone will be safe there, and they’re free to go home, or start a new life on that island. You have nothing to be afraid of.” He smiled reassuringly, looking at you with sincerity and honesty that was undeniable. As you stared at him, a wave of guilt washed over you. Every act of kindness they had shown you, every single thing they had done for everyone, you repaid with ingratitude and indifference. You teared up, not because you were afraid of his anger, but because of the earnestness in Sabo’s expression making you relax. You finally felt safe.

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” You mumbled over and over, holding onto the sheets tightly. The blonde frowned, pulling out a handkerchief and wiping your tears.

“C’mon, no need to cry. It’s okay. You should be happy.” He smiled softly, holding onto your shoulders.

“I am happy.” You smiled, the most genuine one you’ve had in years. “I’m finally free, I’m safe. Thank you.”

“Don’t mention it. If only I was on the other team, maybe I could’ve thrown a punch or two on the Celestial Dragon who did that to you.” He snickered, and you couldn’t help but laugh along at his claim. It was outlandish, but it made you feel better. You hugged him tightly. hoping to convey the gratitude you felt from the bottom of your heart.

“Thank you, Sabo. You’re my savior.”

The Victoria Punk boarded the island of Sabaody Archipelago in search of a professional ship coater to help them cross the Red Line and enter the New World. You observed from the rails as the crew shouted orders to each other as they anchored the ship and pulled down the gangway. Heavy footsteps approached you from behind as you turned to see your boyfriend, Eutass Kid, who smiled smugly as he admired the view of Sabaody.

“What are you smirking about?” You asked.

He chuckled, “I’m just proud that we’re getting close to our goals,” He said.

Your eyes widened at his confidence, watching the shine glimmer in his eyes as you chuckled, “You’re really excited to get to the New World, huh?”

He nodded as he wrapped his arm around your shoulder, “That’s right and I’m glad that you’re here to support me,” He grinned down at you.

You smiled, happily as you heard a shout from below, “Kid! Everything’s all settled!” Killer’s voice echoed.

Kid pulled away from the embrace as you both went down the gangway and your boots landed on Sabaody’s soil. You eyes widened in wonder as you stepped around the grassy floor, feeling a slight mushy texture as bubbles erupted from the grass.

“Sabaody is so weird yet amazing..” You muttered, admiring the bright and the bubbly atmosphere of the archipelago.

The Kid pirates walked around the grooves, the gigantic trees gives off an enchanting ambience while the bubbles float to the top. You watched the locals of Sabaody do their daily routine as your gasped in surprise with their transportation—a man rides a bike but the bike doesn’t use wheels, but a big bubble as he pedaled around with his grocery. A woman holding hands with her child as they held a bubble attached on a string—kinda like a balloon but it can carry items. You kept a lingering stare at the small family as you felt a large hand placed on your lower back, snapping out of your curious daze.

You look up to see Kid, a stern look on his face, “Keep walking, I don’t wanna lose you,” He said. You chuckled at his protectiveness as you continue walking until you reached the main city of Sabaody. Shops selling various stuff like outfits, household items and restaurants opened their doors for their customers to enjoy their meal. Some small food stalls opened up their businesses and started selling their products, but one stall caught your eye as you turned to Kid.

“Hey, I’m just gonna go there and buy some takoyaki. Want some?” You asked.

The red haired rolled his eyes, “Do whatever you want,” He grumbled, “Just meet us at the bar,” He ordered.

You pouted at the passive-aggressive tone as you walked off to buy some takoyaki. Kid and some of the other members entered a bar, the customers inside flinched at the sudden intrusion. The bartender shakes in his spot behind the counter as Kid grinned menacingly before finding a large table and plopped on the chair. He waved his hand to the waiter as they approached with caution—scared to angering the pirate, “We’ll just get a few pints, yeah?” He ordered as the waiter walked away quickly.

You, on the other hand, is currently in line for the takoyaki—hands stuffed in your pockets as you waited for your turn in line. A child on his father’s shoulder looked at your curiously, his eyes big and bright as his mouth agape. You gave him a blank stare at first, uninterested at the child but as soon as he started babbling, you gave it a small smile as he responded with a cute coo. He walked away with his dad as you stepped forward to the takoyaki stand. The seller turned around to greet the next customer, but he suddenly flinched at your presence.
