This girl writes some BANGERS I absolutely recommend her work!!!
The tragic weight of Veilguard's bad ending becomes even more heartbreaking when you realize – it's the literal embodiment of Solas's greatest fear.
Since DA: I, we've known his deepest fear is "dying alone." But what if we look at that less literally, above physical death?
In this ending, we witness the moment Wisdom is completely twisted into Pride. Solas is utterly changed in his core. The man who couldn't stand the slightest hint of being called a god from others ends up arrogantly screaming that he is a god.
And that's the point: on the paths of either atonement or trickery, Solas learns something. His pride is tempered. "Atonement" path gives him a new purpose in life; "Trickery" path forces him to reflect ("I'm a fool who finally met his match"), and even in this one, he retains a small but a chance for future salvation, for future understanding that he was wrong.
Both paths grant him a choice. One – to step back from his plan and fix his mistakes in a positive way. The other – to stand his ground and ultimately be outsmarted.
But the path of open confrontation? He is bound to the Veil by force. He is stripped of any choice whatsoever. He doesn't change his opinion, remaining certain only of his own righteousness, consumed by Pride. Sent through the Veil in this state, the only thing he has left is hatred – for his imprisonment, for those, who did this, for the world that corrupted him (he didn't want a body), for himself. All that awaits him is an endless existence, stripped of meaning and purpose. He lost himself, utterly alone for all eternity, hurling himself in powerless rage against the "bars" of his cage; a monster consumed by the Blight. Even if he could kill himself, it wouldn't free him, but only rid him of his physical form.
This isn't just punishment for his sins. It's his death. The death of his true self. The death of Wisdom, replaced by Pride. "Dying alone" as it is. He knew, even back in the days of Elvhenan, what was happening to him. He saw what happened to his friend during his personal quest. And this is exactly what he feared.
This ending is profoundly painful for me personally. And this thoughts only makes it more tragic.
Wow I am devastated.
part of some stuff im working on for an alt universe with plague + count of monte cristo shit + court intrigue + lucanis prison break 😎
I have been surviving off this mindset since 2025 started
Have I mentioned how beautiful I find this game?
intimate solavellan
bathing together underneath a cascade waterfall. washing away the days weariness. shoulder bites. lavellan in solas' arms in a hotbath. solas writes sweet nothings in elven on lavellans back. what did you write? the things i want to do to you. back hugs always whenever wherever they can afford. booping snoots in those saccharine moments. sugar cube in solas' tea. adoration in their eyes for each other for themselves not what they represent. legs entwined in bed while reading. solas big spoon. lavellan backpack. ar lath ma. ar lath ma. ar lath ma. in heavy sighs all atangle. conversations in the dark. lavellan whispers. what do you dream of? you. a future with you. solas allows himself this. kisses on eyes closed. lavellan believes.
So if the forth picture is Solas making Titans tranquil
Then this elf in the slutty robes is Solas...
today i’m thinking about how the despair demons tend to single rook out and how the first time this is recognized is after the treviso/minrathous decision
like, listen. i know it’s probably just a game mechanic thing. but it’s interesting to me that every despair demon in the game does this—single rook out. and how you encounter a lot more despair demons the worse the situation gets. and every single time, without fail, rook is their primary target.
like. the potential juiciness of it all. rook who carries regrets and despair hidden behind a smile that no one can see behind until the regret prison. rook who has to keep up a brave face as the leader so that the team doesn’t collapse because someone has to make a decision.
the narrative juiciness of regret…despair…someone sedate me

The last one 😍☝️
do you think that when rook stumbles out of the fade prison and through the eluvian to safety, there's a moment of everyone standing around in joyous (and probably exhausted) disbelief, where lucanis meets their gaze and recognizes the look of tremulous, hesitant uncertainty in their eyes -- that tentativeness of someone who feels they stand on the threshold of madness and one wrong move can send them over, the terror of something finally breaking apart in your head in a way that can never come back together and be whole again; the helpless is this truly happening? is this real? are you really here? confusion that verges on pleading. (the last time they saw him, he was dead. the last time they lost someone, their mind fractured around it for weeks, months, to spare them the knowledge, and they couldn't tell. until they could, and by then it was all too late. how could you know it's not all happening again? how could you not fear that it might be?)
yeah, lucanis recognizes that look immediately and with an instinctive visceral wave of empathy. because it's how he's felt so many times looking at them. anyway. anyone ever think about isabela's comment that lucanis looks at rook like he's afraid they're a fever dream. me neither
i think it's time for a new tiny spite collection.
I brought Lucanis along to the Kataranda quest where a crow (the bird variety) steals some gold and he keeps making awful Crow jokes
Lucanis, nodding at this gold-stealing bird: Crows often develop expensive tastes
Davrin: I hate to disagree with you. Lucanis: You love to disagree with me more than anything. Lucanis: It's your favorite thing in the world.
