Looking back at some Spy x Family panels and noticed something (which might be absolutely nothing ngl)

Major spoilers ahead...

Look at this panel of Yor confessing her feelings for Loid to Anya...

Notice anything?...

These little orbs appear in the air around them, as if to really signal that this is a big moment. It's almost like a way to show that it's an emotional tipping point or something (there are definitely people on here who have clocked this and put this into words better than I have)

It's not like we haven't seen these before, they've shown up a good few times. The time I remembered pretty well was this scene with Anya and Damian in chapter 96

Not as many as in that first panel but still there

BUT

The panel of Loid is orb-free... Except these little tiny speckles

I can't help but feel like this is intentional. I think it's mainly because Loid doesn't believe what he's saying yet

Yes, the SSS agent can tell Loid is telling the truth but I don't think Loid has clocked on yet, in his mind he's just saying it for the mission and in the interest of staying under the triple S radar

Imo there could be a second moment upcoming of Loid confessing his feelings and actually believing it, saying it for no good reason other than to say it. Not to convince others, not to keep up appearances, not for the mission but simply for him... And in that panel we'll see lots of those little orbs to signal that he really feels it

You're right! (Spy x family spoilers ahead)

This is a common form of manga iconography. From this source: https://www.visuallanguagelab.com/jvl usually fuzzy circles/bubbles are used in manga to depict being in a dreamlike or fantasizing state. Examples here:

In the case of Yor and Damian I believe that these were being used to show that they were imagining what 'could be'; Damian a closer relationship with his dad, and Yor, a closer relationship with Loid. They were very intentionally placed there to represent a complex emotion.

Meanwhile, with Loid, they're suppressed, because he probably isn't intentionally thinking about how he loves his wife. But they're there. And this isn't the first time we've seen Loid with them, either.

In this scene, for example, he's waking up after dreaming about his mum because he's associating Yor with that comfort. And look at those orbs!

When we see yor being sweet through loids eyes (and we know this is through loids eyes because she has the same cuteified appearance as when we first saw her when loid was considering her to be his wife) she has them

He has attracted to Yor for a while, because she has always had this dream like and ethereal iconography associated with her when seen through Loids perspective. She is something distant and unobtainable.

(Alcohol markers and coloured pencils) An attempt at Cassian from @aimportantdragoncollector's Werewolfverse! Ignore every story he's been in, he's done nothing wrong. I want to draw more characters from this universe and the other works at some point too. I drew ysabel the other day but spilt ink on it and ruined it. Traditional art is a curse. 😭 😭
