You know, I'm rewatching some clips and I have to ask: why are the Avatar movies so allergic to using the word "wife"? Why is it always either "mate" (which, we're using animal words to describe the Indigenous people's relationship style? that's what we're doing?) or "your woman" (and curiously, I might be wrong, but I can't remember a single instance of anyone referring to Jake as "your man" to Neytiri, only to Neytiri as "your woman" to Jake...)?

I'd be less bothered by it if the Na'vi's relationship style was shown to be significantly different from what we understand husband/wife to mean in our culture, and thus they wanted to avoid using those words for it to remind people of that, but... it's not. As far as canon shows us, it seems to pretty much be a 1:1 to how we understand marriage. We have Na'vi words for husband/wife/spouse that translate directly - muntxatan/muntxate/muntxatu. So why are they so insistent on either referring to Neytiri in a weird and kind of misogynistic possessive tone, or to her and the concept in general with the same words we use to describe animal reproduction as if describing POC like they're animals isn't racism 101? It's just... such a weird little detail for them to insist on when it would have been so easy to just use the word wife.

BOOM THE OFFICIAL REFERENCE SHEET FOR 🔥TSAWTXEP🔥 this is yet another piece for @slowwolverine Stardust series "Orionis" but this unique Ikran was claimed by none other than Tsu'tey's brother ✨️Arvok te Rongloa Ateyitan✨️ Mottled with the colours of blood and fire, she was a true warrior of the skies. The largest female Arvok was sure he had ever seen. Her hide boasted rich shades of burgundy, red, orange, and yellow, highlighted with fine rivers of acid green along her back, her wings and neural whips tipped with burnished purple. Those eyes of hers were a warning, four glowing beacons of death.
