Her clear blue eyes flamed with annoyance, but underneath that was the colder undertone of hurt. “Well,” she snapped, “your hints do often send mixed signals.” She stood, breaking the small amount of contact between them, “but if that’s what you really want then fine. But may I remind you,” she leaned forward, the challenge clear in her gaze, her voice lowered, “you kissed me first.”
