There was a problem with Iceland's account, so they are on hiatus untill further notice.
This ring will be resuming activity! Everyone will be notified, and please tell us if you're unable to continue in the ring.
Guys! Let's make this ring much more active!
-Lycanthrope
Norway is officially off hiatus!
Thank you so much for your response! It did lead me to wonder what reasons would there be for a dragon to engage in a pact? Since it doesn't seem like they have any immediate gain in it.
Okay this is a bit of a botch answer because quite frankly, I don't know. Only Oriax [Norway] has played the game, as far as I'm aware.
In the game, the dragon was also on the verge of death when it made the pact with the protagonist, so I assume that the bond between them and the human gives them extra strength or increased power, or longevity of some kind. Like I mentioned before, this part hasn't been to well developed.
Once the other mods are online, I'll try to develop this a bit more. I hope this is okay for now.

Okay so this came up as a few questions, and as well as answering the person who sent them, I also thought they'd be good to post up here.
So these are my pathetic attempts to answer them. If any of the other mods disagree or have anything else to add, then go ahead. But you guys are too lazy to do that anyway.
Regarding who chooses what the pact-maker sacrifices:
Regarding the pact, it varies on the situation. I assume that, unless the pact-maker has no absolutely no idea, that they may choose what they wish to give up. For example, my character, Fem!England, chose to lose her sight because she believed that she wouldn't be too badly effected due to her already damaged sight, however Iceland chose to never sleep in order to escape his night-terrors. Along the same line, Fem!Prussia lost her legs because they were severely damaged during a mission of hers. Generally, it's the pact-maker that chooses, unless for some reason, the dragon has something in particular they want? But the way I see it, the dragon doesn't necessarily gain anything from what the pact is, per say, but more the fact that the human is making a sacrifice in general. The willingness to give something up is what fortifies the bond.
Regarding the pros and cons of pact-making:
The pact doesn't necessarily aid people. If you notice with Iceland and Fem!Prussia, whilst it saved them from dealing with their troubles short-term, they now have to deal with the consequences. The fact that Iceland can't sleep affects his health, and of course, Fem!Prussia has no use of her lower body and is confined to a wheelchair. There are pros and cons to any decision. For example, to lose an intangible attribute such as one's ability to feel fear may sound great a first but can lead to unneeded reckless and the character may end up putting themselves in unnecessary danger because they don't have that natural instinct to assess the situation properly. Norway chose not to age because he loved the idea of seeing what the world would become, but will eventually have to watch his younger brother die. So basically, there's an immediate advantage, which the character will be relieved for until they realise that the consequences are far from ideal.
As for the actual pros of having a bond with the dragon, it gives you total control over the dragon you've made the pact with. It's sort of like pokémon (terrible example but it works). It's will is completely yours to order, whether it's to fight others and probably a load of other things you can think of but I can't right now because it's late and I'm half-asleep. You're basically in control of this overwhelming power that you could use to save lives or to end lives.
Regarding the Union and the Empire:
Which leads nicely on to the Union and the Empire. Except to be honest, I'm not sure on this part. I know about the Union (since my character is the head) but not the Empire. The Union doesn't really demand authority in the way that the Empire does. The Empire are the classic bad guys who think everyone with out a dragon pact is weaker than they are, whilst the Union are the peace-makers who just want everyone to live happily on their own. Quite frankly, despite being the head, Alice doesn't want to fight them, she just wants to create a safe haven for those who also wish this. In the end though, it's rather inevitable that it'll end up the way she wishes won't. Okay that sentence was poorly structured, but you catch my drift.
The best place to go for info on the Empire is Sweden's blog, since he's the conqueror and all that malarkey. Overall we're drifting slightly from the game, making it more unique, so if you're interested in joining the Empire, then drop him or Finland an ask, and they'll give you some more info.
I hope this is okay, and again if anyone need more clarification let me know. Really the rings only been up for about over a month, so if anyone has any ideas about how to develop the ring better, we'd love to hear them!

Adelheid Zwingli (Fem!Switzerland) has joined the Union!
Because it was about bloody time that we got a new member.

Good evening! I'm not sure if my previous message went through, but I'd like to reserve Belgium!
No, we did get your earlier message. The group just momentarily died.
If you're still interested, then Belgium is reserved! You have 72 hours to send in an application.
-- Phoenix
Hello there! I was wondering if I could reserve Romania? He's not in the list you offered, but it's still a canon character? :x Thank you since now!
Terribly sorry we haven't replied sooner, the ring momentarily died.
Yes, don't worry, we just forgot him when we were making the list. If you're still interested, Romania is reserved! You have 72 hours to send in an application.
Updates!
Okay, it's time for the OCD mod to get her ass back into gear and do some work. I've been working on some group updates...
Firstly, we have a set of tags for you to track in order to keep up to date with the group. Please track all of them:
DrakenPSA – For announcements such as this one.
DrakenNEW – For new members joining.
DrakenHIATUS – For members going on hiatus.
DrakenAFF – For members changing affiliation. [Either undecided, Union or Empire]
DrakenASKS – For group questions that aren't regarding reservations.
DrakenOPEN – For all members to use, when posting open starters.
Mods also have their own tags:
mod: succubus
mod: phoenix
mod: lycanthrope
mod: oriax
I don't understand why we need these, but Succubus started using them so look you guys can start rooting for your favourite mods! Just don't start shipping us together. Since I'm the only one doing things, it should be me. Go Team Phoenix!
Secondly, I've made some changes to the application – added an OOC section with a part for names (whatever we can call you), time zones and activity levels. Head over here to check out the changes. Of course those who've already applied can ignore this.
For any new applicants, (and this is important!) please, for the love of God, read the rules and the plot. You won't get in otherwise. If you have any questions regarding the plot or anything really, please feel free to ask.
Activity checks will be done every two or three weeks, and we'll give you a couple days warning before we do it. The limit for inactivity is seven days. Photo/music posts don't count, I'm afraid. If you're planning a hiatus, let us know, otherwise you risk being deleted.
We do allow people to reapply, so if you're deleted for inactivity, don't hesitate to reapply. However, if your character is taken in the meantime, don't be disappointed if you declined.
People on hiatus:
Fem!Prussia [until Wednesday 17th]
Fem!England will be going on hiatus starting Wednesday 17th and hopefuly ending Wednesday 24th.
People who have been deleted (they've either changed their urls or deleted their accounts, either way, they've dissapeared):
Spain
Liechtenstein
Now, since we lost these people, if you're going to delete can you please give us a bloody warning? Instead of us trying to guess where the hell you went. If you want to leave, let us know, it's not like we're going to get angry over it. The same applies with changing your url. Tell us if you're going to delete or change your url.
The next activity check will be done on Sunday 21st without fail, which gives you seven days to get your asses back into gear. I think that's fair enough warning.
--Phoenix {thewindowstomysoul}
Yes, we're still active. Barely.
Okay guys, I know the ring hasn't been very active recently, but the mods have been quite busy. Well, some of them. Some of them have no excuse. Most of them don't. I do, so I'm in the clear. And yet for some reason I'm the one clearing things up. The OCD is catching up to me again. Whatever. Blame them it's not my fault.
Anyway, I've noticed a lot of asks pop up so I'll answer them right away and hopefully we can get this group going again.
As for everyone else, this is a kick up the ass saying get active. We supposedly have 16 members. Only four of them are mods.
Technically, only three people are on hiatus. Russia, Norway and Fem!Prussia, but I think Russia will be back soon and Fem!Prussia will return on Wednesday.
Right so, hopefully everything is okay now. Everyone post up open starters or something. I'll work on an idea for an event, plus I'm going to work on some ring updates. Like proper tags for these sorts of announcements and such.
-- Phoenix {thewindowstomysoul}
Hello, could I reserve Fem!Switzerland? I know there's no canon for her, but I already have a good base for her as an OC.
It's okay if your Nyotalia character doesn't have an official design, she still counts!
Fem!Switzerland is reserved, you have 72 to send an application!

Maria Beilschmidt (fem!Prussia) has joined the Empire.
Magnus Kristiansson (Iceland) has joined the Empire!
