Rose nodded as she listened to Kanaya, deciding to thoroughly read their assigned portioned as soon as she played for Kanaya. She would likely ask Kanaya to sing for her afterwards so that she could better match the music to the vocals. “While I agree that it isn’t the best piece, it is quite out of my hands. However, let us simply use our energy to try to make it at least slightly better.”
She listened carefully to Kanaya’s summerisation of the tone, forming a tune in her head. It was far from a final project, of course. She didn’t even know the lyrics or the basic melodies. The beat would likely be far from what they would need. Still, it was necessary for her to do something to showcase her abilities in what they were doing.
"A chair would be lovely, thank you." Rose flashed her a smile, though, as per usual, her crooked smile was more reminiscent of a knowing smirk. She didn’t often sit while playing, but it would be much welcomed after she finished. The blonde wasted little time in lifting the violin to her chin and adjusting her grip on the bow. The first notes sounded quickly, not waiting for Kanaya to finish with the chairs before starting. She formed an upbeat tone, or at least as upbeat as little planning could make. It was hardly her usual tone, but she tried, at the very least. A few breaks, rapid and dramatic changes to indicate questioning. It was what was asked of her, of course. She finished as abruptly as she started, lowering the bow and returning her gaze to Kanaya. "Is that a sufficient enough taste of my abilities?"
Though Kanaya usually rushed to sit down, considering the fact that towering over most of her peers was a rather unpleasant daily occurrence that left her somewhat self-conscious, as soon as she heard the first chord ring out, the sound of chairs being dragged across the floor abruptly halted. She'd never had the opportunity to appreciate the wonderful sounds of a violin live, and honestly? Kanaya wasn't surprised that Rose was a music magnet. Watching her fingers dance and slide along the strings as her bow slid along the strings was impressive enough, but the sound that came from it left her dumbfounded once it finished.
Once the melody ceased, Kanaya found herself mildly embarrassed by the fact that she was staring. How could she be blamed, though? A part of her almost wanted to disregard the project in favour of listening to Rose, perhaps just improvising when they had to present their piece. "Um. More than sufficient. I rather enjoyed listening to that." There was a lengthy pause as she settled the chairs down, biting the inside of her cheek as she found herself considering her next words with the utmost of consideration. "Can you play something else? Perhaps the sort of song you're more accustomed to."
