Violinists Do It Better
Ā Hearing that Rose had not met another with albinism, Karkat wasnāt too shocked. He didnāt know too many people other than himself that contained this mutation leading to such a drastic change in appearance. Their hands looked relatively similar as well, not in color, but in structure. The way they curved, and folded just right, they were violinists of course. Taking his hand back, Karkat looked at the music once again.
Rose. It felt like kids were often named after flowers, and roses being a symbol for love for some reason that was probably why she got this name. Yet somehow, her name didnāt seem common. Turning the page as she did, Karkat was moreover listening rather than watching the notes go by on the page. She still piqued his interest from the moment she had greeted him. Nodding as Rose spoke once again, he was listening more to the music and his own thoughts rather than her. Of course, at mention of Bach however, Karkatās trance-like state was easily broken.
"Heās a really good musician and composer. I have a few pieces back in my room. That is provided that whatever is growing under my roommateās bed hasnāt eaten it." Rolling his eyes at the thought of his roommate, as much as Karkat despised the guy, he always made mention of him and he was somewhere in his thoughts. That guy sucked and he wished that would stop immediately.
His hands felt familiar. She had never felt them before, but they curved like hers. They were the hands of a violinist: thin and careful, but strong. She didnāt dwell on the thought for long. She had a conversation to focus on, as well as the overhead music. She enjoyed the soothing melody. It was easy to listen to it and forget she was having a conversation, but the novelty of actually speaking with someone during class easily kept her focus.
āYou and your roommate donāt get along, then?ā Karkat seemed to harbor no small amount of distain, if the tone of his voice was any indication. She and her old roommate had gotten along well. They werenāt close, but they understood each other and cohabited the space of their dorm with little conflict.Ā She had just changed rooms, though. She wasnāt sure how she and her new roommate, Jade, would get along. "Who is he?"
