Bird Brothers
Another bird, and a second entered the rather bustling (let’s just call it a group for now, no need to be specific with this amount of variety). Their cries and squawks were somewhat quiet, and Davian preferred it that way. Thankfully the only things they would attract were more birds. This was a moment to savoir, and he was damn sure he was going to log it in both the physical and mental sense.
Memories stored in his head, he was not aware of anything non-avian as he slowly took out his cell phone, this one with the most up to date outer camera he could find, perfect for catching these types of sights on the go. He didn’t also want to draw attention to himself as ‘the guy who takes pictures of every bird he can find’. That was only half the truth. He takes multiple whenever he gets the chance, which is rare considering he doesn’t want a human soul to know about it. Click click goes the camera phone, without a sound besides the tapping of his fingers along the button. The flash was turned off too so he could catch this occasion in all of it’s majesty. Huh…? What were those shoes doing in the shot? Then it made way to legs which meant… Oh shit!
Okay, the birds didn’t react as violently as he did, which in this case was scrambling on his booty up against the nearest wall with wide eyes behind his dark shades and phone clutched tightly on the ground. Those twitching, beautiful bastards were more dead-set on eating their fill of seeds. Some, three or four, were threatened enough to flap away. Boy did he really wish he had wings right now…
Jade's lips curled into a soft smile as she watched him interact with the birds. It was an almost mesmerising sight, actually. She had never seen anyone interact with wildlife like that. Not even her grandpa, a wildlife fanatic. Jade regretted clearing her throat as soon as she realized how content he was, obviously enjoying himself with the birds. She knew that she was like that with some things, so what did he deserve her interruptions for? Luckily for her, it seemed like he hadn't heard her. Perfect. Maybe she could just walk away from him and let him continue on with his business. Seemed like the best way to go in the situation, and hell, she even took a small step back, ready to move away. However, he must have noticed her.
Jade honestly didn't expect him to react like that. He seemed more afraid of her than the birds, who happily pecked away at what the boy had dropped to the ground for them. A couple had fluttered away, panicked by his movement, but other than that, they would surely be back. Her eyes widened and she stared at the boy in shock, her lips parted like she was going to say something. However, no words came out. What was there to say? He looked like he was about to have a heart attack, and there was nothing she could do about it. Apologize? Probably the best solution.
"Oh my gosh, I am /so/ sorry. I didn't mean to disturb you. I can just.. leave if you'd prefer." She lifted her hands and took another step back, her cheeks growing red with embarassment. Her expression said all, and clearly she was regretful. He really had looked so content! Why couldn't she just leave well enough alone? Because it was impossible for her to do something like that, obviously!! However, instead of dashing off like she had planned, she found herself remaining right there, as if rooted to the spot. She couldn't just leave like that without an introduction, could she? What another awful first impression she would make this week! Add it right on to the top of the list of failures by the one and only Jade Harley.
God, just the expression on his face made her want to crawl underneath a rock and die. Well, not die. There was too much stuff that she needed to get done. She couldn't simply /die./ But that wasn't the point! She had disturbed this kid's activities, and she needed to pay for it! But how??
