         eyal forces back a frown at the touch to his shoulder. it isn’t that he’s stifled by affection, far from it, but often when someone touches him it takes him a moment to decide whether it’s welcome or not. sometimes, he’d really rather they didn’t. he’s soon distracted by what she’s saying, however, the frown giving way to an expression far more relaxed. “ i’m not too afraid of getting old. i just think i don’t want to, ” it’s that simple for him – if he doesn’t think about aging, he likes to believe it’ll never happen. subtly, eyal reaches his hand out, steadying the other’s hold of it. “ i think… looking younger. sometimes, when older people use slang, the generational divide becomes a lot more pronounced since it’s so ridiculously misused. ”

“Slang is so awful when misused. It’s a tragedy.” That’s when she notices his hand on her drink, and she realizes the danger it was in. Without a word, she places it on the table next to where they sat and leaned back in her chair, a sigh eventually coming out. “But the true secret to staying young is to act with confidence and indulge yourself in the things you love. In love, there is youth.”

“You’ve had moonshine? Color me curious. Is it the moonshine frequently made by hillbillies in Alabama? Or are you talking about the moonshine sold in your local liquor store?” He raised his eyebrows at the young woman. There was a small smile as he downed the rest of his drink. 

Yuck.

“Josiah Adams, by the way. Pleasure to meet you.”

“Nari Moon, its wonderful to meet you! As for the moonshine,” she took a sip of the drink, “Alabama, Tennessee, places like that. The south is a mysterious place.” Perhaps mysterious wasn’t the right word, odd or peculiar might do the trick. Nari didn’t say anything about it though, and turned the conversation away from it. 

“Tell me about yourself mister Adams, do you often come to parties like this?”

        here’s the thing: eyal doesn’t often get drunk. he doesn’t have the time to, and with a job that renders him on a plane for hours on end, hangovers are the last thing he wants. cabin pressure and a volatile stomach never make a good combination, but with the next two days off work, he’s going positively wild. if anyone asks, he’ll tell them he’s drinking away the last of his cold. twisting the lid off his smirnoff ice, eyal flicks it off, before raising to his lips and chugging until he’s left with little more than an empty bottle and an oncoming headache. it’s been far too long since he’s had the ability and the time to get a little drunk, and he’s content to say he’s missed it – he only hopes his companion for the night is as willing to drink the night away as he is. eyal gives a satisfied nod, continuing his earlier tirade. “ —- and that is why i’ll always be twenty-two at heart. it’s simply effective. ”

“Ah that’s so adorable!” Nari lays a hand on Eyal’s shoulder, her nails tapping a rhythm on the fabric layered over flesh. She’s got a cocktail in the other, the liquid is threatening to spill with the angle its at. But she doesn’t care. “Always stay young, thats what i say. But i will, undoubtedly. Now that’s a story for another time.” Oh... She’s a bit drunk too, the secretive side of her slipping away. Still, she gains awareness of herself and straightens up. “What do you think is more effective: Tricking people into thinking you’re younger by using slang, or by looking younger?”

Minjae

Minjae doesn’t argue with her. He makes a habit of not arguing with people, especially when it comes to compliments — or pseudo-compliments, as the case may be here. Still, he stands by it in his mind, and there’s still a little bit of a smile on his lips, which is good. “Sounds horrible. Lucky you found me.” Minjae signs, definitely more cheerful than he was before. His mood is lifting more and more by the second. Gently and silently, he ‘corrects’ a few of her signing missteps, just giving her examples of what it should be. “Maybe you can get me into some then. I think I’d like that tonight.”

“Just be warned, there may be cameras.” She looks at the corrections, trying to take them to heart and mind. “I’m kidding, but i have an idea if you’re up to something unexpected! I need to pick up some things at a store nearby, if you don’t mind super nerdy stuff.” While not her best kept secret, not everyone who follows her knows/likes that she finds tabletop games fun, and she’s not sure how he’ll react to it. Better not say everything at first lest he run away. “It’s not necessarily trouble per say, but its something more fun than just drinking in my opinion.”

“If there’s not a reason to physically fight in a confrontation, I run. I always want to run from everything. But confrontation? Knowing someone might bring my past back? I want to stop talking about it now.

“I’m building friendships so i’m not always relying on myself to get through things. The next time someone confronts me on something, i’ll rely on my friends to help give me strength so i don’t run away.”
