i know you haven't reblogged a crit meme, but... you might wanna revisit azreal's character portrayal in chrono phantasma... he doesn't particularly care about fighting /anyone/ unless they have the will to fight him.. also your dialogue is a little. off.

Alrighty, let me clarify something here, since I don’t recall having specifically done so beforehand (and for that I apologize).

In Chronophantasma, Azrael’s will to fight is limited to those who want to fight him in kind because of an Ars Magus placed on him by Sector Seven. Without the restriction in place, and knowing what else we do about him, we can presume that he’s a lot more… fight-happy without the Ars Magus limiter.

In the Cittaverse, when his application was accepted, I was given, by the mods, the option to remove this restriction from him for… presumably, entertainment purposes.

Needless to say, for absolute shits and giggles, Azrael’s will to fight is back to what it was (presumably) before Sector Seven released him from the Doghouse.

As for the dialogue, it’s mostly my personal choice… my little touch of spicing him up a bit. I’ll admit, I haven’t RPed him before this, so his dialogue is going to be a bit of a touchy matter. 

In addition, bear in mind that Azrael is currently involved in many more diverse situations than beating the shit out of people here, so his dialogue will change based on the situation. Since a lot of more… tame scenarios aren’t really something we see Azrael in during the BlazBlue canon, it requires a lot of personal interpretation to get these sorts of threads some proper dialogue. 

I still thank you for this, though. I don’t find that many people are that willing to come forth and talk about this kind of thing. Now, if only you came off anon so I could thank you properly.

   The Mad Dog, was it? Tsubaki recognized him well enough from reports she thumbed through during her time at the Librarium, though she’d never been so privileged to meet him in person. Her tongue itched as if she needed to detain him as he would be back home–but this was no longer home, and she no longer had that right. Not to mention she had no means of subduing the man.

   For now all Tsubaki had was the ability to remain staring, uttering his name under her breath.

Another familiar scent, huh? Well, it was more of the general stench of an NOL operative that caught Azrael’s attention, though the person behind it was unfamiliar to him. Must have been a newbie back in the time when he was more active. Still, something seemed off about this woman... something that made him interested in consuming her.

Now, if only he could figure out what.

「You know, if you’re gonna try and arrest me, know that you’ve got no authority here. The Library may as well not exist in this land.」The way Azrael saw it, if he pestered this woman enough, he’d be able to draw something out of her to perhaps sate his curiosity. Then and only then would he feed; he had to make sure he was getting his fill with this woman, after all.

[ ☩ ] - Another challenger it seemed? This one almost looked like it would provide Erza a good match. She would offer the man before her a smile before walking over to one side of the volleyball court, bouncing the ball in her hand a few times. 

“ Fine then. I’ll have the first service then..! “ Tossing the ball rather lightly in the air, she would suddenly hop up into the air before punching the volleyball straight back down towards the man’s side of the court with a rather ferocious force.

Well, she certainly wasted no time in getting started with this little contest of theirs, evidently. Azrael barely had time to set himself up for a powerful return, slamming his hand directly into the underside of the ball to knock it up, before leaping into the air himself to launch it back down onto the other end of the court with a ferocious punch of his own. With any luck, she’d be able to return fire quite handily and keep things interesting - he certainly hoped the carnage behind her wasn’t for show.

「Let’s see how long you can entertain me!」The near-battle cry from the Mad Dog resounded throughout the beach as he plunged to the ground, nearly causing pillars of sand to form where he’d landed with a heavy footfall. Something told him he’d be entertained for a while, though. This woman... he could tell that she was quite strong, and determined to win to boot.

“Uwah, this doesn’t really look like a monster hunting team from the outside now does it?”

Byakuya expressed his feigned disappointment with the typical unenthusiastic tone he usually held. From what he could tell, he was convinced that if this thing was your typical movie monster, then half of the people gathered here could handle it themselves at their peak. Unfortunately it seemed like few if any of them were at that point, so teamwork was going to be the name of the game.

“Intros, right. I’m Byakuya, and I’m wondering what this thing tastes like. Call it restlessness if you want, but I’ve been wanting a warm up for my Predator, so this’ll do.”

If nothing else, he was confident that he could do a bit of damage with The Eight Legs of Shredding that he had recently gotten back, even if they weren’t at full strength.

Though their leader had been so generous in pointing it out; their assault force seemed lacking in harmony - on the surface, at least. Not a new experience; if the Shinoa squad were capable of banding together, than any forced had the potential to work together.

All introduced, it fell to him to complete the line-up, standing with squared shoulders, his frame rigid and etching the very same resolve into every inch on display that could be.

“Yoichi Saotome. Like Kairi and Shulk, I’d like to minimize the risk this creature poses to the public. This beach is a place many of them have waited a substantial time for; it needn’t be overshadowed by a monster lurking about should it intend ill against them. If it might help, I’ve served in the army of my homeworld, and though currently, I’m not in possession of my usual gear, my strength is in long-range attacks”.

Well, the kid with the weird bowl cut was right. On the outside, this certainly did not look like the kind of group you’d see fighting monsters. Maybe in an RPG, perhaps, but this wasn’t an RPG. This was real life, and real life usually desired more... hale and hearty folk to get the job done. At least a couple of them had actual weapons. And, hey, the ones that didn’t would be useful for keeping the boat steady and such.

「Well, it’s a start, at least. Now you’re all introduced. Look, I’m gonna be blunt here; someone’s probably dying from this. Who, I dunno, but I’d bet on the redhead, since she doesn’t look like she’s got the gear to fight properly. But, hey, that’s the risk you take. I usually go easy on kids, but since you guys are here willingly, I’m not pulling any of my punches here.」

Still, the group was better equipped than he thought. A couple of them had real deal weaponry, and most of the ones who didn’t had some decent makeshifts. Plus, they were all mostly unified, albeit in two goals: public protection, and the promise of food from the beast’s carcass.

Better than the Mad Dog expected, but not ideal.

「Alright, no point in wasting any more time. Get on the boat so we can make our move. Probably some dumb NPCs trying to swim out there to piss it off, or some other dopes trying to snap pictures or study it or some other shit. We’re gonna make sure that this thing’s put down for good, so you kids better be prepared. Much as I still have my doubts, I’ve got faith in you runts to back me up here.」

Right, shit, his introduction. He actually forgot about that.

「The name’s Azrael. The Mad Dog of Sector Seven... Genocider... Angel of Death... Tyrant. Plenty of nicknames, but they don’t mean shit. I don’t need a weapon; my body’s the only weapon I’m gonna need. Trust me, I’m pretty strong, even with these damn scientists sapping my strength down to half what it usually is. Half of a hell of a lot is still quite a lot, y’know.」

      It started off oh so casually. Two guys meeting on the field and having a good time, crack a joke. Before either of them knew it, they were spiking volley balls with enough force to crack the Earth pretty damn far, either not yielding on either return or spikes, taking it.. rather intensely.

Azrael was not about to yield so easily, not to this guy. After all, this was a contest of strength, endurance and general manliness now. Far from the simple game of volleyball that most were expecting from the pair of titans. Though, really... how could they see that as anything different?

「THAT CAN’T BE ALL OF YOUR STRENGTH! MORE... SHOW ME MORE! THIS CONTEST WILL BE MINE!」

“ So, would anyone be interested in some one versus one volley ball? “ After having apparently paved a path with broken men she had beaten in volley ball, Erza simply stood by the net with the smoking ball in her hand, tossing it up and down a few times, waiting to see who else could waste the day with her.

The trail of carnage behind this woman had Azrael practically salivating. And to think, she managed all this with nothing more than a volleyball... he had to get in on this. So, stepping forward with lumbering footfalls, Azrael had a wide, almost Cheshire Cat-esque grin on his face.

「Alright, I think that dealing with some of the beasts on this beach has gotten me enough a warm-up. You’re on.」It may have only been for a game of volleyball, but something told Azrael that he was going to get quite the meal anyways.
