oh we read a really good short story about this in class, the last night of the world by ray bradbury! check it out! not gonna spoil it but i think it’s an amazing short story and an interesting read. it’s a very unique answer to this question. my classmates also had a plethora of interesting answers, but i have a bad memory.

anyways, what i would do? well id tell myself that id do a bunch of stuff, finish everything i couldnt finish, try to spend the day getting through all the books on my to be read list. put all my favorite music on loop and watch those shows and movies ive been procrastinating. but in reality, id either be in the same lethargic slump that i usually am in, or id be dragged somewhere by my parents in the name of family time.

one thing i would definitely try my hardest to do would be to hug and kiss my dogs goodbye. in this scenario, i really hope that they also disappear, because i don’t want them to starve to death all lonely and confused.

i would also try to say goodbye to all my friends, most likely through chat. we’d joke about it like we joked about the typhoon and the earthquake, then get all serious, but it wouldn’t matter at that point.

overall, i think id be at peace with it if it happened any time within the next year. im not necessarily entirely happy with the life i have right now. i would at least like to transition, take undergrad or masters for a humanities/social sciences course, finish all the books i have, write a few good pieces and get accepted to some literary magazines, make some good friends, go out, and do a lot of other things before i pass. but those are things that are very dependent on things that will happen a year from now, like seeing what college i get into, whether it’s at home or in the capital or somewhere else.

im also not the type of guy to fight what cant be fought. so i think i would respond to it the same way id respond to a train leaving right as i got in the station. it was going to happen anyways, maybe i didnt know about the schedule until that point, but you cant do much about it if it’s already moving on the rails. id have liked to prepare enough for it, but you really dont think about that stuff sometimes. and if im there at that time, it’s because a whole bunch of different factors came together to make sure that id be standing on that platform, watching the train pass. and some would be in my control, but some definitely wouldnt. and i wouldnt try to fight that. im not religious or anything, but i do think that each and every one of us are meant to be here, together, at this exact moment in time.

this turned into a whole essay lmao but that’s just something i tend to do. ending with this short passage from the short story:

(this is a fanfic about Rocket, how he lost his limbs, how he met Zuka and sword, his recovery, and how he got into Phighting.)

There was no winning this fight, and Rocket knew it.

He was outmatched and cornered, and his rocket launcher was visibly busted. He has been getting food, or, more accurately, scavenging the always for something to eat. It was never easy, being an inphernal in Playground. Now there were two, no, three inphernnals cornering him.

He wasn't really worried until he was the unmistakable flash of the inphernals summoning their gear.

He knew there was only one option. Use his gear, or get hurt or killed. He aimed and pulled the trigger, unleashing one last desperate, wild Rocket Shot to buy himself at least a little time. But instead of a blast, the weapon let out a horrible, choked, metallic shriek. The faulty firing pin struck the side of the degraded crystal deep in the launcher. The internal combustion flared backward. 

The chamber collapsed in a white-hot, jagged blossom of shrapnel and sparks, blowing the launcher out of his grasp and taking his right arm at the elbow in the blinding, deafening blast of the backfire.  On the filthy alley ground, it activated again, taking his leg out with a blast and scaring off the attacking inphernals. The cold asphalt rushed up to meet his face, but he felt nothing but the violent, agonizing burn of where his limbs once were. The world shrunk back to the taste of copper and the hiss of destroyed, smoking flesh. 

The heavy, metallic thuds of boots approached. Through his half-lidded, fading vision, Rocket could only make out an intimidating silhouette. A towering, grizzled, blurry Inphernal stepped toward him.

So this is how it ends.  Thought Rocket. If he wasn't in so much shock, he would have sighed or rolled his eyes. Well, go ahead, put me out of my misery. 

And then the world went black.
